Embrace the humor in the special feature title! It's only to grab attention, as all of the games in it would still be run as side events regardless. I found Pope Temmy's suggestion for the title to be very funny. The last thing we are doing is alienating; we want BBCSEX, GGAC, AH3, MBCC and hopefully Skullgirls at PU2012 for people within the venue to see being played. Our intention is to also record all Winners, Losers and Grand Final sets at the very least and upload them right beside all other PU2012 videos. It may be true that these games do not enjoy very large turnout in our area, in general, but all of you can create the exception to the rule. There's nothing I would like to see more than 50+ man tournaments for each of these games; let's make it happen!

I am extremely excited to finally announce that PowerUp is teaming with Focus Fire to provide our equipment for this year’s event. This is the last major upgrade to PU2012 that will address those four big issues we had last year: Focus Fire has been developing a fine reputation with the fighting game community, and PU2012 aims only to further that goal while providing the absolute best we can for our attendees. See you all at the event!

Thanks Matt! GGAC will always be hype, people just won't always listen.

@Amadeous: Great! Glad to hear that!

Hello all, I wanted to make the official PU2012 thread here on Dustloop and invite all of you out for our King of Anime special feature. Read the details above in the OP. Not to mention our awesome VS cabinet tournament and VS 8-on-8 exhibition being held Friday at 7pm. While we will not be putting the King of Anime games on the official tournament list we also know it is important for these games to have a presence. It gives locals a chance for expanded competition and travelers have more reason to make the trek. I hope that GGAC, BBCS and all the rest of our King of Anime games have a strong showing of support at PU2012! BBCS will be whatever the current version is over our event weekend.

The third annual PowerUp tournament is here! We promise improvements over last year's experience and even more good times. Save up your travel money and those sick days because from April 13 - 15 you should be no where else but at Arcade Legacy for PU2012. --------------------------------------------------------------- LOCATION Arcade Legacy The Cincinnati Mall - 600 Cincinnati Mills Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio 45240 513-874-8766 (current #) arcadelegacy@yahoo.com DATE April 13 - 15 REGISTRATION Online Pre-Registration is live! It will end at 12:00am, April 9, 2012. Pre-registration ensures that you are seeded away from others in your city, and that you do not have overlapping pools.* For the most up to date PU2012 news please go to the PowerUp Facebook and Twitter pages. Event Badge $30 – PowerUp Online Store / By Phone (Call Arcade Legacy, ask for Jesse) $40 – In-Person Emergency Registration Spectator Badge $15 – Online / In-Person / By Phone To view the most up to date registration listing, please go to the PU2012 Online Registration Listings page when online registration becomes available. We haven't forgotten about GGAC, BBCS, MBCC, and AH3! What we're doing is having community run tournaments for these games on Friday and Sunday so that they can make use of our ample casuals space during non-pool play. King of Anime is being organized by Pope Temmy. The King of Anime schedule is embedded in the bottom portion of the PU2012 Schedule. Registration will be on-site only and only requires a Spectator Pass. Big thanks to Keits for the work he did on the UFGT7 payout scale because it is the basis for the PU2012 scale. Click Here to view the Payout Scale And for those coming in 1st Place, never fear! The PowerUp Bonus Structure is here! At the 50-entrant level we'll begin taking $2 out of each tournament entrant's venue fee and putting it toward bonus money for 1st Place in that specific tournament. At and above 50, multiply the total entrants by 2 to get the bonus amount. SCHEDULE The following schedule is subject to updates once our Exhibitions are finalized. This is only one of the improvements being made at PU2012; big thanks to Keits for his excellent scheduling example from UFGT7. I encourage all PU2012 participants to print a copy of the schedule for their use at the event. A compressed version of the schedule will be printed on the back of all registrant nametags. Elven Shadow is the guest of the most recent PowerUp Podcast. Episode #72 is all about Frosty Faustings history and its head organizer. Big thanks to Elven Shadow for coming onto the show and I wish nothing but the best for FFIV! Also, as you can see in the OP, PowerUp will be providing $30 coupons to the 1st Place finishers in all the singles tournaments at FFIV! This now includes AH3, MBAACC, and KOFXIII for a total of 8 coupons!

This thread is amazing. Thanks to everyone contributing : )

Come up to the registration desk and ask to be removed from that tournament. All entry fees are refundable up until that tournament starts. So he would need to get his refund on Friday, or make sure he's there on Saturday when doors open at 9am before MvC3 starts at 11am.
-
Make sure you get at it early! GGAC 3v3 is scheduled to begin at 6pm on Friday and all tournaments' registration ends 30 minutes before their scheduled start time.

