  1. Just wanted to stop in and say that the tourney was friggin' great! Big thanks to Momo for bodying me on stream and teaching me how scary May's running command grab is. And shoutouts to DnD for giving me pointers in our match and for teaching me the basics of Killer Instinct. It was great to meet you guys! And as always, thanks Raiden and the rest of the TOs for running a tight ship and answering all my questions. You guys are the best! Can't wait to see you all again.
  2. Just wanted to drop in and say that the Guilty Gear tournament was a blast! Good games to everyone and I want to especially thank VR-Raiden for mentoring me on Sol, DBC for demonstrating to me new Venom stuff, and FSwipes for showing me just how amazing I-No is. And although this isn't related to Guilty Gear, thanks to Blackula for doing a great job helping run the tourney and giving me some pointers on how to beat Bruce after bodying me in Tekken.
  3. WOW. Maybe I'm just a noob, but a lot of the setups Teresa showed off were really damn cool. And of course, as is with every combo video, tons and tons of meter wasting. Good stuff!
  4. 'Sup mort! Actually, I had both a standard 6 button plexiglass panel and a 5 button plexiglass panel ordered. I stupidly forgot to take pictures of the finished stick with the 5 button panel because I was too lazy and the top panel was honestly a pain to continuously remove and replace since the nut underneath the hex head screws holding the panel down were not attached to the case underneath. I actually still have the 5 button panel laying around my house since the person I sold it to didn't want it. Br0ken_Engli5h took pictures of the stick with the 5 button panel after he assembled it, but the pictures he put up on Joystick Vault disappeared. Luckily, I still have them. Here's the stick with the 5 button panel and clearer pictures to show the engraving work: Top panel with proper Guilty Gear 5 button layout: Bottom panel: Better look at the GG Emblem: Engraving around the GG Emblem: Top panel chain border engraving: Side engraving: Other side engraving: Back panel engraving:
  5. Thanks man. I wouldn't say I won the thread though. There's a ton of really great mods in here that I had an absolutely great time looking at. I'm just glad I can contribute something!
  6. I really have no idea why I didn't post this up earlier. I guess it's just slipped my mind every time. So here's a Guilty Gear themed stick I had commissioned a long time ago from Br0ken_Engli5h. Artwork is centered around Sol Badguy. I don't own this anymore, but I figured I should still post up pictures of it since I had them taken. Specs: - Seimitsu LS-32-01 joystick with a red Sanwa mesh pattern balltop - 6x Sanwa OBSN-30 pushbuttons on the top panel - 6x Sanwa OBSN-24 pushbuttons placed around the stick for various things, such as L1/L2, Start/Select/PS, etc. - Paewang Revolution PS3/Xbox 360 PCB - Neutrik NAUSB port installed on the back of the stick to allow for detachable cables. Wiring's not the greatest, but hopefully it looks okay. Top View: Balltop: Left Side Panel: Right Side Panel: Guilty Gear "GG" emblem embedded under the lip of the stick: Bottom Panel featuring the mark of a Gear (mark courtesy of Blade): Wiring (again, not the prettiest thing):
  7. Wow, I didn't realize that this was posted so long ago! I guess I need to get used to posting on vBulletin more. I always seem to miss the first unread posts. The name of the video was something like "[GGXXAC] Sol Combo Movie 'beloved ~桜の彼方へ~'" or something to that extent. The name of the combo video was the same as the song as I linked to in my previous post, which is beloved ~桜の彼方へ~. If you can find it, I'd be much appreciated Katz. :china:
  8. Thanks for this Spirit Juice! Man, it's great to be able to read all these changes in one post. :D
  9. Thanks as always j1n! Can't wait for next episode.
  10. Wow, we got a new episode and I wasn't there for it? Man, that sucks! Going to catch the recording right now.
  11. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but oh well, may as well try. I'm looking for a certain Sol Badguy combo video that was on (I THINK) Hatred Edge's channel that had this as its music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8AUBXrLSwk It got taken down a while back, but I've been looking for it for a while. Anyone still have it laying around somewhere? I'd like to see it once again since it was the combo video that got me into Guilty Gear in the first place.
