ryofoong Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 I air throw due to laziness and habit of playing Carl xD. I know I could j.C>j.D but I usually get caught in some sort of pressure if the combo's really high and I gotta jump back/teleport and blah. Btw: The Arakune Combo Video: Reload is supposed to be Fumo. I THINK! Don't take my word for it

sinisterwolf19 Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Hey guys, first time poster here!! just wanted to post my vid in the thread so ya'll can have more videos to watch as well as tell me how my video quality is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=du8KSfA5Lo4 BTW- This isnt one of my best matches its just the first i recorded but i'll upload more in the next couple of days... let me know what you guys think
kousaka Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 quality's pretty good, what did you use to capture?
sinisterwolf19 Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 I am currently using a dazzle 101 DVD recorder. Then using virtual dub for capturing and windows media encoder for compression. And thanks edit: here's some more videos I uploaded.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_t9vQ6ngec http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtOr_MH3k80 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SG9VbbKMyXw
Skye Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDYxDngbQQs I has invisible Astralz.
LAMG Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I am currently using a dazzle 101 DVD recorder. Then using virtual dub for capturing and windows media encoder for compression. And thanks edit: here's some more videos I uploaded.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_t9vQ6ngec http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtOr_MH3k80 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SG9VbbKMyXw your video frame is larger that it needs to be, consider cropping it are you capturing at 1280x720? if you are then dont. capture at 720x480 with 16:9 pixel ratio and then resize to 1280x720 here are some examples: with my old videocard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ncZdjAGDMU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0G5xg07XomE with my new(virtualdub made the sound crackle a little) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjJMcFo4W0c
InspectorOda Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Wanted to post this since it's really entertaining to watch Arakune mirrors in my opinion. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8372626 (Fumo vs Dora, Fumo vs Souji) There are a lot more vids from the tourney, but this one should be pretty exciting for people here since everyone on this board seems to love Souji, and Fumo won SBO.
sinisterwolf19 Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Hey LAMG, i am capturing in 720x480, i just think it has something to do with the fact that i'm playing on an hdtv in standard definition and capturing in standard definition that is distorting the video to those proportions. however i like the widescreen black bars along the top and bottom of my videos =D btw -got another match between me and a V-13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTFr5wsdzkE
PhantomX Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 I've never liked Arakune dittos. They're basically campfests.
sinisterwolf19 Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I'm not a big fan of the arakune mirrors either. -also, has arakunes astral ever failed to kill someone when you attempted to do it? well anyway, this isn't particually a full match video but still thought i'd post it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObwrKJXrQTA
Skye Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Rules of Arakune dittos: If you get cursed, you lose. Anyway, I have more videos to show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtlcR99ynVQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0eAJoEFvFY
kousaka Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Rules of Arakune dittos: If you get cursed, you lose. Anyway, I have more videos to show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtlcR99ynVQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0eAJoEFvFY You gotta confirm more hits into combos. All those anti air 5c's go into 3-4k combos at the least. Just jA>jC>jD>CB bug>6c loop. If your not really mid screen then use an air to ground string. On hakumen use j6a>(jc)>jA>jB(3)>jC>jD. Also air to air j6a should be confirmed into something. With no curse you can jump cancel air to ground string or at the least 236C. If you have meter to burn you can RC the 236C into jC>jD for curse. If they're already cursed 236c carry to mid screen into 6c loop. Or 236C loops in corner for recurse. Or mid screen jA>jC>jD>CB bug>6c loop or easier to do just go straight into dive loop. hit confirm 2aaa: If you notice your too far use 2c>(rc)>etc.. don't bother trying to do 5b>5d>214A .
Skye Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Whoa whoa whoa, I'm not pro yet, still practicing, but I appreciate the criticism. I thought I did pretty good....
kousaka Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 You did pretty good. But the real power of arakune is being able to confirm any random hit into huge damage. Everytime you even touch the opponent, they should cringe with pain and want to quit the game =) Keep working on the combos. Once you can confirm into the combos, even if you drop them it'll be okay. Finishing your combos gives you the recurse and keeps momentum but its not as important as dishing out constant damage.
