Binh Mighty Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Even though Bang is low tier, I don't play this match up that often. Bangs I played like to cross up kick a lot so I just jump with him trying to catch him with j.C. But the problem lies whenever he puts pressure me and throws out that stupid counter. Is there a way to stop that or bait it? I try to throw too much to avoid the counter but I end up getting hit from his pressure string because I guess wrong. Can anyone give me some pointers?
KaiAskari Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 i'm definitely no expert, but I've had some success against Bang counters with a 2A or two followed by 2C electric chair. I don't know off the top of my head how it manages the throw counter, but against the others it tends to eat his attack and shock him for his troubles.
pewter Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 2C is def a tool to be used on fast characters like Bang. You can restrict his movement with wind just as much as you can boost your own. A big part of bang is learning his block strings; after a few matches they should be pretty obvious to you. After you got that down, use your barrier so you screw up his spacing. Rachel has to play conservatively on most of her matchups and I think this is one of them. Unless you can predict a rushdown, it's better to just block it against Bang. Get to know what his drives look like so you know not to try to poke him out of it. Most bang players will do the same 2-3 combos over and over on you, so use their lack of flavor against them.
kro_ Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Watch for his command throw and be wary of trying to summon pumpkin or frog when he does the triple shuriken. He can also guardpoint your projectiles and use them to teleport and get in on you.
Binh Mighty Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Thanks for the feedback, very informative. Does anyone know Bang's BnB combo? I like to record it during training mode and see what my options are whenever i do block it. I'm going to guess to do electric chair on the 4th hit, seeing that the 5th hit is his drive.

karaageteba Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 if the bang likes to spam his D moves, Rachels 3c can go through the blocking and then hit him a few times after
Coinage Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I played a Bang player, I noticed his D moved are EASILY countered with 5A.

sogos Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 get out of the rachel section i know youre scared of me and all but reading wont help son
PrinnyDood Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I got RAPED by a Bang the last night. Mostly because I may have underestimated him (Bang wasn't that much of a problem, yet). He pulled off some really good, long combos and the preasure never stopped. Never even once got a pumpkin/frog setup. Mostly I was winding away, shooting lobelias.

Why are you wasting wind running away from Bang?
Reioumu Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Spamming lobelias isn't always the best idea. Against Rachel I tend to 2D guard point them and tele in. If he's in the air, go ahead and use wind and your lobelias to start rushing him down, but also watch his nails He can only use his triple nail 4 times per round. I've been beating just about every Rachel I faced online including tons of 50+s. But yeah, cmon Rachels, I wanna see more from you guys (and more Miku)
DC Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I was playing a Bang a few days ago and noticed that every round he would start off by jumping diagonally backwards and throwing his 3 shurikens... is there anything I can do besides block this? I mean it's not actually a problem since it drains 3 shurikens and I take no damage, but I couldn't figure out a way to punish this without getting hit or ch.
Reioumu Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Just block the nails, or backdash and block so he can't really do much. If he tries to airdash at you, just use wind and a lobelia That's a terrible start for any Bang really. Usually when a Bang starts with a jump backwards, it's to watch what you're doing. Though that's a bad idea against Rachel since that just sets up for wind -> corner. Bang doesn't like his back to be in the corner
kro_ Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 You can 6a his triple shurikens at startup, block all of them with the upper body invincibility, and land a CH on him for a free combo. If Bang corners you and puts up one of those wheels, he can get behind you even if you're all the way in the corner and cross you up. He can also feint the crossup into a down-forward air dash and go for a quick low attack. Do not burst predictably especially when he has you in a ground string. He can cancel into a guardpoint or more commonly a super. This will avoid the burst and punish you for massive damage.
Coinage Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 On ground, Bang pretty good mix-ups. Usually loves to end tripping you. As a Rachel player, me personally when I know he goes for trips, do j.2c -> combo. He does have a almost constant ground pressure. I trip him when I get the chance and set things up afterward. Pro Bang players are pro for a reason.

As many as of you guys know about the option select blocking in this game (holding 4 or 1 with A+B+C) The command grab beats this. So this leaves me a guessing game of me either blocking or jumping out or throwing something out. Has any of you guys found out the best way to avoid this okizime game? I really love to block but the command grab does a lot of damage apparently. I really don't play many bangs that know what they are doing. But when I do come across to one, I don't do very well.
currentlemon Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Does anyone know what to do when Bang is in FuRinKaZan? I have trouble fighting against Bang players who do this. __________________ BB Main: Subs:

I have trouble fighting against Bang players who do this. _______ BB Main: Subs: (learning) Would actually like to know if there's a general sort of response to FRKZ Bang, actually. I just tend to wind at him the moment he jumps, since he stalls out in the air when you do that. That, or try for the 6a CH. I find 6b somewhat unwieldy for stopping his ground approach, while 2b/5b works alright.

Don't tech and wait for them to whiff the command grab. That works against most. When Bang whiffs a grab, it leaves him wide open so that should give you enough time to tech and get in his face for it. Overall, you don't want to be tech happy against Bangs. There's actually not all that much they can do to you while you're knocked down (they can like poke at you and stuff, but nothing that leads to a lot of damage, if they go for a super you have more than enough time to tech and barrier guard). The command grab nonsense comes from tricking you into teching predictably.
Tsuuna Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Run up on yo' 2C. Command grab. Woo. Tech dat'.
TD Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Once l get Bang in the corner it's gg ^-^ I fought a Bang the jumped constantly... it was very hard to do anything.
