NORCAL INSTALL! [Main Information and Ranbat Update Thread]
[TRM]tenkai-45i[xTF] replied to Chun's topic in Archive
I started an entire Facebook thread for discussing a new form of scheduling for the 2-day tournament. You were even talking in it. I and a few others reposted and requoted in this very thread about problems people had with your scheduling format. Don't tell me that you just happened to not see any of it. -

Shining Aquas: This. This. This. Also, America's level is honestly not at the level where we need to worry about our suits being too weak for competitive play. Every person in this community has very fundamental things that they need to work on, so until we refine that, then we can worry more about tier lists. -

Okay, let me clear things up for everybody: the problem is not about whether Super NCI should be a one or two-day event. We have resolved that very quickly already. The issue is whether we should have brackets on Saturday and finals on Sunday. I am suggesting we split the game up into two groups and then run all of one group on Saturday and all of the other one on Sunday. It seems more flexible for people who are traveling from faraway and for those who have less flexible schedules. There has been more discussion on the Facebook thread: http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=306592476070391&id=126007430795564 -

Regarding SNCI, I think the current format of having brackets on Saturday and finals on Sunday is not a very good idea. Perhaps it'd be better if we just split the games into two groups and have one group started and finished on Saturday while the other one is finished on Sunday. This will make it easier for people who have harder commutes (especially people who don't live in NorCal) or less-flexible schedules. In addition, the $12/2days and $7/1day is also quite strange if you consider that, with the current format, everybody who gets into finals on Saturday would have to pay extra on Sunday if it's only to play their finals matches. I think the fee policy can stay if we change the Saturday/Sunday scheduling around. If we split the games into completely different days, people can finish up their games on one day, and if they really wanted to hang out and play casuals or something, they can decide to pay the extra instead of being forced to. -

Given how we already have GG tourneys every month at NCI, I think it'll be overdoing it if we throw another tournament in there, especially on the Saturday immediately before. -

[VS] Jedah: Night of the Demon
[TRM]tenkai-45i[xTF] replied to doragonkoroshi's topic in Vampire Savior
That doesn't work, Kyle. What you're describing is SF4's Plinking mechanic, which does not exist in Vampire Savior. To illustrate this, let's use the Bishamon infinite example you talked about: Suppose we have frames ABCD you're doing 66 [hp]~[mp]~[lp] as you said, and the window for linking the HP is on frames B, C, and D. If you press and hold HP on frame A, and then on the next frame, press and hold MP, you will still only get a MP (you just happened to be holding down HP as you're doing this). The game doesn't recognize these subsequent inputs as you getting another HP; only SF4 does that. That being said, there is a very important thing to keep in mind when doing the infinite vs Bishamon. When you do 66 for the dash, you should hold the second 6, so you get 6[6] HP. The reason is that when you dash, there is a period at the beginning of the dash where you cannot input any attacks. So the effect of a tapped 66 HP is that you dash a little bit, fall slightly (since you cannot hit HP right away), and then the HP comes out. The problem is that your falling slightly will often cause the HP to only hit once because you're not airborne long enough for the other hits. You will fall after the first hit and land before the second hit. When attempting to redash to continue the infinite, too much time will elapse from the time you hit with the first hit (when you were relatively high in the air) to when you land, redash, and try to hit HP again. So you want to get an HP hit as close to the ground as possible, so you have the maximum amount of hitstun to work with for the next dash HP. To do this, you do 6[6]. Since there is a period where you cannot hit any buttons anyway, you should use that period to dash as high as possible. So you hold the dash and then link the HP normally. The HP causes Jedah's body to naturally fall, so there's no need to worry about staying too high in the air after the attack connects. Besides that, I think the only trick we have to work with when linking the HP is double-tapping it. -

That'd be cool. I don't have Vampire Savior on a console, however, so we'd probably need to play via computer. Since we're streaming, it'd probably need to be a relatively powerful computer to handle emulation and streaming at the same time. Maybe magz's if he wants to let us use his computer. Yeah, as you say, I meant 2 bats, 2/3 matches. Turbo 3 of course. I'm always down for playing more. My main concern is finding a time slot for it since we're going to have 3 or 4 tournaments (GG, BB, AH, MB) going on simultaneously. For a side tournament, the most convenient slot was looking like the dinner break in the evening. If we were to have a double elimination tournament, that would take more time out for people who want to get food. But I guess it's up to what you guys want to do. -

Who'd be down if we could set up a mini Vampire Savior side tournament? Since Southtown Arcade now has a cab, I've been trying to get into it (and also trying to convince other people to get into it as well). I realize that most, if not all of us, don't play the game/barely play the game/horribly suck at it, so we can just have the entry fee at $1. Finding a time slot for it might be a little iffy as well, so how about 2/3 rounds single-elimination? That way we can just squeeze it in during the dinner break or something.
