We already watched the world burn with Wily v Eggman :P Anyhow, my bet is on Sol if he removes his headband. Just seems like releasing his inhibitor on his Gear cells would just devastate Ragna (well, maybe: don't know much about Ragna to tell the truth). After all, Sol beat Justice with his headband on, and they are both Gears.

If you don't mind shelling some money out (but not as much as you would for a good stick), you can try to hunt down a good USB Neo Geo Controller. I'm receiving mine from a Japanese vendor through Amazon.com for about $100. Haven't tried it out myself yet, but I've heard good things in general about the Neo Geo pad design overall.

Please add me: takadama3 (should be Aaron Wilbers)

So I prefer rushdown characters that can convert hits into damage (abare is the term i think). Ive played Catwoman in Injustice, Scorpion in MK9, and dabbled in Slayer and HOS in GG (I guess it's worth noting I love Viper's EX ThunderPunch in MvC3 for its anti zoning potential), but Im open to suggestions for GG.

So, I'm guessing that the PS3 default controller is NOT a good pad?
ELC1837 replied to Mugen Tux's topic in Beginner Mode
Oh boy . . . where to begin? First, as strange as it may sound, I recommend any stick with an MK-style button layout. I dunno why, but the X-shape seems to work ergonomically well with only 5-6 buttons (6th being taunt for taunt-cancels). For the stick, I recommend ball-top if you need more precise control (a la DPs), or bat top for fast movement (a la circles). If cost is an issue however, I recommend either the PDP Fightpad or Hori FC3 Pro. Both are really good pads, the only difference is one uses a 8-direction nub and the other uses a cross D-Pad. The PDP will take a lot of getting used to, especially if you're used to sliding your thumb for 2 3 6 instead of rolling it, but it's good for the price. A few more words, then I'm done: you have to get the right amount of wiggle room for the D-Pad. Too tight, and you won't be able to react. Too loose, and you'll do random jumps. -
A belated welcome, SNKE ^_^ EDIT: I also second Slayer, especially if you're used to playing Mileena or Catwoman.

What are Slayer's bad matchups in +R? Which would you recommend a secondary character for?
-
The more you know ... in that case ... better edit my post so it isn't misleading. Btw does FB Dandy into Crosswise Heel combo out of the new 5K?
-
Don't have +R for PS3 and don't have a Vita to use the +R I do have (long story short, reading is tech when it comes to shopping), and I'm very new to Slayer in general, but it seems like 5K being directly special cancelable plus the FRC on bite gives Slayer access to a high-risk high-reward 50/50 throw/hit mixup for 25% Tension after block-confirming or hit-confirming a 5K. Throw: 5K-Bite-FRC-5H-2H P Dandy-CW into air combo Hit: 5K-FB Dandy-CW into air combo

Is there a pad tier list for ps2 pads yet? If not, what can yall tell me bout Nubytech and their fatality controller for ps2?

Time to switch things up: May I please have an avatar with Slayer using his dash to avoid an attack and punishing the opponent with a combo? Doesn't have to be too long or flashy of a combo, just long enough so that the following portion of a poem can be read: Pro abare Can't say I'm sorry When I blow ya up For making one folly

Two things: first, time to update my info here lol Name: ELC (short for EpicLevelCommoner) (Aaron) Location: Independence, KY (closer to OH than than any scene in KY) Contact: wilbersat@gmail.com Main: Slayer, HOS Other games: -MK9: Scorpion, Mileena -IGAU: Batman, Catwoman -Anything else Travel: Depends on work schedule Second, shameless plug for Arcade Legacy's upcoming October tournament: Alpha Attack. https://www.facebook.com/events/138362549704646/ I won't be entering GG myself (I lack the muscle memory to make the most out of what little fundamentals I do have), but I'd figure y'all might be interest yourselves.

