I never got what the deal with "ego" preventing you from being observed was. Like, I get the general thrust of it, that Hakumen is too arrogant to submit himself to Kokonoe and get her help, but I'm not sure how that works in the first place. Didn't he want to come back and kill Ragna in the first place, so why would he want to resist. I guess he just wants to do things his own way.

Nah, it ends with him just being curled up in the Boundary all foreveralone. Basically so obsessed with Ragna that he was hallucinating over it.

No, Hakumen is basically just a haunted suit of armor. It's a metal shell with Jin's soul implanted into it. The CT Haku route was just a dream, so you can't really take that into account. But on the other hand, taking it into account anyway... it does mention he has a face that Ragna recognizes, although he doesn't have eyes. So maybe his body IS in there. But it's more like a Darth Vader type, half-man half-robot barely anything recognizable remaining type situation.