  12. Hey all. I'm hoping someone can help me with this since while I did follow the setup instructions, I've got one minor problem trying to get my keyboard controls set up. I've recently wanted to experiment with the HitBox style layout for playing fighters on a keyboard, so when I was setting up last night, I was trying to set up to the spacebar, but no matter what I put in (space, vk_SPACE, vk_SPACEBAR, etc.), it would not recognize the spacebar as a key. It would either assign Up to "s" or "v" which were the first letters of the 3 commands I posted in the parenthesis. Anyone got any suggestions?
  13. Well, looks like there wasn't a show tonight either.
  14. Is there an episode tonight? I really do hope so; I'm even willing to miss CrossCounter Live to listen in!
  15. Just wanted to drop in as always and say last night's show was too godlike! I managed to catch the recording on j1n's channel. Alcohol was one of the best guests yet. Thanks for answering my questions as always everyone. I know I ask a lot of them, but I'm really glad you guys are able to let out all this knowledge. Also, thanks for the shoutouts as well, but sorry to say, I'm not making me any moolah when I miss your shows. I just have boring old college classes getting in my way. Gotta get that diploma, right? Keep up the good work everyone! Can't wait for next week's episode.
  16. Sup guys; I hate to double post, but I've got another set of questions I want to ask you guys and your next guest. Hopefully you guys are able to take it. - Obviously, the location tests for BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend has been going on and people have been finding out a lot of stuff from these location tests. Something that I've been really wondering for a while about Arc System Works games and other games in that style (what would you call that style anyway?) is how do people figure out the combos they do? Using BlazBlue as an example, even a character who is considered fairly basic to learn, Ragna, has some really strange combos (Dead Spike loops) that make you think "Who would have figured this out?" Taking this to Guilty Gear, there's quite a few characters who seem to me you need to make up a combo on the fly (Faust and Millia come to mind). What kind of process do you guys go through as experienced Guilty Gear players when caught in a situation where you need to improv a combo or want to style with a combo you think works, but haven't tested before? I think I may have worded the question poorly, but I hope the point gets across anyway. - In the most recent podcast with Ky-sama and Sol-bumguy, I noticed Kenji (I think) went on a small tangent about Steve Harrison's MAS Stick (those things are super manly I would like to add) and I know Latif gave shoutouts to his Arcade-in-a-Box stick in another interview he had. I'm a huge arcade stick hardware nerd myself, so I just wanted to ask you guys and your guest a few short questions about your fighting game hardware. 1) What was the first input device you guys played fighting games seriously on? 2) What input device do you all play on most right now? That's all I've got. Stay awesome guys! I can't wait to tune in on Tuesday!
  17. Thanks to both of you guys for answering my question! That's some really good insight.
  18. Hey j1n and everyone else, I wanted to put up my question here in case I couldn't make it live tonight again. I want to know what you guys and your guests, Ky-sama and sol-bumguy, think about tournament organizers participating in their own events. Sometimes I see tournament organizers participating in the events they run and other times I don't. Is there some kind of code of ethics that tournament organizers tend to follow? For instance, is there some unspoken rule where tournament organizers aren't allowed to enter their own tournament if it's for a major or something? Thanks in advance for reading and I can't wait to listen to the show (hopefully live!).
  19. Thanks a million for taking my questions guys! Your thoughts were really cool and exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for. I'll just throw out that despite all technical difficulties, the show still went on surprisingly well. You guys just get better every week when stuff goes wrong, doing things impromptu. Man, every week you guys just talk about more and more great people who I would absolutely love to see on the show. I personally think it'd be absolutely great to see Latif back on the show to talk about his EVO performance. This may be a GG centered podcast, but even though he won it for BlazBlue, Spark would be a great guest to have on in my opinion. I hope you guys have success in bringing Ky-Sama and Sol-Bumguy in the future. I personally think that some of the best and most insightful guests on these kinds of podcasts are tournament organizers and their experiences with running tournaments and dealing with the community. Man, I used to be like M.Bison in the Street Fighter movie where Tuesdays were always pretty damn normal, but this podcast makes me realize every week that Tuesday can't come soon enough. Keep up the good work gentlemen!
