  1. ^^^^ That is pretty accurate.
  2. Same reason that Lord Raptor got 3rd before; the challoenge bracket software is rigged.
  3. Yeah, the big three are Chizuru >= Tamaki >= Konomi, and then Karulau is right after. The order of the rest is up for debate, with Riannon, Manaka and Oboro being the bottom three in some order. A lot of people think Hak is low tier, but I definitely do not think so. He has too many ways to end the round instantly off of very random things. Chizuru is the best but it isn't by a very huge margin. Tamaki, Konomi and Karulau are even, and Hak and Arawan can provide many problems even though the matchup is a slight disadvantage to them. In particular, the Chizuru-Tamaki matchup is Chizuru struggling to grind out a victory while Tamaki is whistling steamboat willie and generally having all the fun doing whatever she feels like doing. Certain team strategies and play styles are also rather problematic for Chizuru (Touka/Rina is one the first that comes to mind). Despite Manabe's trolling, some of those tactics are correct in the Chizuru-Karulau matchup. Karulau should be having an orgasm every time Chizuru's feet leave the ground. Air throw makes Chizuru very very sad, and Karulau generally has air superiority over Chizuru's air pokes and anti airs. So Chizuru is forced to take the fight to the ground, and the matchup is even basically because her ground game is better than Karulau's in general.
  4. NorCal with all the troll tech. Why be good at games when you can troll and taunt people instead? I can attest that Manabe actually plays like that.
  5. Just follow the flowchart: https://twitter.com/tone765/status/433665222272774144/photo/1/large However, v.3 of the flowchart is a Nor-Cal trade secret until v.4 comes out.
  6. Manaka is apparently playable enough to have two of them qualify for Examu Cup. Obv Tamaki needs to be banned and Chizuru should be unbanned, unless your name is Oz then Chizuru should stay banned.
  7. Manaka Mirrors @ 49:00 Basically everyone goes and reads a book.
  8. I think she's the worst character, but it's not like she has 2-8/3-7 matchups so she is definitely playable. Chizuru-Manaka is probably the worst matchup in the game, but I don't think it's 3-7 or worse because Manaka definitely has multiple chances to win. It's just hard.
  9. Chizuru is not that OP. She can be beaten and she has lots of weaknesses. She is the best, but the margin between her and the rest of the cast is rather thin. Most Chizurus that I see online are not that good and choose Chizuru/Rina in the hopes that you will not block a BC due to lag and also do stupid and suicidal things. I actually get ragequit on and tossed out of lobbies much more often playing Riannon than I do playing Chizuru. Admittedly, my Riannon is pretty fraudulent and abuses netplay lag. Lag also makes a huge difference in tiers. Manaka, Hak, Riannon and Sasara are a lot stronger online than offline, whereas Tamaki and Touka are a lot worse online than offline, and Chizuru is slightly worse online IMO.
  10. Nevermind I misread what you posted, it is character not partner. Yeah, 5C into 236 super is definitely an OTG combo that is not going to damage unless you get the corner bounce to make it not OTG. Just play whomever you like to play. It's not like online is serious business or anything. I think everyone except for Multi and maybe Hak requires only roughly 30 min of training mode to master execution wise, the rest is just learning nuances from matches.
  11. You have to wait a bit for the server to update and then it'll give it to you. I don't think I have played you before, but yeah online is pretty dead and I don't really play that often online anyway as the games are frustratingly laggy over half the time. When I do play online it's usually late night pacific time. OTG - Off the ground. So as an example, runpast into 236236 AB would hit OTG because they would fall and hit the ground and stay there.
  12. Are you sure you are not doing an OTG combo by accident? Chizuru's best combos are generally only 5-6ish hits long, so as long as you super within the 5-6 hits then it will do pretty decent damage. The exception is if you have high emotion and <50% life, in which case the super will do a lot of damage regardless of the combo. BTW, does anyone know what unlocks the rainbow colored titles in online?
