Wow, what's up with the resurrection of this thread? Good job KD. We played this a bit heavily the beginning of the summer. But now everyone is on SCIV and GG as usual. I'd love to get something going in this game but I don't have a comp = no GGPO. That royally sucks. Gallon is looked at as a noob character but there are people that know how to play him. To be honest, I fear a good Aulbath or Sasquatch more than a good or spaming Gallon. Maybe it's because I started out with Gallon years ago or because I had to fend off so many scrubs that play as him. My first instinct is to try to guard and get around the wild shit. Before I set the game down I was trying to get decent with Donovan while using Bulleta and Victor, but my hands aren't made for 360's though. If I entered a tourney I'd most likely roll with Morrigan though. Damn, I feel like cracking VS out after work if I have time...

Oh ok. I didn't know how deep the learning curve would be. And with a tourney next month and not much time to practice and whatnot I didn't want to be "lost in translation". I kind of want to try a "webbed" pad to see how that feels but I bet it'll be awkward dusting with anything except a shoulder button.

What's good? If someone can help me out it'd be great. I need the sprite of AC HS color(purple one) Johnny doing dust-sweep. If you guys direct me to any .rar files or whatever, basically anything except a site or page with the sprite on it, I will not be able to open them because I'm usually online from my phone. I just need the sprite for a future endeavor once I finally get comp access. Also, I don't know if this would require any editing, but it'd be cool if the sprite could "loop" where he continously does the sweep over and over. Thanks in advance.

What's the deal on stick? What am I missing out on by playing pad besides FD Dashing, canceling easier(fuck mapping), and this better execution that everyone speaks of. I thought about getting a stick but the fact that I can't even remotely play on one for 2D fighters is forcing me to reconsider. If the advantages don't seem to up ones game tremendously then I guess I'll just continue to do what I can on a cool looking, but crappy, pad.

That's the same list Boss posted. So I guess it's the closest to official. I know about the exclusions but since we know that it was due to hardware limitations and not any overly broken gameplay reasons, then I feel it wouldn't hurt to include them in the tiering. After all, I heard about some small tourneys even using the arranged versions of Savior(2)/Hunter(2). Anyway, just for the hell of it, where would you place Pyron?

@ IW If I told you who was in/ from what originally I'd get a headache. I might do it later. But yep everyone is in DS3, except Dee, who is Donovan rechristened as a vampire. I think DS3 lets you choose the character and what version or "series" they're from, like HSFII in a way. Might contain some minor hitbox, animation, etc. differences but nothing too drastic if trying to transfer over to one of the near-arcade perfect ports. @ Xploit Yea it's most likely me, you, Boss, IW if he ever gets the game, and KD if he enters the scene. Lei Lei looks cold, I just can't use her.

Everyone seems to love Demitri. Well, as of now I haven't really "learned" anyone. I've loved Bulleta ever since I first played with her in MvC2. And I like Victor even though he's not a real grappler. Morrigan is pretty cool imo, and I'd like to try to get decent with Donovan if it's not too hard. Like I said, we're in the same area so if you have any free time or wanted to get a few games in then let me know. It'd be nice for me to see how the game is really supposed to be played. EDIT: Pyron is so fucking cool.

It's not really unfortunate besides the fact that a few frames of animation were removed, it's not arcade perfect, and there's load times. But you have every character playable and every version playable in ONE game almost right from the go. VDC, I have to choose which game I want to play because each one has different stuff unless I arrange it (kind of how you do for SFA3 Upper in SFAA, except this lets me customize so much shit) and it's gets a bit overwhelming because I'm new and don't yet know the character differences from game to game and stuff. Plus I probably won't fuck around with the customization options and arrange mode except to enable all characters in VS1. But it's like I WANT to play VS2 and VH2 but everyone seems to just play VS1. DS3 for ps1 also has an 'Original Character Mode' that lets you take a current character and edit it's appearance and moves. This is the one thing that I remember from my friend having it back in the day and it was so much fun. DS3 probably has a better art gallery than VDC too, I don't know. Plus you get all the music and all endings, win quotes, and texts in english. I'm mad because I can't read SHIT. But yea, it looks like ps1 DS3 sacrifices a little and gets a lot. You're not a hardcore player so you won't notice or care about the imperfect arcade gameplay stuff. Hell, I want DS3 now and I plan on getting it too anyway. And we gotta start a scene here. All I know as of yet is that DGC and the twins play it but I'm pretty sure everyone else is familiar with it or played it to some extent. To be honest, I'd rather play it over GG and 3s if it had as big of a scene. The presentation and everything is THAT good.

And do they have any exceptional depth, or do they just play like their SFII counterparts with a little icing on top? Are you getting VDC or DS3?

You have 20 characters counting Dee and Anita, who was playable in one of those old Vs series games(can't remember which one) and who'll likely be playable as an adult if a future DS game is made, especially since the original plan was to have Donovan die off in VH and have an adult Anita(like in Dee's ending) come back in DS3 with a few of Donovan's moves. Also, this is not to mention all the secret variations of existing characters, etc. Plus, they have minor characters that could be potential new characters (like the little boy who follows Phobos/Huitzil around in his matches as Anita does Donovan) so I'd especially hate it if they neglected to use one of their own storyline characters and came up with some other, less inspired creation. Like how GG still hasn't given us Raven, but yet we get Order-Sol, who I was never hyped on. Alpha3 didn't need all those characters and most were added just for fans or nostalgic purposes. MvC2 had 50+ characters because it was supposed to be an ultimate dream match crossover and all they had to do was TWEAK a few fighters so as to make them fit the system. How many did they actually create from scratch and who were original? 4 maybe? I'm always down for a decent number of characters in a game. This gives a good selection and helps that game from becoming stale and boring from seeing the same few match-ups over and over, again and again. Can you guess what I DON'T like? No variety (as in cloning), and excessive imbalance, like what's found in MvC2 and in 3s when you get to the higher levels. Because even they there might be a lot of characters, only a handful are really effective and actually get played. I just started playing Darkstalkers so I don't yet know tiers and if all characters get a fair amount of play. But by randomly watching a few videos, I HAVE saw next to all characters( and a lot of Demitri but that's besides the point) get play. So I would definitely want new characters but I'm not always so hyped for it because I feel that if not done right, the developers may neglect others/ existing ones. And this IS a capcom game after all. Quantity of characters don't make a game. Quality of characters do.

Dunno, probably in Mid level play. I'm pretty sure he's one of those "high risk, high reward" deals because I read somewhere that whenever he does get played in a tourney, he either makes it to the final rounds or wins it all. You sure you want that? New characters? Because they had enough problems as it was trying to include all of their ORIGINAL characters. Lol but I guess since you have a chinese ghost in Lei-Lei, they could create a japanese one similar to the girls in The Ring, The Grudge, Shutter, etc. movies. Or add a character who's a twist on fairy tales ala Bulleta. I don't want to get too conventional with Jason, Freddy, Mike Myers clones because that would just be totally stupid.
