[P4A] Kanji Tatsumi Gameplay Discussion "Brofisting is in!"
HurricaneDennis replied to A.X.I.S.'s topic in Kanji Tatsumi
Has this been brought up yet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAtcril-GLs if you do a 2C (or 5C or 236C/D) right after a 2C, T-M will appear where he disappeared, which is a little bit in front of where he started from. This means that if you mash 2C, T-M can travel across the screen. If you do a 5C and hit, you can continue to do 2C, but if you miss the 5C, T-M will return. You can also do a 236C/D from where the 2C disappeared. This seems like useless tech, but maybe it can be used to show off. -
Depending on spacing, you can do 5/2/j.D to keep them where they are. If you are in close & they are turtling, you can do a 5B > 214C. If they try a slowish attack, the 5B will counter and you can go into a better combo. If you are on top of them, though, you have to be wary of a B+D attack, so don't get predictable with the 5B. Depending on the match up you'll have to do something different. Has anyone tried something like j.A+C, back dash, j.B/C when they are on top of a downed opponent?
-
Sorry, I haven't tried this out yet. Some things to think about: Do you have to guess or do you have time to react to the way they tech? What's the spacing like if you guess wrong - are you open to getting punished? Can they j.A or or dash or can Yu/Mitsuru B+D you out of it? Frame data would really help answer some of these... In all honesty, you'll figure out if the reset works by trying it.

[P4A/P4AU] PSN Match Finder/GG Thread
HurricaneDennis replied to Kurushii's topic in P4A Online Play
Has anyone run into p4uplayer? I played a match yesterday and it seems like it is just a bot using Aegis' AoA... It actually has a lot of wins if it really is a bot and does the same thing over and over again... -
http://youtu.be/Hhmii6U_eBA Here's a Kanji mirror. I'm in white. I forget who said it, but they were right: Kanji mirror match is ZZZzzzzZZZZ... What I gather from watching this video: I'll do the same thing over and over again until you prove to me that it won't work. I don't use C effectively enough. I'm overconfident throwing out 214214C (I prob should have gotten countered at the end). I need to use better combos. I assume 5B is safe oki - no idea if it is. I've been getting punished by Yu & Mitsu's B+D, so I hit it early to try to bait it. I have to hit confirm 5B on counters (to use -CH 5B>2B>236C>236A/B instead of 5B>214C all the time) Any other tips? I have a vs Teddy match online too. It was the first time I ever faced Teddy...
-
I can think of 2 things... You might be too slow on the 2B. 5B is very fast and has very little hitstun. That means you have to be VERY FAST to hit the 2B. Don't even wait for 5B to hit... try doing 5B > 2B as fast as you can. You also might not be walking forward the proper amount. When you whiff you might not be walking forward enough. When you get yellow, you might be walking forward too much (or you might not be getting the 2B out fast enough).

First, learn the speed & range of Kanji's normals & specials, then check the combo thread here. A lot of these combos are very advanced. Stick to what you can do for now. It takes time to learn some of the advanced stuff. His D normals are interesting, and his C normals are very powerful, but are kinda slow. Execution of these combos & moves is one part of being good. The next step is to play a lot, and watch a few videos from top players. Having a game plan and understanding the match up against your opponent is the other part of being good. It is important to have both down. It is the difference between landing a j.214B & eating a huge counter.

[P4A] Kanji vs. Yu: Ride the lightning.
HurricaneDennis replied to Circuitous's topic in Kanji Matchups
If there are any holes in Yu's oki, a well timed 5B will get you a counter on Yu in front of you & hit the persona... I feel like this is a fight where you especially want to knock out the persona if you can... -

I don't know what this data represents... Do you know Japanese? http://w.livedoor.jp/p4u_matome/d/%c3%a7%b4%b0%c6%f3%a1%a1%b4%f0%cb%dc%a5%c7%a1%bc%a5%bf -
[P4A] Kanji Tatsumi Gameplay Discussion "Brofisting is in!"
HurricaneDennis replied to A.X.I.S.'s topic in Kanji Tatsumi
Thanks for the advice. This helped me a bit. Now, I can do EVERY OTHER combo ending with OMB > 5C > 236B > ... > 236C except this one. The opponent just seems to be out of range/able to tech too soon for the 236C to hit after the 5AA. Maybe I just need to practice with a fresh mind tomorrow... -

I'm having trouble with the combo: -5AA>2A>2A+B>OMB>5C>236B>5AA>236C>236A/B *cost 1 burst* [DM: 3569] After the 5C>236B, opponent seems to be too far for 5AA. I can do the combo fine if I start from 2A+B, but I'm not confident enough to throw out & hit confirm random sweeps Also, if I omit one of the first 5A's, I can get the last 2 5AA's to hit, but then the 236C won't connect. Anyone have any tips? I think it could be timing with the OMB or the 5C. Not sure though. Anyone have a vid of this combo? A visual aid would probably help. Is this a combo worth doing? I find myself hitting the 5AA > 2A > 2A+B often enough... -
[CT] Bang The Older Hero Threads MERGED: Use the search function!

