Xrd - Just YRC

I hope this has not been mentioned before. This is a simple video that I made.

http://youtu.be/8VWyv-D1ip0

The hardest thing to do correctly on reaction save for some reaction based clashes.  :thumbu:

The main rule is to time it right to get the 2 active frames invincibility

1- You can just yrc from any yrc but you have to keep in mind the timing.
2- In many cases its better than backdash, backdash yrc, etc...
3- Some characters have the advantage of instant air move Just YRC.
4- No penalty to counter attack like with Blitz.
5- Can be cancelled with blitz to reject 3rd active frame

you can read about the frames in the wiki.

I have never seen anyone do it in a match or heard anyone mention it, that is why i posted it. In my opinion, usage of this tech (however specific it may be) will lead to the moments with the epitome of hype.

you're suggesting that people use the two frames of invul on RCing to dodge stuff? If somebody can do that in a match consistently then all the power to them

I can't find anywhere where this is mentioned in either the Dustloop or the 4gamer wiki. Wonder if it's a glitch?

YRC is invul on the 6th frame and the 25th frame, but 7~24 is time stop and both characters cannot move, so.

Then, I am glad. But I hope it does not get patched.   :(

That is why I've written advanced. It is not impossible, especially when you know your match-up and opponent.

Link with info? I just wanna make sure.

And yeah, this would definitely fall under a limited and advanced application. Something to use when you're pretty sure of what's going to happen next and you have awesome timing.

It seems like the application would be specific situations where the very limited invincibility frames would save your ass but blitz shield, for whatever reason, wouldn't.

Okay, that explains why my f.5S whiffed through an enemy Sin's eat yrc even though I input my 5S way before his yrc input.

That was an accident but still I'm glad that I'm not completely retarded and this is actually a thing.

You are still receiving the 80% proration from RC. Look at 0:37 and check the damage on 5H

Does that OS Throw dodge still work if Sol does 6K+H? Can you throw him out of 5K?

Posted

I'd absolutely crap myself if I ever saw someone IK me for doing 5HS like shown here.

It's impressive, but not practical for the most part. Not only do you use 25 meter, you also get proration, making this an unreliable and less damaging way to punish. Still, good video and nice find.

this is approximately 50% what's wrong with YRC

Kindly elaborate and explain. I am all for FRC to make a comeback as I am an old timer ggxxac fan. However, using YRC like this in a real match is not easy at all, nor is it a one tool to defeat all options. I think some of its applications are harder than any frcs or slashback. With the way xrd is set up now, it is hard to see YRC removed.

Did you honestly have this two-frame invul window ever affect your real matches?

The only thing that's really wrong with YRC are the anti-Burst option selects, and they're removing those already. The system is easy to use, hard to master, creates a great deal more options than FRC did and is all-around well thought out. PRC's are bad, and they're supposed to be (I always saw them as more of a punishment for a bad YRC than a real option for the most part), but they're a little too bad right now - thankfully that's getting fixed too.

Mechanics-wise, Xrd is really great. Character balance kinda drags the overall impression down a little bit, but it's still a really good game.

Using frc EXACTLY like this is impractical, especially when you have blitz shield.  I just mean the number of advantages that YRC gives at the touch of a button, all that suddenly make poking a bad idea.

DAA OS is kinda dumb too and I think that's staying in in 1.1

Blitz return OS is not that bad imo but I'd personally rather not have it either

Posted

Yeah, but you can't easily remove the blitz return os honestly.  Blitz was made to be countered by yrc, so you would have to create a new state for blitz shields done within the return state that still counts as hit/blockstun for the purposes of yrc.

@dude: the advantage of the yrc is it counters both throws and hits.

that shouldn't be hard to program. they're fixing the yrc option select for blue bursts in 1.1 so i'm sure a similar fix could be added for dead angles and return blitzes. why they didn't eludes me :( seems pretty obvious once you see that it can be done for bursts.

the yrc option select on air techs isn't as clear cut though...

Posted

Well, for blue bursts its pretty easy.  Burst is now a hittable/block state I imagine, so that's an easy fix.  Right now return blitz is the same state as neutral blitz, so you would have to define them seperately.  Might be easy, might not be.
