  4. shenanigans should only get removed if they're actually broken like "whoops this completely makes this neutral game dumb" or "whoops this makes mixup/defense absurd" or if it is a clear case of "this character really doesnt need this and we want to emphasize different strengths" spending 25 meter on an ambiguous mixup seems fine to me honestly i dont think the word "read" means what you think it means it is always argueable whether some character completely denying the tools of other characters for no effort is fair for the matchup/enjoyment of players or not

Setups: Jet's ps3 and tv Jet's CRT and someone else's console Oldboy's setup Ro's setup Cookie's setup But yeah, gonna want another 1-3 setups, including one which is just a console to go with jet's CRT or whatever. Yukiko is awesome. BTW, 360 netcode is patched.

Most of my "tech" early on is just going to be some knowledge about what her ranged pressure options are in terms of dealing with rolls, making them not want to hit buttons, benefiting from their reluctance to hit buttons/move, etc. Feels like most of her really fancy tech has been made, gonna have to research her unblockable setups which she can set up off some things with just 25 meter it seems. I will end up tinkering around with jump cancels and crossups some though... also she has some sick juggles and mixups with 236AB which i will eventually learn, that move is too good. 25 meter and you basically just get to party Jet might play teddie btw. There's gonna be a lot of overlaps, only 12 charas, but that means we'll have a decent variety of matchup experience. I've never played persona :P Besides, i think every character is going to end up represented, so just appreciate the matchup experience.
  13. Playing Yukiko in Persona since the hybrid characters dont really fit me and I dont really want to play rushdown lately, although the rushdown characters in this game are great.   14. re: elizabeth persona pressure 5c strikes twice but she can cancel after the first strike whenever she wants(right after first, right before 2nd hits, after second hits), can go into 2c or 5d but not specials iirc(on block anyway) 2c has armor and beats rolls, no cancels after so you can just hit that(but if she's in range to 5b you may want to do 5a->jump block, and be careful because often the 2c pushes you too far to just jab) 5d is slow as fuck. watch elizabeth after learning her animations for each thing and you will react to that fine most of the time i think your main concern is her doing 5c over and over with the risk of 2c making you not want to hit buttons, since her meter gain makes simply waiting undesirable. dont over or underestimate her stuff. tinker with her in training mode, record things and see what works. akihiko has an option select involving parry i heard, dunno how that works
  15. Excited for Persona meetup Saturday. A bunch of people from DFW Facebook FGC group may come. I might be able to bring folding chairs, would have to stop by my apartment. Will bring a setup or two with Ro. Updated/cleaned up the front post for the first time in forever.
  16. Good post pfhor. Sorry for acting kinda weird/obvious. I just want a majority of our scene to go in hard and not just a few people who try to play seriously on each game which others just play rather casually, so i just really wanted to dissuade some things that can water down people's attitudes. CHIE SHOVES DICKS INTO HER ASS WITH A BULLDOZER Does anyone who already has the game decided on their main?

  18. The problem isnt just Oh, some people whine about stuff. The problem is that often a player's reaction to running into trouble isnt "Hm, what can I do about that?" but "God damn fucking <x>, that <move/chara> is so fucking stupid." whether or not the trouble is their own playstyle or pacing, the character they're facing, etc. People are often more hungry for whining than they are for adapting and improving. There's dumb herd mentality shit in this, too. A bunch of people see that someone gets bitched about, and they jump on board and start seeing things through that lens. Confirmation bias and shit plays into this, too; whether or not a chara is complained about depends on whether people have seen that attitude repeatedly towards that chara, regardless of whoever's strength. No, you just gotta know your shit, and not just follow what a bunch of people said on twitter. I'm not discounting that Chie or whoever may take less effort and may have too strong mixup/pressure based off other tools. I am not saying that characters/tools cannot be dumb or badly designed as long as there's no bad matchups created by them. I am just saying to look before you leap, test out and know and observe lots of shit in relation to something before claiming that thing is messed up or braindead. That is seriously all that I am asking, that people take shit seriously and be hungry to beat something, not to just immediately go "AWWW FUCK ITS BROKE" and ram their head against the wall the same exact way over and over again. People dont even think about when they time their attacks, they just take their initial attempts as a solid example of how their tools can deal with the other set, regardless of how it could have been different. But if you know your shit and something is unfair, sure! Complain about it! There's dumb shit in even matchups! Just be more hungry to learn, test, adapt and win than to have kneejerk herd complaints.
  19. I know people can bitch and still adapt. But I still think bitching(not to be confused with complaining about legit dumb things like valk vs tager) is pretty much useless and braindead and just damages things. It makes people take shit less seriously(much against what you want if you want people to go in on an anime game hard for once, pfhor), it confuses newcomers like sloppy uses of the word "broken", 95% of the time it is braindead, it usually doesnt acknowledge how people's own charas have annoying strengths as well and the nature of heterogeneous game balance, and it contributes to negative perceptions about lesser played FGs and general acidity. Bitching about charas because they have different strengths than your own is the modern "Throws are cheap!" I dont think it even helps people let off steam, since it is very self-fueling, just leads to more complaining about something that may just be something to learn, not something that is just stupid like tager vs valk. People often assume there's nothing to lab when they hear repeated bitching about something.

