  1. Since it'll be winter break, we'll probably have a bunch of Guilty Gear sessions. You should come.
  2. I'd imagine that all you can do is learn it based on timing alone sine visual cues won't help on a non-laggy tv
  3. I just want to clarify that, although I think Ky is a great choice for a beginner, if there is a character that you really like and really want to play, then you should learn that character. Just know that it's gonna be a more difficult road. Otherwise, if you're pretty indecisive about who you want to play and just want a good foundation, yeah, give Ky a shot.
  4. I think you might have the wrong idea of FRC Haircar. What determines whether it hits or not when you FRC into j.K, for example, is the timing of the oki. Her fundamental oki setups are actually pretty simple. Against characters who are stronger at the neutral game than you are, yeah I'll agree that Millia neutral game without pin is quite difficult, but let's not forget that she wasn't really designed to fight in this situation to begin with. That being said, proper pin usage is essential. I'll play you as Millia without pin if you want . But I'll agree that Millia isn't really a good choice for a beginner, not because of combos (her essential combos are pretty easy; you just have to know the theory behind delayed attacks/airdash cancels), but because of how to use your pin and, more importantly, if you lose your pin, how to stay alive and get it back (there's a reason why Japanese Millia players, when they lose their pin, they only play the neutral game without it until they get an opportunity to get it back). Her lack of a solid, strong neutral game will be disorienting for beginners who are just running around throwing pins, missing, trying to get them back, and then getting raped. Her mixups aren't very hard to understand if you know your options. There are some advanced ones you could learn, but only crazy people like Koichi do them. If you watch Woshige, you'll see how simple, yet solid, his Millia gameplay is. I'm kind of iffy on calling Slayer a good beginner character. On one hand, the character will do a lot of work for you (read: at lower levels) with his strong attacks, random invincibility on moves and dashes, and amazing combo potential. On the other hand, because the character does a lot of work for you (read again: at lower levels), more fundamental things like FD usage and instant block won't be as emphasized. I'd call Ky the best character for a beginner to learn. Easy combos to start with, good foundation for learning the neutral game (uatilizing FD brake, spacing, zoning), good pokes, good oki.
  5. Seriously speaking, I think they have this at TRF for Hokuto no Ken. They have a tournament for just the weaker people, and whoever wins this tournament can participate in the tournament with the stronger players. Obviously we don't have to have the condition that you need to win in order to enter our main GG tournament.
  6. I think we should remove all tournaments except for Guilty Gear and just run two different GG tournaments.
  7. Her mixup game is easier than her combos. You just have to know your options.
  8. It's not that bad. It's more just going into training mode, pick Millia vs X, and seeing how much you need to delay moves/airdashes vs X character. I mained Millia for almost 2 years, so if you want me to show you some things, come down to SF and let's play at Rod's or something.
  9. Yeah, there are some of us here who still play it regularly. Come. We will play Guilty Gear until the sun comes up.
  10. Serious talk is serious. You can read what the other guys said about the matchup since I'm not completely familiar with the specifics. But when I'm playing against you as a player, my main priority is trying to never ever get hit by Fuujin. Naturally that's what anybody should do, but the way I was playing against you was with the mindset that you would do Fuujin at any gap in my offense (mostly because you're really trigger-happy on your Fuujin, and this is how you get a lot of your damage, I think). You'll see me put you in a blockstring, backdash, and then stick out a poke that will only connect if you do Fuujin. If I can seal your Fuujin, then I'm confident that I will win the neutral footsie game. But yeah, besides the matchup specific stuff other people are telling you, my suggestion is to stop throwing out Fuujin so recklessly. It will work against most scrubs, but you'll reach a wall because of this habit of yours (I think you've already encountered it). Besides that - and this is the more difficult part - work on your neutral game and footsies. Use FD brake more (especially against Johnny), learn the proper spacing of your moves, when they're best used, etc. Also, watch more match videos. Not just Anji vs Johnny (though those can definitely help), but of Anji in general. Lime Key, Dry Ace, AGF, ANG. Also, look to using other escape options when you're being pressured. What I've noticed is that you just try to Fuujin out when you think you have a good opportunity to, but if I keep baiting it, then it's not very useful. 1f jump, for example, is a good way to get out of stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX2VmHZWubA This match is pretty old but might be a good starting point. Watch how he jukes around with FD brake/backdashes, when and how he pokes, when he 1f jumps, etc. Also look for how he gets hit by stuff and think about what he could've done to avoid it.
  11. Two hours of Inoue (HOS) vs Machaboo (KY). Dear Lord.
  12. KatanaDash better bring his laptop and mouse!
  13. I might be down for a session. Edit: When and where are people meeting? Are we going to qwerty's? I have a PS2 I can bring, but I won't be bringing a TV.
  14. Rod, you forgot that I actually have Melty on my PS2, though I don't usually bring it outside of big sessions since we end up just playing Guilty Gear anyway. But if you want to play MBAA, just let me know.
  15. Enter the tournaments. None of us care if you're new and not very familiar with the game yet. We just want people who will try and won't just quit after losing a few games.
  16. I think I did the super early enough where it would have caught Zanzei Rouga during its strike-vulnerable startup, but I was actually aiming to beat your dp (in retrospect, if you did dp, it'd probably clash). If I had known you'd do the other super I would've tried to IK you (and fail) earlier!