yeah i agree with you. i found this out on my own too, and i'm curious as to why this motion has a short cut but i haven't found another new shortcut like this. It feels more comfortable with a stick too, especially comboing from a 2C. also, DeadCellSpawn, it's not the easy way out. the more info you have, the better. these 2 different motions do the same exact thing. the move is meant to be done both ways. -
i throw a combo into an airgrab every now and then just to see if it lands in ranked matches (i don't take them that seriously, it's just easier to get a ranked match than player match for me sometimes). It does land more often than not, even against people ranked in the 50s. I know the rank doesn't always show skill, but it at least shows experience. i'm not saying it's a viable strat, but purple throws aren't broken 100% of the time like some people would have you believe (and unfortunately i think bang's damage is so low otherwise because i think ASW thought the air grab would land a lot while balancing damage lol)... 2 things could explain this: online lag (which is just a cop out - i can break throws decently enough), unfamiliarity with the bang match-up (it's obviously easier to counter if you know it is coming). i really think its the latter. it's not so much a reaction to the purple !!, but to the combo leading up to it. plus i notice if someone breaks it once, they are about 100% likely to break it again. fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me.

yeah, pretty much. i don't know what a video will show you...

[CT] Bang Shishigami Combination Arts FRKZ MERGED
HurricaneDennis replied to AtTheGates's topic in Archive
2b, 6C is a link, so i don't think execution is the problem. unless you are doing 6 dash instead of the 6C*. if you are whiffing the 6C because they recover, i don't think you'll get it to hit. this is just my thoughts on the matter. i'm at work, so i can't test it out =\ *if this is the case, i have trouble with this on pad too (FRKZ is easier when using stick IMO). normally you probably input this like 2B[6]C, where you hold the 6 right after you press B. This won't work in FRKZ cause the 6 is an input for dash cancel. as you hear/see the 2B hit, you gotta press 6&C at the same time there. as for the practicality, putting yourself in an advantageous position is worth more than doing (a certain amount) more damage. if you are awesome with FRKZ, then by all means, go for it, it'll probably be your to your advantage as the round goes on. and since FRKZ is too freestyle i don't think there's a "right" answer here. you just gotta be aware of the match-up, how you think your opponent will react, and how confident you are with FRKZ. -

iw2wa, do you ever throw out a b-nail by mistake? if i am using a stick, i tend to go with 923B. on pad, i do 9623B. rei-Scarred: in training mode, figure out when you can hit 9 to buffer the jump and make sure you hit the DP after the kick connects (like you can do 9, 623B if that makes sense - you can hit 9 earlier than you probably think). if you are getting a j.B, maybe try the DP sooner (or maybe try the whole motion sooner) it takes reps to get into a groove and figure out what is most comfortable for you. -

You'd be surprised how often the 2B hit if you've managed to land a 3C. Even if you aren't at max range (i.e. they can tech), I think if they tech fwd, the 2B will hit too (unless the people I play just don't block, lol). I used to use 3C a little, but now I use it even less. It's very dangerous! When I do land it, most of the time it is a CH anyway. -

Strider Chipp - do you mean 2369C? Justice is talking about do the webnail after the 2C. You are talking about doing the air grab. Also, are you guys having any success with pressuring people using the bumper mixups from the combo thread? I know there's a gap, and ATG mentions it too, but it seems like everyone I play can move out of it. Am I being too slow about this, or does everyone find that their opponents are getting out of the bumper setups pretty easily? -
This is important! If you are in the middle of blocking her 2C/6C (the 8 hit normal), you can switch to IB. You gain heat so quickly doing this! If you time it right you can probably get a bunch of IBs in. If not, you will probably still block the whole thing. I'm just saying the risk vs reward is is good, so go for it, or at least try it out in training mode and see if you get the timing right for it.

This might be more of a general strat than Jin specific, but if Jin tries his distortion drive (the ground one) while you are running in, you can 6D during the super spark and GP it. Teleport in if needed and combo from there. It happens to me where I am out of barrier and can bait it often enough. They think you won't be able to block it (cause basically no one else can...). Good Jins who don't know the matchup well fall for it. Will better Jins fall for it? I don't know... If they DON'T DD, then, well, you gotta read Jin and see what he does I guess.

I got the Bangarang trophy last night and it was great. It was funny though cause there was no lag for the whole match, but once we both did FRKZ, there was all kinds of slowdown, like the Internet can't take that much awesomeness. I wound up winning, but usually by the time I have 4 seals (especially vs Bang), they are just a throw's worth of damage to defeat anyway. It was a good match. Actually I played some good bangs this weekend online. I mean more than normal. I'm probably not the best judge though since I have just over a 50% win rate. I've been playing some people and they say they don't see a lot of good Bangs online (I don't even really consider myself good...), so I'm glad more people are using him. Also, I think I fought Kicks from here (is your PSN name Kicks then some numbers?). He really laid the pressure on. I never fought a Bang as good as his, so I was a little lost. Great match. I hope I don't embarrass myself if we meet again.

i hear what you are saying, i just meant if you say he is a 1 without FRKZ but to learn just FRKZ is a 10, i don't think it's a big enough part of his game to average that out to 5. you are right, you have to learn the whole character, but i don't think bang is in the situation to use FRKZ as high as 45% of the time. is this a valid assumption? i think i'm just a little confused about what all these learning curve threads are trying to accomplish, what process you should use to come to a number, and what exactly these numbers are supposed to represent. i mean, are we judging the characters solely with respect to other BB characters? if that's the case, i think bang is one of the easier characters. obviously, i choose to main him because i think he's easy to use. is that because he's empirically easy to use or is it because i "get" how he's supposed to be played? if we are judging Bang on some absolute scale, that's something else altogether.
