To be fair, if you were doing it, it would work perfectly. Fighting games are ultimately just pressing buttons and who pressed the buttons to beat the other person's buttons wins.
But about your situation, it sounds like you don't know what to do when your opponent doesn't respect your zoning essentially. If they are just running at you, why don't you just 5D or dash normal to make them stop. IAD back j2D should work as well.
You also sound like you have no defense and that is fixed by knowing the common blockstrings and how to get out of them. If you told us what blockstrings they were doing, we could tell you how to escape them.
Edit: Or better yet, tell us what characters you are fighting against and how exactly they are approaching you. It is just outright dashing or do they mix-up it up with IADs? Kind of hard to give general advice on zoning since it is situation dependent.
