Oh, and I should clarify to people reading this that might get the wrong idea: As SuperJ effectively stated, all the changes that apply to Instant Kills rely on the opponent being at flashing life, not you. Just saying HELL FIRE can cause a bit of confusion, because the character that enters HELL FIRE status isn't the one that gets comboable IKs. You can think of it like landing an Astral, except for the differences in meter requirements and the fact it doesn't need to be the last round.

" By properties, I mean how the Overdrive functions: untechable time, whether it bounces, causes wall stick, slide etc. Interestingly, the "HELL FIRE!!" message only appears during the first Overdrive you land in a combo, a second one in the same combo does not display the message.
  6. HELL FIRE does not affect the properties of Overdrives. As far as combos are concerned, HELL FIRE only contributes damage. If the opponent is in HELL FIRE status, it enables the ability to combo into Instant Kill (which is probably what "HELL FIRE-only combos" should refer to in the long run, but it'd be easier just to call them Instant Kill combos). Sol's j.P is Level 1, Axl's 5S is Level 4 if close, Level 3 if far. Danger Time stopped being reliant on heavy attacks from the second location test onwards, when the Repel mechanic was replaced by Blitz Shield.

The notes for Location Test #2 on the Japanese GGXX/Xrd Wiki specified that Kudakero hit mid as the very first note for the move, and the current Xrd Sol specials page doesn't bother to specify how to block it (while explicitly mentioning that Bandit Bringer and Riot Stamp are overheads), so there's no real reason to suspect that it changed.

  10. If you're referring to a Homing Dash, it doesn't have any special cancel properties to speak of, it's just a Dust Attack canceled into a dash. As far as I'm aware, the type of hitstun you get is no different to if you didn't do a follow-up at all (spinning arc, repeatable wall stick if they hit the wall). Homing Jump is the odd one out.

  16. Actually, I don't even know why I asked that because I've definitely seen Volcanic Viper (RC) on block a couple of times already (and I think Vapor Thrust (RC) and Bentengari (RC) on block at least once). Edit: In fact, here's some video evidence of Volcanic Viper (RC) on block.
  17. I wasn't saying that you would get a Purple Roman Cancel, but rather that you went for a regular RC and got a failed PRC (because only (DI) Grand Viper can be PRC'd, it would appear). It seems like a very arbitrary decision to have Grand Viper exclusively be RCable on hit but not on block. I mean, have DPs and other meterless reversals lost the ability to be RC'd on block?
  18. If you tried to Roman Cancel a little while after they blocked the uppercut, then the opponent probably already left blockstun so you could only Purple Roman Cancel.
  19. I think that's because Sol was technically still airborne when he did S Volcanic Viper. You could do TK Volcanic Viper loops in #Reload in a similar fashion to old school Axl Bomber loops (aerial SVV |> c.S (JC) > aerial SVV for a few reps, then an ender). Aerial Volcanic Viper had a lot of untechable time and all versions of Volcanic Viper had a couple of frames less landing recovery back then.

  21. Here's something new for you all: Bukkirabou ni Nageru can be Purple Roman Canceled. Sol gets hit during the start-up frames so you don't see the super freeze or the telltale purple ring, but you can clearly hear the Roman Cancel sound effect and observe Sol entering the Roman Cancel pose and losing 50% Tension.

  24. Considering the increased Tension Gain rate and slow motion on Roman Cancels, I don't think we really need an option as good as FRCs back in the game. They'd just be even more dominant than they were before. Roman Cancel itself is already putting in a lot of work in Guilty Gear Xrd and I think the new system is interesting. Also, Ronove was not trolling. Cut that out.