  13. East coast bans her. We do not. Most of the analyses that I've seen complain about how she takes away of lot of things that are otherwise safe against the rest of the cast and therefore utterly dominates. However, it simply isn't true. Once you figure out what you are allowed to do and what you aren't allowed to do (though the list of what you aren't allowed to do can be rather frustrating), then her best matchups are 6.5-3.5 in reality, with a lot of 6-4s and several matchups that are even. Besides Tamaki, I think Konomi and Karalau go even, and most of the rest of the cast has multiple chances against her despite being worse than even. Only the Manaka match is truly bad IMO. Her lead over the rest of the cast is not a very large margin. Netplay is pretty garbage and I only play on it for lulz and to troll since it is an almost completely different game compared to offline.
  14. How to troll people online: 1) Pick Riannon 2) Do the elemental cycle super on wakeup when you get knocked down and they are attempting oki 3) Watch people run away as they have no idea what that super does (but it sure looks scary!)
  15. She is more than managable. More like AC Eddie tier. She definitely has a lot of exploitable weaknesses. Her dominance is mostly in her ability to delete other characters' options and limit the scope of safe moves, which can make playing against her rather frustrating as you basically need to play with higher precision against her.
  16. Ma-Ryan is far and above the best assist for Sasara. It isn't even close.
  17. I'll see what I can do about the Eddie and Millia matchups since they haven't changed much. The Dizzy and Chipp matchups changed quite a lot.
  18. I normally use 3HS, dash up 5S->6K XX FB Orb, 5K->5HS XX stun dipper. It may not be optimal, but it is pretty easy to do and does quite a bit of damage.
  19. Both are very active. Aquapazza is very serious business in NorCal.
  20. Fair enough. I think I just operate on a different definition of "good normals" which I consider to be for the neutral situation where neither side has initiative, which is a disadvantageous situation for Tamaki against most of the cast because her reach is bad. But it doesn't really matter because yeah, she can just YOLO all day and once she's in your face then her normals and options are ridiculous. I was thinking more along the lines of 5C not being crouchable or having a Zangief green glove or some other poke that advances her forward and allows her to fight better at neutral. However she would be almost indefensible and SSS+ tier if you gave her that. Yep pretty much. She isn't even 3S Chun domination, because Chun has multiple 8-2s and 7-3s in 3S. The best Chizuru has is a 6.5-3.5 against Manaka, with the rest being somewhere between even and 6-4, and every character has multiple chances to win against Chizuru per round. ATM I actually cannot think of another game where the difference between the best character and the rest of the cast varied by so little. Which is why it surprises me that people talk about banning her as she doesn't even dominate Japan tourneys anymore.
  21. *shrug* okay. From this and threads in other forums that I've seen about AP, I think NorCal is generally several levels ahead of the rest of the US so perhaps the tech that we are sharing here is fairly counter-intuitive, but I would love to be proven wrong. Maybe at EVO then. Tamaki is a top character but it doesn't mean she is without problems. Even the JP atwiki entry for Tamaki spells out the problem with her bad neutral normals and what to do about it.
  22. That's exactly it; they're good for the situations where she's in control like on oki or after a forced block situation like calling out ulthury or llyr. Outside of that though, her normals are bad when you have to force your way in from neutral. Against characters with good neutral, you pretty much have to try something ridiculous like YOLO 2C for CH attempt, run in 2A or j.A/j. C and failing repeatedly until you are finally let in. The reason why Tamaki is an even matchup for Chizuru is exactly because Tamaki can fail a lot at neutral (which she does), and still win anyway. So what normal does she have to deal with a turtling arwan/serika, or karlau/octavia who is content on playing the fencing game rather than attacking? And if that is too theoretical, you can go watch the examu cup because the GF is pretty much tamaki struggling in neutral when she doesn't have ulthury out to force the karlau/octavia team to block or jump away. The reason why people pair tamaki with llyr or ulthury more often than other assists is to compensate for the fact that her normals are quite bad at neutral. Come to NorCal and try to take people's money with Tamaki then.
  23. Tamaki's normals are only good in some circumstances, but they have problems against characters with good neutral like Karlau, Chizuru, and to some extent Multi. However, she can just YOLO so it's all good.
  24. If Tamaki had good normals, she would be SSS+ tier. She is already the best grappler in the history of fighting games. Just ignore your lifebar and YOLO all day. If you are not dead, then it doesn't matter. I don't get why people complain about Chizuru when Tamaki is the one that is really having all the fun in all of her matchups. Chizuru-Tamaki may be an even matchup, but it is a struggle to play the Chizuru side.
