HmR.kS Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Oh sorry, my bad Sorry for the wrong information heh
Harem Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 IMO, Eddie and I-No are hard. Especially I-No. I've heard that her combos are very character specific. As for Eddie, i find using his mini Eddie EFFECTIVELY not easy. Testament ain't that easy, true. Go for Potemkin instead. You can Pot Buster out of so many different moves and whoop! massive damage Actually, if you can negative edge, then Eddie becomes a lot easier and you beast all. Testament is low on the learning curve. Nothing really advanced about him. Same with Anji. =/
HmR.kS Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 My question: May I know where I can find more information about footsie, zoning, poking, and all those stuff? Gamefaqs.com or whatever only has Character Guides... If there aren't any, can anyone please tell me more about these stuff? Sorry for the trouble. Thanks! Bump my question. LoL
purify Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 footsie: crouching game. Short short super. Not such a big deal in guilty gear as with capcom games. It's not an important term. Zoning: Keeping a character where you want them, be it in a corner, away from you, whatever the optimum range is. I see this word too much, almost too much like "rape". Poking: Means what it says. You poke with a move that has good range, good "priority" and recovers quickly that will stuff whatever other guy's trying to pull. Just something to throw out there to keep the flow of the game going and to keep him from getting the advantage over you while you try to get him trapped in your web of forrrest and don't ask me what that means.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Footsies are important to a number of characters. Jam uses them a lot, and hell, I poke with low kicks with Axl/Pote a little as well. They aren't near asstupid like 3S where you're main goal in life is to do c.MK > Super... but they are still used.
purify Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 This is true. I footsie with Ky also, but yeah nothing compared to SF.
HmR.kS Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Wow cool lots of information. So can anyone further elaborate footsie? since you guys DID say it's important... and, what are the factors included in the "optimum range" ? Thanks!!!! EDIT: Are there any more such techniques/skills besides those three? Would like to know more and detailed ones.. Know any places where I can find guides to such terms? Thanks!
4r5 Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Really, just play more. Against other good players, of course.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Footsies is really just poking with your feet, for the most part. Optimum range is usually a factor of hit-boxes versus hittable-boxes (where you can be hit). Usually this is as far away as possible where you can still hit the other person. This puts your hittable box as far away as possible (to make you safe from counter attacks or reversal moves) while still keeping an active hit box on the enemy. This is particularly important for Okizemi and poking.
blackstar14 Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Ok so I-no's a no. I really wasn't all that interested in her in the first place, (she only sparked my interest..a lil). I'm still hesitant to learn eddie seeing as he has so many moves and I can neg edge, but playing mostly Capcom fighters,it's not all that inportant. I think I'll go with May. She difficult or what?? I know she has charge moves which seems like a con since this game is so fast paced and moving around so much it would be harder to keep holding d,df,or db. I'll also keep Potemkin in mind. I live in MD so if I like him I'll go over Gwyrgyn Blood's house and learn (he just doesn't know it yet..hehe).
HmR.kS Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Oh I see, thanks for the explanations guys. I just thought that knowing the terms would help me play better and so I can keep track of such things while I'm playing and not doing stuff randomly. Thanks.
HmR.kS Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Was that supposed to mean anything? LoL, but it's cute, that's Mario right? :D
Kairi Posted March 7, 2006 Author Posted March 7, 2006 that's Mario right? :D...no thats link jojioij
HmR.kS Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 ...no thats link jojioij I saw that page. But I have no idea what it means. I saw it, that's why I asked. LoL
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I think it was some joke that Final Showdown made... some sort of a nickname for a technique that Ky can do to pressure/lockdown. I don't think there's anything in particular special about it other than just being a running gag.
hatorri hanzo Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 · Hidden Hidden cant believe you thought that was mario. have you not ever played the original Zelda game? you must be a young'n. i think that characters name is Link i always thought his name was zelda.
purify Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 haha the princess' name is zelda. Like even my mom knows who link and zelda are damn you guys. This stuff is extremely off topic wow. Let me think of a stupid question. ...Why was Ky's CSE changed to a D input in Slash when they could have assigned slow stun edge to P? 236 P/S/H makes more sense to me, also since double that motion is Sacred Edge anyway.
HmR.kS Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 · Hidden Hidden LOL that wasn't Mario... awww.. I tend to link characters which are pixel'ed, short, and fat to Mario. lol And I'm 18. Sorry, what's CSE?
Saiten Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 · Hidden Hidden OMG! This is the best thread eva! Since all my questions are considered stupid, no one will be able to complain here. It's a miracle. Hallelujah!!
HmR.kS Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 · Hidden Hidden Okay, I bet this is a stupid question. Anyway, why are there two different forums on RC.com? Here's some screenshot: http://www.uploadtemple.com/view.php/1141830553.jpg And another: http://www.uploadtemple.com/view.php/1141830692.jpg Someone guide me please, I'm stupid. I have no idea how to get the green-skinned one. I was able to get there because of the Forrest thingie.. lol
