I want a vid of you doing blindfolded taunt loops on the BBVlog, Rin. Yeah, CS online is horrid, I'm amazed if I can land some taunt loops online. Then again, I'm amazed if I can land taunt loops offline, but not as much...
-
The only thing worth following the Pounce with besides tech traps and resets is Hexa-Edge. Pounce, taunt, Pounce still works, but the damage is ass in CS (3.2k, vs. 5.6k in CT). I don't think you can combo anything else after Pounce -> taunt, I know 236c doesn't work. Maybe you can do 5b into a combo ender after the Pounce, but you won't get much unless you hit all 5 CS2 attacks, since hit #5 always does at least 496 damage.

Illinois: What was lost is now found

Hot damn, Galloping Ghost Arcade looks amazing. It seems to have practically every fighting game I missed out on and wanted to learn. Good thing it's just a door charge, or else I'd probably drop $100 or more whenever I go. I'm going to try and hit up the monthly ranbats at AreaXIII for BB, too. There's a Metra station a short cab ride away, so if any public transit rats want to halve your cab fare, PM me. -
I don't know if this has been mentioned, since it doesn't seem terribly practical, but you can link 6c after a CH d~RC. Pretty sure you can still get 10-12 taunt loops off this, but the best I could do was 7 before fucking up. I got this to work off 5d, j.d, 4d, and j.4d, but not 2d or j.2d. Again, not sure if it's practical, but I figured I'd throw it out there to see if anyone can make use of it.

I believe that combo won't work on Rachel, Arakune, and Carl. Rachel and Arakune have weird hitboxes and fall funny, so you have to do single taunt combos starting with 5b -> 6a (1) -> JC -> j.5d~b -> Taunt, etc. Carl is... Carl... If you put a j.d~a in your combo ender you won't be able to hit that j.c, so that's why it's j.8d~6 -> j.8d~6. There might be a mistake there, though, I know j.8d~6 -> j.8d~6 works on some characters, but I usually find that j.8d -> j.8d~6 works better, and will work on everyone (except Carl, I think). Also worth noting, you want to use this in the corner. It doesn't work on everyone mid-screen, I think it only might work on Noel and maybe Jin mid-screen. Carl aside, because he's stupid, these are your two main combo enders that work on everyone else: 2d~6 -> j.c -> 8d~6 -> j.c -> 8d~6 -> j.236bb -> j.236bbbb (corner) 2d -> j.d~a -> 8d -> 8d~6 -> j.236bb -> j.236bbbb I believe this works on Carl mid-screen or in the corner: 2d~6 -> j.c -> 8d -> 5d~6 -> j.a -> j.c -> 8d~6 -> j.236bb -> j.236bbbb I think there's a few variations on these, but they really aren't worth it. They either crank up the difficulty for little extra damage, or they're pretty character specific. You're really better off keeping those.

Actually, that doesn't apply to the first four hits: How you're going to hit with a 6th hit I have no idea, unless you whiff the first 5. But hey, if you're doing the crazy AB2 ender in the corner, keep mashing b after that last hit and maybe you'll get a little extra...
-
Actually, I think we're thinking about this wrong. If you look at the frame data, you can see how this works. The 5th hit of CS2 has a minimum damage of 496, which is apparently is unaffected by AB2's 50% decrease of damage. I did the math on one of the combos in the video and got the correct damage result under this assumption. That's great but what does this mean? Well, this means that for 50% heat, you can use this combo ender to get a guaranteed 3k damage tacked on to your combo, no matter how you started it. Look at the second nico video on this, you get ~4.3k damage off a combo that starts with 2a -> 2a, how can you come anywhere near that much damage without resorting to pink throws? But, I suppose everyone wants to know how it compares to normal enders on the big taunt loops, so let's get crazy. All we have to do is compare the ender damage, since the rest of the combo is the same. First we need the proration of the massive taunt loop combo (without the ender). Just scroll to the bottom to skip all the math Combo in question: 2c FC -> 6c -> 66 -> (Taunt -> 214d -> j.2d~b) x13 -> Taunt -> 214d -> j.2d~b -> 5C -> 2D~5 -> j.D~A -> 9D~5 -> 9D~9 -> j.236Bx5 (I'm writing in this way because the after the 14th taunt, the combo changes between the two, so we need the proration up to the 13th taunt loop) Break it down by the moves you do Tao's combo proration: 90% P1 of FC 2C: 100% P2 of 6C: 89% P2 of taunt*13: 110% (110% for the 1st, 100% for every other) P2 of j.2d*13: 92%^13 = ~34% Multiply all that together: 90% * 100% * 110% * 89% * 34% = ~30% So, ~30%. Now find out the damage of the ender after the last taunt. base dmg p2 current p scaled dmg total j.2b 600 92% 100% 600 600 5c 550 86% 92% 506 1106 2d 650 92% 79% 514 1620 j.d 570 92% 73% 416 2036 j.8d 580 92% 67% 389 2425 j.8d 580 92% 62% 360 2785 j.236b 380 80% 57% 216 3001 j.236b 380 80% 46% 175 3176 j.236b 380 80% 37% 141 3317 j.236b 380 80% 30% 114 3431 j.236b 800 - 24% 496* 3431+496 * minimum damage value regardless of proration Multiply the first part by 30% (since the last hit isn't affected by proration) 3431*30% + 496 = 1525 So, ~1525 damage off the normal ender. Now, if we do the AB2 ender instead, we get 496*6 = 2976 from the CS2 hits, and I'm tired of math, so screw the 236c and 6c, it's somewhere between 0 and 500 after proration and everything. There's your answer, you use 50% heat for an extra 1.5k-2k damage. I think this is best off a really heavily prorated combo, like a throw combo. You might be able to get almost 6k off of it. That would be pretty nice.
-
Most likely an A cancel into the throw, or maybe a rapid cancel if the j.4d hit. Have to see one of those videos to know for sure, but I would imagine it has to be one of those. For Tao's challenge mode, I was expecting a whole lot more taunt loops, too. At least it won't be too hard to fly through those, though.

