Narroo Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 So, my Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 Died today; I need a replacement. I haven't looked at joysticks in reals, so I figured I'd quick as if anyone is familiar with what would be a comparable replacement. NOTE: I do have some decent Senwa buttons/stick from when a Cthuhlu died in an upgrade gone wrong. So if it doesn't require soldiering, I could always swap the buttons out.
Ichipoo Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Bought a Hori Fighting Edge for the PS3 about two years ago. Love its size and the smooth Hayabusa joystick. Buttons don't require any soldering IIRC? Opened it up once to replace the template and each button is connected by two wires, which are easily detachable. A potential turn off could be that it relatively low rating in regards to Teyah's arcade stick input lag tests, assuming you care about that stuff. I personally don't, stick works fine for me and I can barely tell the difference. http://www.teyah.net/sticklag/results.html
Narroo Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 Input lag is my mortal enemy! Thank you for that link, it's pretty helpful.
qwerty Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Just get a new PCB for it like an MC Chtulhu or PS360, dude. It's not that hard to install and you won't have to spend nearly as much.
KentoHardRok Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Take this as a sign to upgrade to a ps3/ps4 stick. The ps360+ works for ps4 but with some work arounds. Go with HrapV4 to save 50 bucks or mad catzTE2 if it's available, it's has quality and feel.
Tigre Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Cheapest solution is definitely to get a new PCB and chuck it in there. PS360+ will work on PS4 with an 8 minute timeout, Akishop has claimed that they are working on a hardware solution to fix it. The Mortal Kombat X pad for PS3/PS4 is another option, but not suitable if you want to put another pcb in there as (so I'm told) if the pcb detects it's not receiving inputs after a certain timeout period it drops all the signals to low, I have not had a chance to test this myself. The Hori Fighting Commander 4 also comes out in the US at the end of the month, and is a really nice pcb to work with.
