Ok so more than likely this weekend I'm gonna be back down in Dayton til about sunday and I would like to play some games be it BB or GGXAC. I really want to play some fighting games.. meaning MATT better get a hold of NICK and try to arrange something this weekend lol.

Dude, I do want to hang with you again and get some games in, but I'm not sure I'll be available this weekend. When do you plan on coming into town?

Mac Holland: My going to AL on Thursday depends largely on your attendance. Can you make it?

@ Kamui Moon's uploads: Hmm . . . it seems as fireballs aren't my friend . . . using S/HS/Greedy is good at the right times, bad at the wrong times . . . and I need to practice avoiding tick throws, especially if I'm facing a pressure character (btw, great timing on all of the throws). Anything else you would like to add? I'd like for my next match to be less . . . bad okizeme and zoning. @ AL Thurs night fights: Damn: sounds great ($4 is great for me), but I can't make it. Anywho: any ideas how to get a friend who's addicted to TCGs into actual video game competitions? I really need a "proving ground" other than Magic or YGO (where money is a big factor) where I can actually beat my friend.

I don't know about tomorrow, Eric. Got shit with band to do. Almost 2 weeks 'til showtime, y'know. What about this weekend? I don't know why, but I've been ITCHING to play some GG. (I guess that's how it should be, huh? Lol.) Also need suggestions on a sub. Sol ain't doin justice for me.

lol "sub." you can screw around with any number of other characters, but there are so few people with actual legit subs.

ELC, the right time for Greed Sever is never, and fireballs will be your friend when you use them right. Order Sol is fast, so chances are when you're recovering from throwing out your fireballs, he's already over them/under them/past them in some way, so be sure to be aware of what your opponent can do and play safer. A good way to use fireballs is to end block strings so that you know the fireball will make contact, and you don't have to worry about being punished for it. Never randomly throw out a charged stunedge for no reason. This move is best canceled into from a sweep. This way, when your opponent stands back up, they have to block 3 hits before they can do anything else, giving you time to go for high/low mixup and keeping the pressure on them.

As for making a card game player play fighting games, you got me on that one. I mean, the way you present it is as if you need something you can beat your friend at. I don't think your friend particularly cares to have something you can beat him at. Also, if he doesn't play, chances are you can already beat him at GG (I hope.) If you want him to play, you have to be ready for the possibility of him being able to beat you. At any rate though, I have had little success getting any of my friends to play Guilty Gear unless they were already somewhat interested in fighting games at least.

Eric, how many matches did you get? Did you get my match with Brent? I seem to remember you did, but not 100% sure.

i've got about 5 more matches left to upload, Matt. they're going up now. you vs Brent is in there somewhere, as well as all of cbus Matt's matches. my internet is slow and i didn't reduce the filesizes enough, so it's a slow process. Bobby: is saturday night cool?

My stick is fixed~ and it works great on my PS3 and PC! Anyone who borrows it from here on out, please, be careful with the USB cord. I don't want those soldered connections breaking.

Yeah I should be free Saturday at the moment. Hopefully I have my goddamn Wii by then for we can screw around with TvC and some other shit.

You're right to an extent: I need another game I can beat him at, but not purely for the fact that I can beat him. It gets really annoying to know you're a better strategist being forced to 'wait' for the killing blow because he wants to deal massive damage. . . . I guess a GG analogy would be one character beating another within an inch of their life with only abare (that's the term for random-hit-damage, right?) and finishing with an IK. But I'm not worried about it: if my experience with the game itself is going to be that much of a difference, then there really isn't a point in proving my experience in general.

...Dammit: I need to stop sounding so melodramatic. Basically, I'm cool with just playing the game for the sake of playing, good music, and a good (imo: at the least it's interesting) story.

this isn't a good way to go about competitive games, especially in this kind of atmosphere. you won't win a game. i read a quote the other day from Joe Montana in his prime, and he basically said something like, "don't practice for the sake of practice, don't practice so you can get something down. you better practice to make it automatic." playing simply for the sake of playing is not playing at all. i've really got nothing more than training mode, but i truly practice every facet of my game to make it automatic.

that's why weekends like this past weekend really infuriate me, because i didn't play anywhere near my potential and i couldn't even count how many combos i dropped. hitting that training mode harder than ever right now.

not trying to discourage you or anything, but serious practice really means everything. i also don't know of any way to get your friend involved, because people really need to have a competitive spirit and a liking for fighting games before they even think of starting into a game like this.

i wish i lived closer to you guys.

Matt- I'll be in town friday night around like 7-8ish and then I'll be there all weekend til about 3-5ish on Sunday. Koopa- You live in BG? Like where at cause I'd be down to play BB or GG if you wanted to sometime, I live off route 6 in some podunk town named Weston now but I will be moving to BG soon off of Prospect I think, some apartment complex, and that'll be set up for gaming so as a side note to all, if your in the BG area sometime next month I will have an apartment to play GG or whatever your kick is.

Good games tonight, friends. Jack, that part where you jumped straight into that net and then all the bad stuff happened was really funny. So anyway, looks like we're all team Hazama in CS lol. Also, Ben, Friday night I definitely have plans. Hopefully I'll work something out for Saturn's day. Unless Nick is going to Ohayocon, I don't know what we can do in that case.

Yeah ... you pretty much hit the nail on the head in terms of how I typically go about playing any game (i.e. very casually). I tend to view the initial creativity and experimentation (and inevitable losses) as much more enjoyable than the resulting efficiency and consistency (and inevitable wins), which is why I also tend not to 'study' the combo threads for each character.

Then again, training would help speed the experimentation process to a suitable level of efficiency: any recommendations for settings?

Turn input display on so you can see where you screwed up, and where your frc points are (if you don't know them). Make it so the dummy techs backwards. Neutral tech is slower than forward or backward, and if you have them tech forward, they'll switch sides on you, which can get annoying if you're trying to practice something. Set tension to infinite if you want, just keep in mind how much tension you're using per combo.

If there's a certain block string you want to figure out how to get out of, you can record the dummy to do it (assuming you can input it yourself) and play it back against yourself as many times as necessary.

C-BUS: Where's the party? JackG & Kyle will be around!

May help to call Paul or somebody. Maybe Jacob. I don't think Columbus is too active on here anymore. You could also check essarkay.

Also, what is the text in your AV?