  20. Thanks as usual j1n! Damn, Moroha is a godlike guest and his A.B.A. is just as godlike. I also just want to give you guys super compliments on just how diverse your discussions become. I know this is a Guilty Gear centered podcast, but I really appreciate that you guys go into news and discussions about other games. It really is awesome to hear GG player's takes on the rest of the scene. Keep up the good work gentlemen! I can't wait till the post EVO show when Aaron comes back. EDIT: I don't want to double post, so I'll append a set of questions I want to ask for the show here since I don't know if I'll be able to make the show next Tuesday live. Hopefully you guys can answer some of these, if not the next post-EVO episode, in future episodes. Keep up the good work guys! Anyways, the recent Relius Clover character reveal for BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II Plus has gotten me really thinking about the notion of "clone characters." Some people don't mind them, others really lash out against them, but I just want to know what you guys think about them from two aspects. 1) Historically, we have seen that clone characters have been put in games, particularly in older games, to really help pad the roster. Capcom's done this notably during the Street Fighter Alpha series with their large number of Ryu and Ken clones such as Dan, Evil Ryu, and Sakura. However, even in recent fighting games such as Tekken 6 and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, we see these clone characters return despite the fact that these games don't necessarily need them due to the diverse cast they already have. These clone characters nowadays tend to play in different manner from their originals and offer up unique ways of playing even with the same basic movesets they all share. Do you all think it is a good or bad thing that these sorts of characters are included as part of the rosters in this modern era of fighting games where character diversity is becoming more and more in demand? 2) On a similar note, at what point do you all think that two (or more) characters become different enough that they can be considered unique? In Guilty Gear for example we have two sets of characters who players at first glance would think are clones (Sol Badguy/Order-Sol and Ky Kiske/Robo-Ky), but it's pretty much universally agreed that despite some similarities between movesets, these characters play so significantly differently from one another that they aren't clones. However, look at another set of clone characters in another game, say Yun and Yang in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike or SSFIV:AE (pick your poison). Despite the fact that (in my opinion) these characters are about as different in movesets, combos, and gameplay style as ever seen in a Capcom fighter, many people, even people who are very intimate with the game would say these are clone characters. What does Guilty Gear do with their "clones" that make them so special and unique? 3) This question isn't related to clone characters, but it's still related to characters in a Guilty Gear vs. BlazBlue sense. One of the things I've heard you lot say at least once is that compared to Guilty Gear, BlazBlue characters feel extremely limited and unlike Guilty Gear characters, you can really only play a BlazBlue character in one manner with fairly little variance between players using the same character. This more or less is true depending on how you look at it, but something that I feel is that the BlazBlue cast as a whole is on a character-by-character basis, far more unique in terms of gameplay mechanics and playstyle variety (certainly not aesthetically though) than Guilty Gear on a character-by-character basis, particularly if you look at some of the more veteran members of the Guilty Gear cast. So, I guess what I want to ask is, do you all think that character linearity is proportional to how different the developers intentionally create characters? Or is the linearity of BlazBlue characters compared to the Guilty Gear cast due to some hidden reason deep within the game engine? Gosh, this turned out to be a long post. Sorry guys!
  21. j1n, thanks as always for putting up these .mp3 recordings. I've been really busy these past weeks so these recordings are the only way I can really listen to the show at all. The episode where you brought on Koogler (spelling?) was an extremely good episode and 722's Talk about players in Japan was really informative too. Can't wait until next week! This message was sent from my iPod Touch using Tapatalk so please forgive any spelling errors.
  22. Thanks for taking two of my questions guys. Sorry if either of them sounded strange. In my defense, I was doped up on Dimetapp trying to fight a cold. Regardless, keep up the good work! I'm looking forward to next week's episode.
  23. A Nintendo weekly advertisement says that this game is either already out or coming soon via Aksys. Honestly, this game looks pretty fun. It may not be the next Guilty Gear fighter, but it's definitely a nice nod by Arc System Works. Chimaki is too good! Secret final boss of Guilty Gear 3.
  24. Likewise with Polyfreeze, thanks for taking my question you all. I also appreciate the MP3 uploads; I'll be archiving these! Keep up the good work gentlemen. I can't wait to see next week's episode!