Getting Back In: Need Advice on a New Main

@ Slayer: Interesting ... I'm unfamiliar with Slayer's gameplan other than Mappa and Mappa feints: how hard is he to play on a PS3 or PS2 pad? @ Justice: I'll have to try her out, but tbh she seems to be a bit too turtle-based for my liking. Wouldn't mind being wrong though: Meet Again is such a great theme. @ Chipp: I'm fairly well-versed in Chipp in the sense that I'm familiar with Teleport and Invisibility shenanigans. Though I didn't think of him as a punisher tbh ... gonna have to look into him again. @ O-Sol: Hmm ... how does HOS compare to Slayer in terms of playstyle? -
First, shoutout to Kamuimoon for inspiring me to pick up Order Sol in the first place. Without spending time in the lab dedicated to this particular character, I would have never done so for other fighting games, and thus would have never discovered my preferred character archetype. But while I'm grateful for that, I'm considering dropping HOS in favor of a character that fits that preferred archetype. I've been out of the game too long to remember how all of the characters function, and was never that deep in the first place to just play it by ear. So, I'm asking y'all: who would suit me as a main? To give some more information, I main C.Viper in MvC3 (only character I used on all teams), Catwoman in Injustice, and Scorpion in Mortal Kombat 9 (though notable mention goes to Mileena). My preferred spacing seems to be somewhere between half-screen and touching, and I seem to favor a combination of mix-up pressure and punishing an opponent's mistakes in a variety of spacing scenarios.

So I'm messing around in training mode and decide to play as EX Order Sol for the lulz. I played around with EX characters before, so I knew I had to check the command list to see what the special moves are. To my surprise, EX OR had an instant kill command. I input the command and I have to say the animation was pretty unique (read: I couldn't recognize any of the sprites . . . might have been a cross between gunblaze and savage fang). Now, enough of that exposition: I want to know what EX Dizzy's IK is (the command is [2]8426+P+H; and I play on pad so that's going to be tricky to pull off).

RO v RO was awesome And am I reading that correctly? July 23rd, 2010? Or is it an actual countdown? I don't remember anything except how to annotate hiragana from the Japanese class I took.

It turns out that I don't have a ride for tomorrow (ride A has to go to his cousin's wedding, and ride B changed plans at the last second). Anyone here offering lifts from NorKY? If so, shoot me an email. EDIT: Send it to redrain.raven1837 -at- yahoo.com : I can't access my google email.

If I had more experience and the rights to the game, I would get a team together just to make a remake/sequel for this game. I have a few ideas for movesets and playstyles already and just need some help in the development and artistic direction. Anyhow, I love using R.A.X. against my family, but I remember using Slash alot as a kid.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_Champions I just download this for the Wii Virtual Console for my dad yesterday, and it's already bringing back some good memories from when my family still had it for the Genesis. Has anyone else here played this amazing game yet?

lol: I like AC Robo-Ky's personality, but I can't get his playstyle down well enough (probably because I'm used to Ky already). I'll be there, Kamui: I'll also see if I can bring a friend up to play some games as well. Anyhow, I'd figured I'd ask about which character had the best normals while I was still relatively new to playing HOS. Though since it really doesn't matter, I'll just whore out HOS in training mode until I no longer freak out. Thanks for the help: I'll probably go with some of the suggestions here for a sub once I get good with my main.

Hi, EL C here with another question . . . wait, that's not right *watches an oxiclean commercial* . . . I can't get the rhythm down. *ahem* Anyhow, since I keep freaking out and fucking up during specials and combos (against the CPU, mind you), I'm looking to just practice with normals until I can focus/calm down enough to focus. So, which character gets the best mileage out of their normals outside of combos: i.e. pokes, pressure, mixup, etc.

Alright: that makes sense, though I usually equate a good matchup as an autopilot matchup (which doesn't exist).

Is it possible to make a matchup chart based on how defensive or offensive you should be playing? For a scrub like me, that would help a lot more than "good matchup/bad matchup", especially since each matchup plays differently.
