SFIV is also burdened by the number of characters it is attempting to balance. -

It seems to me like a large window lenient parry with a tension cost and a long post usage vulnerable window. I'm afraid things will get a bit binary in decisions to bait it, which tends to homogenize choices. I will certainly give it a pass though, everything they are adding to this game sounds FUCKING AWESOME. -

Actually I think you have it backwards. Me, henaki, 4r5, kbnova, and elven(who to be fair likes ANYTHING guilty gear) are some of the oldest tournament players on the board. I think most of the newer players much prefer the AC route, whereas there is a comparative lean towards a more #R game from the older players (minus mynus). -

I agree with almost all of this. I'm not sure about speed, because speed isn't as important as flow (speed being how fast you move and attack, flow being how often the risk/reward of the game makes you want to make moves). I think BS would be less bs if 2/3 of these happened. 1) Cost 50% meter 2) Didn't absorb projectiles 3) Put the opponent in a recoil state where they could still block. So you took back momentum, but didn't get a free combo. -

Because from what I understand, a chunk of the design team (including daisuke) was only active up until #R with another team taking over to milk out the franchise. Now that some of these key members came back they want to work off the version of the game they created, rather than an offshoot created by a second team. -

I think the air throws changed in slash, but I could be mistaken. -

Kenji: I'm so fucking hype!! I think this game might actually be better than reload!!! I told my gf we aren't together for a month when this comes out. -

It should probably be 50%. Having an attempt to do something like that shiould be a big deal in my opinion, not something that one almost always has access to. -

The changes sound mostly fucking amazing. I haven't been so impressed by fighting game design decisions in so long, it's fucking exciting! ! -

But you just got a new AC based game like 3 months ago? Us reload heads have been waiting like a decade, this is all amazing! -

Poor wording on my part, should have said the lack of parries. -

I don't want to start that whole conversation again, but I will just leave it at this. SB's prevent preset trap situations. Trap situations are a limiting of options for a small amount of time, having the game de-volve into a mini game of sorts (which some people like, some people do not). Traps for oki are most commonly used by projectile characters, which is the reason I am hoping the new BS doesn't break projectiles. (Sf4 is slow not because of parry's, but because of GIANT throw escape windows, super good backdashes, and incredible dp -> damage moves. The defensive options are just through the roof strong versus the offensive options) -

I didn't feel slashbacks were done well at all. But I don't think this is the same design team at the top level. -

I just hope you can't parry projectiles. I also hope you don't get damage or get setup for guaranteed damage off parries. I honestly hate parries so I'll have to see how this goes. -

3 costumes per char I believe. -

I actually think YRC's sadly are going to make some of the fun trick stuff a bit less interesting because of the slowdown. Things like FRC whiff -> throw will be more reactable. That being said, fuck it I'm behind this game 100%. -

I think YRC's are move specific. I wouldn't be horribly surprised if they replaced the FRC. I wouldn't worry about the balance of the version of the reload characters. Beyond HUGE move changes happening to many chars, they can always tweak damage. If this game was just a balance patch on Reload it would be amazing. But the new moves and ideas they have look AMAZING in caps. I just can't believe how they are adding all sorts of new things that I approve of 100%. I really want to see someone using chipp's wall cling well, and may's movement options well! I would kill for them to loc test in nyc. -

Here would be an interesting example of how they could work in both. I apologize for the dizzy analogies, but she is the character I know best. Dizzy has an icespike, this icespike is KD on hit, and punishable on block. A possible solution would be to make the move safe on block at the frc point, and maybe allow you to setup a slightly better mixup on hit. But at the YRC point, it's not only safe, but good frame advantage, and allows for a further combo that does good damage (like, reload damage). This would encourage me to think about all 3 options, and change my gameplay styles as the meter increased. Of course there is more to it than just that, but I am inclinded to agree that even in #R the FRC's were a biiiiit too strong. And they only got stronger from there. -

I really, really hope that isn't back in. That was not a good feature. It's the only big gripe I have with #R's system.
