CyberneticIliad Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I'd like to learn Carl, actually. I'm still kind of a scrub with whoever I touch, but I've wanted to main Carl since I got BB. That, and I heard Carl mains are pretty chill, so that's a plus ^_^. XBL -- Iliad of Thor -- Troy, MI Any help would be appreciated ^_^. Playing on a 360 controller, can't get a stick till I get a job to replace my old one...
Mikachiru Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 Added CyberneticIliad~. Your XBL tag looks familiar...
Kyle Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 You guys are funny. GG's 4Corners. Now, STOP DOING SCRUB LOOPS! Always do the legit combo. There were probably ~4 of my wins that would have been yours if you'd chosen to NOT DO CHAZ'S Universal. That works on peepz who don't know better, remember. =P Also- I found a good Noel! ChickenFatius. It's Chernell from C-bus. ChickenFat from D-loop.
4Corners Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Lololol Sorry, I do the scrub loop to see who can get outta it. I recall you eating a full-life scrub loop. >_> Buuuuuuut, you're right. I also need to learn the teleport combo vs Carl, and to IB>viva. GGs. I'll put some matches up today or tomorrow, I think. I'm really saaaaaaad. I did a retarded combo to Slayer last night (airgrab, super, fueco, airgrab, super, fueco, airgrab) and didn't get it saved. Boooooooooooo. Thanks for forcing me to approach differently, btw. I've started doing a lot more safe jumps now. :D

4Corners Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Chaz's Universal Loop. ...J.bc+8d (hit), A.D., J.bc+8d(whiff) It's a pretty cool trick for new Carl's to learn, but bad to rely on if your comp isn't retarded. Fortunately for me, one of the people I play IS retarded, and would rather eat 0-death than learn how to properly tech the combo. Whatever, free matches for me.
Mikachiru Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 Chaz's universal loop. ...j.bc+8d (hit), ad, j.bc+8d(whiff) It's a pretty cool trick for new Carls to learn, but bad to rely on if your comp isn't retarded. Is this like Noel's [6C> (whiff grab)>66] loop thing...?
4Corners Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Kinda. You do the 8d early, and it misses, causing them to bounce. Land, turn nirvana off/move her forward, and repeat.
Mikachiru Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 Kinda. You do the 8d early, and it misses, causing them to bounce. Land, turn nirvana off/move her forward, and repeat. ...I should do this.
Angel Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 ...I should do this. I could never figure out exactly what 'early' meant and gave up. Playing online I don't run into many really good players so I do quite well without even using the throw loop. As someone else on here said (forgot who and don't wanna look for it), "the best thing to do in a laggy game is ground loop someone to death".
ZONG_one Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Just AD>8]D[>j.B+C. It doesn't have to be that early.
Angel Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Just AD>8]D[>j.B+C. It doesn't have to be that early. I'll have to try that again sometime. I figured this is what I had to do but I recall not being able to do the 8D between the dash and the grab at all.

I figured this is what I had to do but I recall not being able to do the 8D between the dash and the grab at all. Well, try this. j.B+C>Clap>66[9]>9]D[>j.B+C Might be easier for you to just slide up after the dash.
Angel Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Well, try this. j.B+C>Clap>66[9]>9]D[>j.B+C Might be easier for you to just slide up after the dash. I use 9]D[ when I go for the regular non-whiff loop, I'm just programmed to hit B+C then let go of D. I'll see if I can flip that around.

Angel Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 You have to be versatile. So many different loops to remember.. Yeah, and unfortunately between work and school I only get to play at night when I'm drinking and playing on XBL with my buddies (Haku and Bang). Usually the drinking ruins me but I had the most amazing night playing after like 6 beers once, lol. Anyway, do you play BB at the arcade at all? Have you tried Infinity Arcade in Rowland Heights?

Angel Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 ...9D? Wut? As long as a particular move isn't assigned to the corner (1,3,7, or 9) you can use that to do the move assigned to 2 or 8. Two good examples: When you want to IAD then j.2C quickly, the input would be 96>j.3C Also, when raising the roof, if you want to walk Nirvana toward you while the opponent is falling use 1C. It's good stuff, and essential to good Carl play I think.

Why's it called raise the roof...?
Angel Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Yup. I think the technical term for it is buffering.
Mikachiru Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 Yup. I think the technical term for it is buffering. ...I wish I weren't a noob. Buffering is when you use the same attacks...?
Angel Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Why's it called raise the roof...? Because it looks like Nirvana's dancing I think. ...I wish I weren't a noob. Buffering is when you use the same attacks...? I'll let someone else answer. I wasn't too sure to begin with. I'm new to all this as well.
Angel Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 4D looks like she's dancing... EPIC MIND SCREW!!! And 3D looks like she's pissing me off! I never intentionally do 3D.
Prophet Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Because it looks like Nirvana's dancing I think. I'll let someone else answer. I wasn't too sure to begin with. I'm new to all this as well. I believe buffering is when you have the input for a specific attack ready off of another attack. For example if Tager does an attack (I don't know any of his moves, sorry) and does the 720 motion while that attack is on screen he can use GETB as a follow up if he needs to. Sorry if that's not a good explanation, I can't think of a good way to put it into words right now...
Angel Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Hey Mika, if you haven't already you should learn this: Catch someone in the air and summon Nirvana (you get like 30 mins to do this I think so no rush). Knock them back up with 2C (if you do this too early they can tech), immediately do 236A, then hit them back toward Nirvana with 1C, only while you're waiting for them to fly toward you hold 1D to walk Nirvana toward you. Then, 2C->8D shenanigans... You get mad style points, it's an easy way to get people into the clap loop no matter where Nirvana is, and it'll help you practice the buffering we were talking about.
