  1. ^Aka moral victory. That moment when you're playing someone you know who is vastly better than you, and that any slight mistake on your end you know means certain defeat. But you're too heavily invested in beating him on that very night so you keep playing him, regardless of the 20+ game winstreak he has on you and others. Then when you finally get to hand him the single big L he has of the night after winning 25+ games, you feel like you just did the impossible. Good old fighting games, and their stories.

That's awesome if true, I was wondering when Daisuke would put more Holy Knights into GG than just the poster boys.

  5. Now that the game is going to be out soon and we've seen a plethora of gameplay and had a very long time with ACR. I was wondering if I could get people's opinions on balances in this game as opposed to ACR. Specifically ACR's balancing route by giving everyone more options to help them, more FB's, more normals that were removed from previous versions of GG and so forth. As opposed to Xrd's removal of movesets post-XX#R and giving characters, for the most part, fewer new moves but interesting ones that change their gameplay. People's thoughts on balances can obviously only be referred to veteran characters like Millia and Ky. I main Ky, so personally I prefer what ArcSys has done with Xrd as opposed to ACR. While Ky did get some fixes that made him kinda suck in AC, he ultimately still has very bad matchups in ACR that haven't changed despite getting S javelin, FB greed sever, wallstick charge drive (FB super), and his old 6hs back. The "tweaks" they gave him ultimately didn't change anything in terms of making him a better character against the rest of the cast,. In a sense same old dog, but new tricks. But the manner in which he has received grinder seals and Durandal Call projectiles have really helped him in his bad matchups and really added to his gameplay making him more fun, at least in the short period of time I played Xrd. Ky suffers once a character has better neutral than him and/or shuts his neutral game down. However, this new projectile mechanic and split ciel his only new special really flshes him out, strengthening what he does best and can capitalize on it. I feel that this is the same case with Sol, whom I sub, FB fafnir and the return of meterless fafnir along with it being able to cancel into it from normals while it is good, it doesn't fix Sol's inherent problem of being zoned out or having difficulty getting in. Kudakero however, has really opened up his options on getting in on opponents in the air. @Dai/Venom players, From what I understand I think the balances made to Ky and Sol in ACR and Xrd can be applied to Venom as well, from what I understand ACR is the weakest version of Venom despite getting new moves. BUt i don't think it matches up to QV, Xrd's j.d, and YRC ball setups. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  6. I didn't compare the frame data thoroughly but it's worth mentioning that TKing j.stun edge is +5 and +7 or so, not to mention DC stun edge is +5 on block. The sad thing is stun edge also does 10 points less of damage, and CSE is +14 and only DC CSE is +18 now. 5hs getting "nerfed" is understandable what with Split Ciel being so good and causes immense knockback and stagger on hit. 5hs on CH still has immense time for you to combo off of it. Sytha, could you elaborate on 2s and 2hs? I only really look GG seriously in AC and only fooled around in #R, and I never played slash.
  7. I like his new 5d, +5 or so in startup compared to ACR's 5d unfortunately, but a whopping -5 on block as opposed to ACR's 5d being -13. Freaking awesome.

  10. I didn't finish watching, but I'm overall impressed by you matches against Kokonoe. I only have small nitpicks since I don't know the matchup. Judging by the lack of dependency on unit cookie dough, this is CP 1.1 correct? Very solid defense and great patience against Kokonoe, she was one of my main major turn offs from CP among other character specific reasons. Some random normals thrown out and occasional dropped combos. I'll expand more when I have time (an when I have actually slept)

This needs to be discussed, I thought Beak Driver would be shutting down the projectile game at midscreen, turns out I was wrong: Also got kinda hyped that i just realized Sin still has Big Beak Driver as well from Overture. The animation just differs from Overture into Xrd, as well as the input for it (it needs to be charged in Xrd). EDIT: Couple of things I noticed. Bull Bash's utility is more spacing dependent than Beak Driver because is a 2 hit special with the first hit nullifying projectiles it comes into contact with. Bull Bash simply has a weird hitbox so projectiles may still hit you on recovery. RTL (I'm comparing it to Ky's), will be hated in the first week or month of the game dropping simply because people won't know how to block/punish it unlike most supers. Controlling it means you could probably make it less unsafe on bloc potentially. It doesn't seem to have projectile nullification like Ky's own, but also seems to be more damaging than Ky's. Finally it seems to have very fast activation since it punished a whiffed 5k from Sol which most likely has a recovery of "13[7]", which I think means 7 frames of recovery. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on Sol's 5k frame data. If it's true, then Sin's RTL is gonna be hella fast lol and good for punishing poor spaced moves. Someone said something about Sin's oki tools, his projectile super seems to do just that, it more very slow for a reason, unlike Ky's Sacred Edge which is used for zoning or combos. I would say he has a lot of versatility due to his strong midrange, he was very much like that in Overture. Very strong midrange that outright dominated other characters. Looking forward to playing against this character, I don't think I'd used him other than to troll people.
  16. I figured, and I noticed even in my scene there's been an influx of new players, who even play Hakumen. I thought I could at least give advice, I might play CP2 though. I'm feeling the way Hakumen plays, even though they still have no idea what they want to do with him as a character lol.
  17. Hmmmm, while I don't avidly play this game. I'm going to do more to support newer Hakumen players, since I've played this game for so long so I have a general idea of how to play this character and most matchups. Obviously newer matchups like Kagura, Kokonoe, Celica, and L-11 (I doubt she plays that much different from N-13 though). I thought I would formally post this. Also, if any new Hakumen players seek to improve their skills from a moderately old man (Spark's older tho *SHOTS FIRED*), feel free to P.M me questions you have or links to your matches and I can break them down for you. Also Hakumen CP 2.0 looks kinda fun, he reminds me of CSEX Hakumen sans- frame 1 active 6d. Who knows I may start playing again... Anyways, I'll take a look at your matches schneider when I get the chance.

  23. XX has been called a gaiden by Daisuke several times. It's really just a love story that transitions from homoeroticism (Ky getting off Sol's nuts) and a complex actual love story (Ky deciding to smash Sol's daughter instead). The character that really had development in the XX series is Ky, not pushing other characters under the rug or anything. Daisuke really seems to be going all out for this game, he's going harder than any other GG game he's been invested in lol. Onto a discussion this thread actually warrants. So since I don't live in murica, based on what TB and others have said, my Xrd copy won't be shipping till the 26th and I won't be getting it till like the of January 8th just as amazon said. I thought amazon's dates of shipment and arrival often change over time? If that is the case, is there anywhere else anyone might know I can buy Xrd to get it on the 16th for Canada, if not, what other options I may have? Thanks.
  24. I'm amost you can combo off of it, and like all GG command grabs, it's unblockable. Otherwise it doesn't really have it's own use like his vanilla command grab.
