Sunnyday Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 every "general" discussion forum on the internet is like exactly the same and they're all terrible however, i would be all for one if i had trolling immunity Well i have a Forum website (A games workshop discussion forum) with a "general off-topic discussion" section on it that doesn' t go down the drain. They manage to keep it clean of 4chan, memes, and other spam because they enforce way stricter rules than on other forums and have way more admins and data to manage such a section. One of such rules is the "no swearing" rule because the admins there claim that swearing (no matter what kin it is) is a sign of low intellect. A general off-topic talk section on Dustloop is possible and TBH i want it too. But I think that it requires way stricter rules and policy to keep it from going down the drain. It also requires more data just to keep up with all the treads that will be incoming in that section. In short, I don't expect a General off-topic talk section to appear on Dustloop. And even when it comes you still need the admins who really want to browse through a dozen (or more) off-topic treads just to take out the spam,4chan and memes. At this moment, i don't think the admins @ dustloop really want a off-topic section so it is better to look elsewhere for any off-topic talk.
Blade Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Call this a preventive measure...but I've seen something akin to an all-purpose "I'm Drunk Thread", specifically for people who post random nonsense on the forums just cuz they're drunk. I was just thinking about this, and wondered what you thought. *does not drink but finds drunk posts annoying*
AcidHairBall Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 An "Intoxication Thread"? That... could prove interesting and entertaining with posts, but I'm not sure how much of a good idea that would be. Since GD apparently can take up a ton of bandwidth, perhaps clearing the posts might be applicable. Lets say there is a first post with rules for the thread, and then everyone can chat and etc. However, lets say after a week goes by (or whatever alloted time) all the posts besides the first post with the rules are deleted, and the thread starts anew. Just a thought I had.
