Yea, but in AC, you can still do retard stuff. For example the corner setup H~P/K fish iad.2S, ad.2S j.H > combo You can just counter that with 2S 2H and the 2S will take the fish while dodging the j2S and then you'll get a free 2H CH Dizzy is also the only character except Potemkin (and possibly Faust) against whom it is safe to do 421S after non-CH burst.
-
Also be wary of jump-in j.214D,land, throw
-
Yea, that happened to me too in Slash, I had Pot in the corner and did 623S > K fish, and he flicks when the fish bites. Wave comes out, fish disappears but scythe doesn't (because it has two more hits), so it looks like he's flicking the fish.
-
I'm pretty sure he can't, how did you discover it? I thought he could some time ago, but it was only an illusion because he flicked something else at the same time as bite hit him.
-
I don't see it as a last option, regardless of opponent. It's part of the overall mixup game, not just something to resort to if they block too well. Hell, sometimes I tick throw even if I land the hits before. But I still don't see a specific setup for tick throws. Yes, you need to create the uncertainty, but that isn't hard at all, it comes with the the rest of the mixups. It's the same as the S bubble crossup fake, it requires conditioning. For example: Do meaties to stuff reversals and jump-out and when they try to block that you throw them instead
-
Dizzy doesn't need specific setups for tick throwing, in most cases you can just stop whatever you were doing and throw instead, you don't even need to hitconfirm. It's really easy to get in just before or just after a laser or homing pike. It's definitely not last option, then you're just using it wrong.

Tick throwing is the natural enemy of patience

Yea, Chapter 3 is possibly the biggest, but I think it can be shortened somewhat if we can list the general principle behind okizeme and giving examples instead of listing every okizeme known to man. As for the Appendix, I don't think I'll take EVERY character - it is not going to be a video representation of the matchup thread by any measure. Rather, it should go through some common problems dizzy players may find difficult and annoying, such as reversals with more than one hit (VV, Starship and such), catch reversals (Axl, testament), Baiken. Simply put those situations where playing Dizzy like normal really screws you over. As far as I know, I'm doing the recordings alone. It would be nice if someone else had a capping card but I don't think capturing from other CMVs or Match videos is a very good idea. I'd prefer to keep everything roughly the same quality and most CMs and Matchvids just aren't good enough :\ Edit: The optimal would be to fit every chapter to youtube length, so if I notice something is going to take way too much time, I'll either have to do some creative cutting or simply divide stuff into more chapters

I actually disagree with this. Given a choice between knockdown in corner and midscreen knockdown I always go for the corner. In the corner you can get at least two mixups from almost any given setup. And you can substitute almost every other hit for a tick throw. You also have decently damaging guaranteed resets and really damaging non-resets. Midscreen is definitily not bad, but it has its flaws, the biggest of which is that many cross-up mixups are pretty demanding in their spacing requirements and usually only give one shot at the mixup. Also some resulting combos may not give knockdown on lights.

Alright, guys, thanks a lot for your input Down to the actual planning. In my opinion, it would be best to divide this stuff into chapters, seeing as there might be quite a lot to cover, and it would be a mess making just one long thing. However, all these things weave into each other at many different points. You can't really explain a combo without explaining the setups for it, even though the setups usually are a lot more advanced. Anyways, here's my suggestion of what it should look like Chapter 1: Normals, specials, basic combosChapter 2: Zoning/Spacing, defense, summonsChapter 3: Mind games/okizeme/tick throwsChapter 4: Advanced setups/inputs/combosAppendix: Character specifics I know chapter 4 is not that important compared to the rest, but I feel that the other three need to be explained before the fourth one. You can't do good setups without knowing the mind games behind them, imo But most important of all WHAT SOUNDTRACK SHALL WE USE?!?
-
This is pretty much my original thought, although I'm not sure about K~H fish, as I never use it myself, but if you have a good application for it, I'd be glad to take it up

Yea, I know ice spike is works, but that requires you have the right spacing in, and that you stay on the ground. The nice thing with FB bubble is you can toss it out from anywhere and it gives you a huge AoE that should take the shadow or at least force eddie to block and then you can start the lockdown / zoning in peace I played two eddies at showdown, one wasn't so protective of the shadow, but was more eager to get him in a position from where he could begin the rape. Against that kind of player you can ice spike the shadow pretty easily. But the other player was extremely protective of him, and that was really annoying with the drills and things always preventing me from hitting it.

I used to try to SB Venom's charged stinger aim > throw, which is hilarious if it works, but then he started doing max range 2d instead I hate Venom's 2d so much I've been thinking some against the Eddie matchup, but I don't have any local Eddies to try on, does anyone know how good 214D is against him? I'm thinking it should be a god send for killing the Shadow, but I'm unable to test it

I've been thinking about doing Dizzy video tutorials for some time. Now I finally have the capping card again so I can begin slightly. My first thought was only to make it about okizeme and mind games, but I'm not sure, so basically, I'm creating this thread to see what people would like to see in such a video, or if you think it's a good idea at all. So Do you guys think it's a good idea? "Advanced" stuff only or should it be a complete guide, like rundowns of normals, specials, zoning, combos and stuff like that? Anything special you want to see in it? I know we have good players here, if you want to contribute, it would really be appreciated. So basically, that's it, post thought and comments please

Don't do a bubble loop unless you're sure it's going to kill the opponent (or it's Baiken, always go for max damage on Baiken). Some characters are just too dangerous to let out of the corner regardless of damage. Combo priority against most characters is 1) Kill 2) Knockdown in corner 3) Knockdown anywhere else 4) Damage
-
I wouldn't recommend it so much, seeing as he can hit you while the CSE is active, he might also go for a jump-in for mixup. In both cases that SB will get severely punished

Thanks a lot Nooj, hoping to collect as many pictures as possible from the epicness. And speaking of epic, the big team battle is finally done. This monster is weighing in at 140 minutes and 1GB! http://thepiratebay.org/tor/4131315 enjoy

Eh, most players do small combos, you see some players trying for air spike but that's risky, seeing as you need to confirm both the counter and that the player is positioned right, which is almost impossible, so you have to guess whether the air spike will connect or not. I think 2s > air combo is the best option, simply because it will always work, and it will get them off you. If you end with j.D you'll knock them away far enough to have good time to set shit up while you're still off screen on the ground. Flashy combo = corner rape to bubble loop As for Imperial Ray, eh, I feel the same way, if the opponent has the potential to gain momentum it's just bullshit unblockable and they're back on square one

If you don't need background music, the movies are all on the discs as MPEG-2 files. They're called MOVIE.PCK, or in the case of Accent Core, MOVIE_AC.PCK, but you can just open them in any media player. If you do want music, you're going to have to rip the song from MUSIC.PCK and interlace it with the video with something like VirtualDub

Edit: One of the vids in the torrent lacked sound, so I will upload a new one in a minute. Sorry Edit 2: Here's the new Torrent

Yea, it is. I did the same testing. I would have preferred a throw invulnerable ground move, but this is good to know nonetheless
-
Nope, it's very custom. "Guilty Gear Accent Core Miles Davis Edition" to be exact. But, no, asking for and distributing ISOs is not kosher here, but I'm sure Shinjin can give you a tracklist. I don't have it, all I know is that the songs are awesome

I made a slightly more comprehensible bracket. I think everything is right, but I'm not sure
