  1. how can people not know the nu matchup, its so simple compare that to litchi or hazama or half of the cast
  2. Guaranteed startup? What's that mean? Even if you hit him out on the first frame the attack still comes out?
  3. I can't view the video now, but if I recall correctly Hakumen barrier'd it too. Which means it would be -9 at least.
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrsWN7pMjDM&t=3h06m16s here it is
  5. I think they increased the recovery on it. I saw a Hakumen get a 3C CH after blocking it, which is 8f. Maybe the Bang just immediately tried to do a move after it was blocked and got hit out of the startup though. Gotta check the video again.
  6. They focused her a lot more on zoning. So it would make sense if she became a great zoner as a tradeoff for losing some options she didn't really need to zone.
  7. but it says ragnas top tier lol
  8. Celica D tier my prayers are answered
  9. It's what chzchan said. It's basically "you decide."
  10. It's not a Tager chart.
  11. I thought this was supposed to be a tier chart for 1.1. Otherwise why would Makoto be dead last. It's not supposed to be a Tager matchup chart.
  12. Yeah, let's get back on topic about the game.
  13. It's still better to have our own translation on hand. Can't be sure about random video comments.
  14. Nah, I'll figure it out. Just carry on as usual. If anything becomes excessive I'll just nudge it back on course.
  15. To be honest, I have thought that myself. What IS the point of this thread? Almost everything that's discussed here, could be relegated to the character specific subforums. That, and since there is no clear objective, it's hard to define anything. If there's no rules then I don't even know what I'm supposed to enforce aside from people spamming gifs. It would be much better if there was a set of rules that everybody could follow. So I've always wanted to sit down and pin down some specific rules to get everybody on the same page. The problem is that once you get into it, you realize it's a lot harder than it looks. You somehow have to define a purpose for this thread that would exclude topics that can be discussed in character subforums but somehow are still gameplay related. Everything is connected, so that's pretty much impossible. This is why a lot of the times the mod interventions boil down to "I'm the mod, deal with it." There isn't really anything specific to point to but the mod's judgement. Plus a lot of the problems aren't related to actual violations, but matters of degree. Complaining about a character's balance is okay. But if that's the ONLY THING that ever happens ever then it spoils the discussion. It's like when you are at a party trying to talk to people, and one person keeps taking every single topic no matter what it is back to the thing that they want to talk about. You would get annoyed. Besides, after a while everybody gets the point. I could make a big deal every day about them shafting Hakumen's counters, but it's better served in the Hakumen subforums where there's a friendlier audience for that, and nobody wants to get surrounded by negativity 24/7. I've pretty much accepted that the balance is going to be a random potpourri of whatever the ArcSys gods deem worthy this time around, and just going to roll with it. Whatever it is, it'll get replaced by the next iteration after a little while, anyway. So it's a matter of degree. But you can't quantify that objectively, which means it goes back to the mods deciding when it feels like it's going too far. In the end it just means I'll have to steer discussion as usual. It's actually more work than having some set rules since you have to decide everything on a case by case basis instead of just pointing to a list and saying "nope, not allowed."
  16. I never know what to say for a critique. Everything seems so obvious. Also we need more veteran Haku players coming back. I feel like the only adult at a park swarming with kids nowadays.
  17. Treat him like a Street Fighter character. It's also easier at first to learn what NOT to do. Watch replays and ask for advice, and chisel out your mistakes one by one. (For instance, rolling excessively while in the corner.) The space around Hakumen is your territory. Don't just let them waltz into it, make them work for it. They should be beat up getting near you. Hang back until you knock them down or get a lot of stars, then go in to push your advantage. Also don't be afraid to block. Blocking is great; you're not "losing" if you're blocking. Every situation has an option that's good to deal with a particular problem and blocking is the right answer in a lot of those.
  18. Yeah, there are some habits every new Hakumen player has to break: 1) Mashing counter as a panic button. 2) Using C attacks and only C attacks. (His As and Bs are great too.) 3) Jumping around 24/7. All of those things have their place but not when you abuse them.
  19. I think people are overestimating that. How slow would the move have to be to punish it if you have to go all the way through gcOD time + your own punish startup.
  20. You might as well just gcOD. Actually, canceling out of the counter into OD would be useful in some specific situations that gcOD wouldn't apply in. Like if they weren't doing a blockstring but just throwing out a move you counter at neutral or wakeup. You could just naked OD through that, but I think that takes longer.
  21. That's an activation. A catch is when you actually grab them with the counter. In CP you can do Shippu after it.
  22. Let me rephrase that. I mean if we can do anything after a successful catch.
  23. At first I didn't like the loop, but it grew on me over time. It's not that different than his other combos. It ended up having just as much corner carry too. I pretty much always left out the last rep though. The main challenge so far seems to be what to do when you land a non-ideal starter. 6B combo damage should be down, I think, since you can't do the usual combo after CH. They just need to give Hotaru back its old height. I wonder if you can do a counter into Zantetsu.
