I had some troubles with Carl last night that I met. I don't know this match up really well, but whenever you get between Nirvana and Carl and does that punch loop and you block it... How do I get out of that loop? Is it just simply barrier block and jump out? Also should I play this game zone out wise or rush down style or both? I played about 3 Carls in whole PSN so far. *edit* I wasn't getting owned or anything, it was more back and forth thing. I just want to be more consistent on my wins.

You want to play runaway in this matchup. Carl has a lot of problems trying to get in on you from full screen range. He'll practically be forced to use Nirvana to take some hits to get in on you. He also doesn't really have an answer for 6a. If he tries to teleport Nirvana in while approaching you, just back away or switch sides. Be a pain in the ass and attack Nirvana before and after her attacks with things like spamming 5a > 5b > IAD away when Carl tries to save her. If you ever catch Carl alone or Nirvana breaks down, rush him down. But watch out for his gear super since he is more than willing to trade hits to land that on you and stall for time. Don't get caught in between him and the doll and don't get caught in the corner. Punch loops are still very dangerous and have good potential for resets. IB and jump away is the main way to get out of this since barrier becomes useless as Nirvana keeps moving you closer to Carl. And don't get caught without wind otherwise he can still do the clap loop on you. You also need to learn how to wind yourself away from the doll after a teched air throw. Sometimes, this means winding yourself downwards if he has you in the corner. Otherwise, this should be one of Rachel's easiest matchups.

yea i believe this is one of rachels easiest match-ups, i feel kinda bad for carl...rachel can play run away the whole game in many sisutations that other charaters cant.The only way carl can get in is by doing nirvannas drill forward move which rachel cannot do anything about execpt super jump or instant block it...but if u super jump then ur caught between carl and nirvanna which is something u do not wanna do.I dont know why they gave carl the hop instead of a run animation. the slide upper body invinciblity is kool for anti sword iris. But because it travels so far u cant use it repeatedly to get where u want. Also i feel as though another good way for carl to get in is by using nirvanna as a shield, and hop behind her, which works well also for setting up corner pressure if your already full screen away.The most dangerous thing carl can do is the cross with the down spike its very good, if he misses or u block it hes safe to still pressure u.

one very useful tactic I use: At full screen, when one side has Carl, one side is Rachel, and Nirvana in middle (or near it). Put a pumpkin out, then wind it forward,wait a sec, then IAD. It will project Rachel the perfect arc to land right on Carl, and over any doll attacks. Carl will block the pumpkin, forcing him to be grounded when Rachel arrives on the other side, and stops him from using an Anti air. Once there, begin Rachel mix up/rush down. Another: If carl is far away, and Nirvana is in your face, if hes going to use Nirvana, do a run up 6A, 5B, IDA back wards. This is a very safe way to deal damage to Nirvana, as you hurt Nirvana while created good space. While in the air, put a sead/pumpkin/king george out. ^^ Hope this helps.

i actually ran into some trouble with a carl, though it was laggy as shit online im not sure, i beat him 17 times but he did manage to beat me 6, the thing that kept gettin me is him mashing j.a, 5.a, j.b i think to get out of pressure, these and some other moves come out lighting fast and have more range then your normals do that normally would work in other situation where you could have lockdown. Generally when i tried to pressure him her would super jump and start mashing j.a and i could reach and 6a is far to slow to interpret that move, if i brought him to the groung via pumkin his j.a still beat me after i landed and canceled into 5b several times. its a real pain.

damn lol fought another carl, and lost to him...after destorying him the first time around...i got bursted while i was blocking his fast as strikes(during the second match) and it broke my guard and then he did that cog distrotion drive after that he just poke around at me in the corner and theres was nuthing i could because my attacks do not beat any of his, air to air or ground to ground its extremely hard locking carl down, after nirvanna breaks im not even going to chase him its way to much effort.