Sweet, my yellow, red-headed Tao palette from CT is back, but it's DLC... I notice from the Tao and Mu DLC colors, color 3 in DLC 2 seems to feature blue skin and purplish clothing. Dare I hope for... Skeletor Bang??? If that were the case, I would automatically buy it and learn how to play Bang. If only Tao's palette had the purple and off-white switched and had a white face. SkeleTao would've been awesome.

I think the Kaka Kitten breaks a primer, too. So you're not going to be ripping through anyone's primers like a hot knife through butter...
-
You're missing a j.C, it's actually: 236CC> 3D~9 > j.C > 9D~9 > j.236BB > j.C > 9D~9 > j.236BBBB

Jesus, Hsien_Jo, I thought I knew me some Tao combos, but apparently I don't know shit. Those were awesome. I had no idea there were so many ways to drop 5k+ damage on someone.

I put up a playlist of some matches from a month ago: http://www.youtube.com/user/lurchEbean#p/c/9564F6AB1DC35CA1/0/yNhxF5YeFBk I hadn't played in over 3 months, so yeah, it's not great, lots of dumb mistakes. I got a few good games in, though. My goal was to land my first double taunt combo online, and I pulled it off... somewhat (in the first two Tager matches, lousy black beats...). Also, while I'm posting, thanks to Rin and anyone else who posted comments on my videos with feedback. Sorry I haven't been playing enough to incorporate that stuff in my game.

I've got three combos I use off a neutral throw (not in the corner): 5b+c -> j.4d~b -> 5b -> 2d~6 -> j.c -> 8d~6 -> j.c -> 8d~6 -> j.236bb -> j.236bbbb 5b+c -> j.66 -> (j.c -> 5d~6) x3 -> j.a -> j.c -> 8d~6 -> j.236bb -> j.236bbbb 5b+c -> j.66 -> j.c -> j.236b -> j.2d~b -> 5b -> 2d~6 -> j.c -> 8d~6 -> j.c -> 8d~6 -> j.236bb -> j.236bbbb You can loop the second one an additional time against certain characters (same characters that you can do the horizontal loop off 3c on an extra time), but Jin will only get you three. I'm not completely positive how well the last one works on Jin, and it seems to be the toughest for some reason. I usually use that one on Noel, Tao, and Rachael, because the second combo doesn't work on them. Probably best to stick with the first two.

Here's a big ol' video dump. Some old stuff I didn't post before, a few recent matches, and a bunch of Tao mirrors with a few fellow Dustloopers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qfdH8ag_pI vs. Litchi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zvm_M66EnGo vs. Nu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2C-UHcncg8M vs. Ragna http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvFMYUsqni0 vs. Arakune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-bZxv2hOb0 vs. Bang http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS-4oHZc0NQ vs. Jin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-g9UzSemJB0 vs. Arakune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTGILMznstA vs. Haku-men http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vvExEClaqk vs. Jin Litchi and Ragna videos have some amusing Sticky Kitty shenanigans, and the last three have some quality combos in them (finally beat Score Attack before those, so I had a good warm-up). Here's the Tao mirrors featuring myself against LaReece, Plastic Chicken, and k2wax. Oops, fixed it.

