List Naoto's tools, and Akihiko's answers and possibilities to them. Also an answer from Naoto's tools to Akihiko's tools. Finally give your opinion on who you think has an advantage (ie. 5-5 no one's favor, or 6-4 Akihiko's favor, or whatever). Have fun! -Barz
Barzorx Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 This is a terrible matchup for akihiko, probably 7-3 in favor of naoto at the worst or 6-4 at best. Her DP destroys most of akihiko pressure, but thats not really the biggest issue. Her 2A is pretty fast and when mashed properly actually beats up most of akihiko's pressure too. Not to mention just going in is a pain in the !@#$, she can keep pressure on akihiko fairly consistently. If she also does fuzzy jumps, it becomes even harder since she's slowly shooting down (see what I did there?) your options as akihiko, In this version we're not completely defenseless, SB sonic can go through her traps and if used properly you can turn things around. But other than that, her jC comes out too fast and is hard to anti air, her billion jA slaps can create easy opportunities, and you'll lose a bunch of your skulls just trying to get in because of how annoying it can be. The best option is usually to use D moves to pull her in, but even then it's not that easy for akihiko to open her up. With all that being said akihiko damage is still a thing and you can beat her up if you manage to open her up. Just be patient, do proper pressure dont just mash on buttons, don't go in without thinking about your surroundings, and be prepared for a very exhausting set.
tresmigistus Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Completely agree with Barz on this. It's an uphill battle and sadly to say, it's a pretty huge hill. Her j.C is a very annoying attack and near impossible to anti-air imo. When she has 75 meter, the next touch is definitely going to lead into her EX super which not only mutes you, but wrecks your fates. Also, a good Naoto can lead into a very difficult to block mixup afterwards which ends rounds Esther quickly. If you find yourself muted & feared, I would not recommend charging inn cause that's what they want you to do. Surprisingly I find her gunshots quite easy to deal with. But in terms of footsies, her normals beat Aki's which is rather unfortunate. Make very good use of SB Sonic when dealing with traps and Gravity often when you have her in pressure. IB or C Weave her gunshots for quick and easy meter. Be very cautious when she's airborne and close cause one j.C from her can easily ruin your day. Get her in the corner and WHATEVER YOU DO stay out of her grab range.