I know saying "Fuck Chie" is funny and all but shit like that doesnt make you a better player or understand how to fight a character better. Many things are simply a matter of adapting or removing old habits. Keep in mind that sometimes your chara wont haev a good answer. Avoid the situation. Just like how you get excited when your character has some amazing strength, you have to deal with the fact that other charas have them too. That is the nature of a diverse and interesting cast, of asymmetrical balance. Understand your character. Understand their character. Lab shit. Dont bitch and whine unless you know all your options and know the situation shouldn't be how it seems to be. I've seen people bitch that their character has no "perfect" options against Tager gadget finger oki without 100 meter. Dont be that guy. You're always going to have to face tough situations, the game has heterogeneous characters, and everything is situational. Stop viewing characters as "Ohh that character is so dumb I hate them." While there are legitimately dumb things, often people simply dont prepare themselves to cope with a character's strengths and just get salty and use perceptions of tier lists as confirmation bias. Dont whine unless you KNOW something is bullshit(and not just "ohh this situation is hard" but "this situation shouldnt be hard". Just because you dont like that something leads into a ton of damage, doesnt mean it is wrong/dumb/bad, there's a difference between your perception of fair and what is actually fair), learn about the chara, see how they approach the situation and what they have to give to get in that situation in the first place. You're going to be startled by things at first. Yuu's oki, Chie's mixup, Elizabeth's damage, Yosuke's air low, Mitsuru's 5a, Teddie's 5b and j.c, Yukiko's absolute control of the screen, etc etc. Dont settle with "This pisses me off!" Replace annoyance with curiousity, understand the situations that give you trouble and counter autopiloting instead of autopiloting into your own loss. Sometimes, what you want/think isnt the best way to win things, you will not always pick the logical way to approach a problem. Be hungry. Learn and try what you have to to win. I would really like to see us go in hard on Persona and have consistent, healthy competition. This is not a chance to squander. Have fun, lab shit, take the game "seriously", dont rest on salt and autopiloting, attend events and meetups(not just ones that are posted about here if you can!), and go in hard for ANIMMEEEEE or whatever the fuck you like about these games. ...also while I am more immediately hype about Persona, new BB changes look interesting(EX moves for all! more details below in my response to yeti if you are unaware), and I LOOOOVEEE the 3 new charas. :3 They all pander to me and look fucking amazing ajgdlkgjlsgdjl they are my favorite in all of BB aside from litchi and nine. "Revision" and "sequel" are both rather arbitrarily separated, honestly. It looks like a bigger jump than BBCT->BBCS1. Everyone has EX moves, guard primer/bars are gone, more new moves for charas than in BBCS as well as move alterations, burst system changed, everyone has an overdrive thing which is an install sort of thing(kinda like battle fantasia) for everybody based on a meter separate from super meter, there's some sort of new guard break with 25% meter thing for everyone, IIRC this is the final story continuation, and they actually redrew shit(as if they needed to, lol).   25. It basically just means you have to worry about baiting reversals more. However, normal reversals dont lead into damage without meter in this, so often the risk reward is heavily in your favor, and slab's persona helps her bait them a lot.