PhantomX Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Hitconfirming all your hits into curse > loops is harder than one would think online (at least for me). I find myself dropping all my abcd > loops on anything other than yellow connection or better... and I've pretty much given up on j2a canceling (hell, even the j2a CH > 5b > abcd is hard to land consistently in delay). It's pretty frustrating sometimes, especially when you're fighting a character with much larger room for error online (aka Jin).
Matt Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 @Skye: Also upon what kousaka said you should stop smashing your way through curse. The curse has the amazing ability to completely lock down both an aerial and grounded opponent. Wasting your curse by bringing bugs out randomly won't help you hit confirm massive combos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0pCTaakSns This vid shows Hima/Souji/Fumo using the A-bug spam to completely lock down aerial advances made by the opponent. For ground use the C/B bug together and if they hit you can go into either a j6A>triple dive loop>C loop>recurse if you're close enough or j6B>j6B>j236C>release C>B bug>C loops>recurse. If the C/B bugs are blocked you can use the hit stun to move in. This strategy takes A LOT of skill to do well, I myself am not even close to mastering this supreme lock down, but I suggest if you want to do better try using this strategy instead of mashing out bugs and moving around erraticly. @PhantomX: j2A>5B is awesome. Don't give up on it. It is the safest and most spammable move I have seen in the entire game.
PhantomX Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I haven't given up on it... just on wifi XD Neither j2a > nothing or j2A > 2B are particularly good D:
Skye Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I don't mash out bugs randomly, I just tend to move naturally and the bugs come out, to better explain, the bugs do not influence my movements, I worry mainly about getting close, then using the Air dash cancel J.B and the B Bug to lock them down until I get a good opportunity. I use the A Bug to stop aerial approaches and I even use it as an unblockable combo after my opponent burst using J.6C > A Bug > Jump Cancel > J.6C > A Bug > J236C, I see that most of what was done was barrier buffering the bugs, which I--simply cannot do using a simple controller, however I'm nowhere near good enough to use Pads (not fluent in arcade), it's worth trying in training, but again, I'm still getting some aspects down--and I don't (deliberately) mash out bugs randomly.
ryofoong Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 So like. For those of you who has youtubed alot, you've probably run into this guy on youtube by the name of AutonomousR who uploads a WHOLE lot of Carl videos for the Carl players. He's basically where all the Carl's learn things from. Well, anyways, I was talking to him and I mentioned how we Arakune's don't have that. So he said he MIGHT start doing it with Arakune, on a separate account... and only for CS. But hey, it's still awesome!
Matt Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8251674 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8251428 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8251395 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8251348 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8251278 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8251239 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8251199 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8251084 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8372626 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8343093 So here are all of the latest Fumo vids I could find. I haven't watched all of them yet, but I must say that from what I've seen so far is that Fumo has quite the in your face, risk taker style (except for when he zones the shit out of Hakumen and Tager players). Sometimes it works out extremely well, other times it fails miserably, but most of the time it ends up absolutely destroying the other opponent . I have to say they are really good examples of how to play Arakune's matchups correctly (these videos will definitely help me suck less). Also, I think I'm going to start adding more Arakune vids to my youtube account. Once I have enough vids that it'll be worth heading over to my account, I'll just post a link to it. Also, sorry if one or two of these vids have already been posted in this thread. Edit: Fumo does an amazing job in all of these videos. I believe that quite a few of these videos are of casual play because he gives the other player a win sometimes instead of just taking it for himself.
Skye Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Matt, you really should post some vids of your Arakune, it may (or may not) be perfect, but we are a community, we should give each other pats on the back, advice, criticism, note-taking and what not. I'm sure, you're a well rounder player and you seem to know the logic behind most things--applying them shouldn't be too hard.
Matt Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Hey Skye, I never said I was good. I even said in my post that I sucked. I'm a scrub, it is just that I have taken the time to try and have a deeper understanding of how Arakune is played. I've spent hours watching the pros and trying to understand what they do and try to emulate their playstyle. I know I'm not very good, but at least I know where I need to improve and I'm trying to get better (unlike some players). Also, I'll post a video of myself... eventually... when I suck less...
CopperDabbit Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 snip Quick word of advice: emulating the pros is fine, nay, even a worthwhile strategy. But it's more important to understand why they're doing what they're doing, rather than just doing it blindly.