PU2011 Pre-Reg has officially ended. I want to say thanks to the 126 individual players, and 7 spectators, who took the time to pre-register for the event! Currently, the games in danger of being canceled due to low entry are: GGAC 3v3, TvC, MBAA. All other games with less than 8 entries could potentially be played in a round robin format: UMK3, MvC2, 3S 2v2, KOF98, KOF2k2:UM. But remember, you can still show up in-person and register for games! Registration cutoff for each game ends 30 minutes before that game is scheduled to begin. Lastly, we still need PS3s donated for use at the event. This is especially true if players would like to have SSFIV 3v3 run alongside MvC3 3v3. Currently, we need 8 additional PS3s donated for smooth sailing. Remember that by donating your PS3 for the event you receive $5 off (or refunded) on your Venue Pass, and you get entered into the Donor Raffle, held on Saturday, April 30th.

I should've been more clear. I need to transfer the money from PayPal into my bank account tomorrow, so I can't take anymore online pre-reg that same day. My bad : (
-
Tomorrow is the last day to pre-reg for PU2011!
-
Only 5 days left to pre-reg!
-
I was going to wait a bit longer, but I'd like to announce that we will still be accepting emergency registration at the venue. Mandatory pre-registration doesn't seem to be a very good motivator, and I'd rather not leave people out in the cold. Prices are the same as they were: $30 for Venue Pass in person, $15 for Spectator Pass in person. You will only have until 30 minutes before the start of a tournament to register for that tournament. Remember to take a look at the Final Schedule now posted at the bottom of the Event Details page. In person spectators may pay at any time during the event. I would also like to mention a specific point to anyone who has ordered but not paid for their venue pass online. If you wait until you get to the venue to pay for your venue pass I will not honor the $20 rate; that rate is only for people who complete their order online before April 21st. You will know if you're payment has gone through because your handle/nickname will appear on the Pre-Registration Listing. So I hope that spurs some people to pre-register and see their orders through to completion. I hope it also quells the fears of anyone who may have thought they would have to miss the event because at-the-door registration would be unavailable. Remember that we want to put on a good show for all of you, and the biggest part of that is making sure your bracket's run smoothly and are seeded well. Pre-register now if you share that goal. Thanks : )

@Dingofist: If you're referring to the amount of overlap with main games on Saturday, then you're assertion is also correct about runners. If you are playing in one game we'll make sure to hold off your match as long as you let your pool's bracket runner know what's up. Like you say, this really only applies to MvC3 and SSFIV. MK9 and T6 also start at 11am, but I don't think we'll have nearly the amount of overlap coming from those games into MvC3 or SSFIV. Another purpose for pre-reg was to see the overlaps and create brackets where, say you enter in MvC3 and SSFIV singles. We'd put you in an early pool for SSFIV and a later pool for MvC3. People who don't pre-reg will not have this luxury. You won't be DQed if you are playing another official tournament game. Just make sure you don't leave the venue if you can help it once you're pool/bracket starts, and pay close attention to the player listings we will announce for each pool, along with their estimated start times.

And thank you too!
-
Thank you much for the pre-reg!
-
The pre-reg listing page is updated every time I receive a payment and then put it into my database. So it's almost always accurate, which is unfortunate since most people seem to be procrastinating on registration : ( But not you, Dingofist! You sir, are not a procrastinator, and I thank you.

SSFIV/MvC3 finals will probably be Top 8, though it does depend on number of entrants. T6 and MK will probably not be on an alternate stream, our internet connection at the arcade is pretty much usable only with one stream setup : ( I'm hoping for at least a couple hours of GG/BB stream time after finals for the Saturday games conclude, and I'll push for it with SpOOky. If it doesn't happen then I'll have PowerUp staff taking video of you guys and the crowd can be the commentary : ) Remember, the first pre-reg is always the hardest, but once we see a couple people on GGAC it might convince some other people to play!
-
@Dingofist: I personally am hoping that the SSFIV/MvC3 finals get finished early enough to allow for lots of BBCS and GGAC streaming as Sunday comes to a close. @Kamui: Doragonkoroshi is already on board to run GGAC, but thanks anyway! @Mac: Hope to see you at the event, good sir.

Had the first conference with Sp00ky regarding the stream / game scheduling. The tentative schedule has received an overhaul. To see the current schedule and for any final revisions, go to the PowerUp 2011 Event Details page

Fight the good fight, Matt : )
