I want to get some games in today. does anyone want to come over for some casuals. I can have 2 set ups at least this time. I set lema up with a diff tv for netflix, so that's 2 ps3's and 2 tv's just need a copy of the game and sticks if anyone is interested

i'll chat with you (ruben) and tristan sometime and we can figure out if we can flesh this thing out some.

the danisen is pretty interesting. it helps group similarly skilled players. that way no one feels like they're getting rolled by a veteran player. you have 10 ranks (can obviously be less depending on how many people we have), win 3-5 games straight and you move up a rank; lose 3-5 games in a row and go down a rank, players in the same rank play eachother. it just promotes people playing similarly skilled people, but it only works with a lot of people. it's not ideal for a 10 man scene; 60 people however, is a different story. It is a great tool for determining seeding in tournaments. this is all just an idea, though. it might be a fun alternative!

That's kinda how I feel about it. I know there's a lot of people that are not allowed at haz's place for the p4u ranbats (some i like, like Tristan), but I don't know how wise it is to have the p4u ranbats at a different location just so the people who are banned from hazem's can show. They may have been banned for a very good reason... If they were volatile to the community at hazem's should we go out of our way to include them? I know it sounds fucked up to mention things like this, but I think it's worth the thought. Overall, though.. I'll play where ever you guys decide to.

I don't care where we have them. As long as we're all happy for the most part. I want to have these ranbats in the place that will best help our community grow. I would suggest that instead of a ranbat, we have a danisen, though. then have a tournament at the end and payout to that. a danisen would lend itself to the free entry / play lots of casuals and learn kind of vibe this is only if we play at uat, though. i would only expect ranbats from haz. ranbats work perfectly fine there. the dan system would also work perfectly with seeding for tournaments if they ever get that large.

okay, i think that cements the fact that we can't talk about how bad elizabeth is ever again. not until you win 7 out of 10 matches against them. everytime.

I don't mind if a few people come over today, just keep in mind, I have 2 set ups MAX and that's if someone brings a ps3 copy of the game and their sticks. Also keep in mind it's not an all night kind of affair, but I'm totally fine with a few people heading over from around 5-11pm. especially if you want to hang out and get a few games in. I have a 360 as well if it's easier for someone to get sticks and a copy of the game for that. I'm sure Lema will appreciate having the PS3 for netflix lol

Good! Those are the best people to play. The ones that keep you constantly learning and evolving your game. I'm sure you learned a lot. He seemed very impressive when I saw him.

You play liz, I don't. So, I trust that it might not be the BEST match up. However, it's still really early to judge just HOW bad it is. I'm still getting hit by random AOA's and losing to characters who apparently suck dick. So, I'm not trying to say anything is concrete right now. I know elizabeth gets harder to win with once the match up has been learned, but elizabeth is still very solid. I haven't seen a character yet who doesn't look scary at high level.

Where's the new match up chart for this game? because I was under the impression that the 3 worst match ups (close to 7-3 or 7-3) were mitsuru > elizabeth, shadow labrys > yukiko, and elizabeth > kanji I haven't found a chart besides that but I've been looking.

I really think you're exaggerating a bit here. she only lands hits if the enemy makes a mistake? uh... isn't that how everyone lands hits? are there unblockables or something I'm missing out on? she can definitely pressure... from almost full screen, mind you. the rest is true, but with certain strengths, come weaknesses. It's what makes this game so good. I don't see anything particularly bad about anyone. The only thing that makes elizabeth "bad" is that she gets a train run on her by mitsuru, the undeniably best character in this game; but having one bad match up does not make the character shit tier overall.

i wouldn't say she's bad .. but she is definitely a all-in kind of character. you're either going to destroy somebody or get destroyed yourself

Bond looks really solid. I was really impressed when I first saw him on WNF or something like that. i watched motempest, but he didn't seem special. he knew combos and he guessed right with a throw or dp with thanatos... not much you can do with a character like elizabeth to surprise me. I wish there were more things that could be done with elizabeth to add some flavor, she's extremely boring to watch.