I have a bunch of slightly older videos to post later (even one with PlasticChicken), but I had a match tonight that just had to go up ASAP. It's a pretty decent Ragna, and it came down to a pretty epic ending in Round 3. He didn't realize I had a trick up my sleeve... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyGBczPKlmk vs. Ragna

I don't know if this is the problem, but one thing I noticed while learning taunt -> 236cc combos is that you cannot double tap c before Tao is done with the 236c start-up animation. If you do, she'll do a small wind up like you're charging c and the combo will black beat or your opponent will tech out. Just do 236c and don't touch any buttons until Tao starts the downward swing of CS3.
-
Pretty much what OMG said, #2 is probably easier since the timing is fairly loose. Honestly, just pick whichever one you want and practice the crap out of it until you have it down, they're all doable. For Jins, you can just be doing regular 3c drive loops, the only difference with him is you only get 2 5d~6 -> j.c loops instead of 3. Is there a big damage difference I'm not aware of with that and these combos? If not, stick with the regular combo, it works. I've crawled under enough icecars to know...

I made a video about Super Flash Buffering with Tao. The original was taken off YouTube because of my background music (jerks), but I reuploaded it with regular audio. For those of you who want to rock out a little instead of hearing 4 minutes of Tao's DD cries, I'm putting up the original video on Rapidshare. Super Flash Buffering http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iv_LF2tM8hU http://rapidshare.com/files/297466221/Taokaka_-_Cat_scratch_fever.avi (143 MB) I suppose I'll put my last set of uploaded matches in here, too. I feel like I'm flooding the thread a bit, but I'm getting some good advice and no one's told me to get my scrubby ass out of here yet, so I suppose I'll keep it up. Another slew of replays uploaded by me. I ran into a level 60 Tao a while back, and had a pretty good match. Still a fair amount of mistakes, but definitely much better than my last mirror match... From 9/23 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-T0H50LShsc vs. Tao From 10/03 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opS5UvO41Q8 vs. Noel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NAEPONI5Ic vs. Jin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4p6uj0Uh2o8 vs. Ragna http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64KTI5jHhrA vs. Ragna http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE9ulMewgT8 vs. Ragna http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGjnLAEZS1c vs. Haku-men http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6tJqI4JIfU vs. Litchi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfUlALS7Cpc vs. Noel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcp7Lk_cExE vs. Haku-men I think I turned a corner this weekend. There seemed to be fewer glaring mistakes. I also tried adding a few new tricks to my repertoire. I also landed my first successful taunt combo online in the last Noel video at the very end, so I was really happy about that. I hope I can keep this up.

More vids from me. From 9/18, all vs. Tager http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yu2ZAk4DaZg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feM2qd-txTc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4VY8KkKGDY From 9/20 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVKbOEbvuIU vs. Arakune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kVp4_YmXjA vs. Arakune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C4Xd9aZAbA vs. Arakune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pj7eiQ2qC8U vs. Nu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU-kqmi0dXI vs. Tao It kind of feels like I'm only good enough to realize how badly I play while watching these replays. It's frustrating at times. The Tao mirror match is pretty much an exhibition of everything you shouldn't do while playing Tao... Half of me wants to laugh, because it's just comically bad, and half of me wants to because one of those Taos was me...
-
Well, I just tried it out, and I'm having serious trouble with it, too. I only got it to work on Tager and I think Arakune. I tried Jin and Ragna, but couldn't even get to the first j.c. Did you get the first j.c out, or was that where you're having problems? I don't think I've seen that combo before, either, it might be character specific.
-
I believe I tried that before, but had trouble with the drive after it, I guess I'll just have to give it another shot. The only other thing I ever managed to come up with was j.a -> j.a -> JC -> j.b+c, but that's kind of crappy. Nothing else would hit out of the JC, but maybe I should try that again, too. The weird thing is, I'm pretty sure I have hit that combo on Carl as is, or at least some version that I couldn't against Noel or Tao...
-
I'm having some trouble with one of my BnBs on Noel and Tao. 5b -> 3c -> 5d~6 -> (j.c -> 5d~6) x2/3 -> j.a -> j.c -> 8d -> air dash j.c -> j.236bb -> j.236bbbb Actually, it's pretty much any combo that does 5d~6 -> j.a -> j.c. I always whiff the j.c on Noel and Tao. Is this just a really strict timing issue, or can it just not be done on these two? Does anyone have any alternate ways to end the combo on these two? The only other alternative I've seen is using 5d~a -> 8d -> 8d~6 -> j.236bb... instead of j.a -> j.c, but I believe that will only work in the corner. I know that 3c -> 5d~6 -> j.c -> j.236b -> 2d~b etc. is usually better, and definitely works on everyone, but I still have trouble with it, and if I'm online my ~a, ~b, and ~c cancels aren't terribly reliable mid combo, so I wondered if there's a simple solution.
