epid Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 If you play Millia, you should...well, you must aim for knockdowns. Lust Shaker allows the opponent to recover, which is bad. That's about it. You can use it as a finisher move if it will kill your foe, but just forget about this move in any other situation.
HmR.kS Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Recovering is hard if you're in the air and you get caught by LustShaker. But the damage from a 10 hit +++ combo lustshaker is big.. o_O
4r5 Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 I have a friend, he totally does not play Guilty Gear. He mostly plays Bemani games. He mashes when he plays, but he is some how able to mash out these crazy combos. Some examples: With Jam, running 6P(1hit)-f.S-c.S-6HS(1hit, RC), j.S>236K>623K>236K With Baikan, running TK.DoSomething(rc), K-D(frc), ad.S-D With Bridget, iad.CallBack, P-P, land, StarShip(frc), 6S, j.S-2S, j.S-2S>StarShip What's up with that? I look at his hands while he's playing, he's truely mashing. Too much IIDX or something. Bemani skill is transferable to fighting games. Recovering is hard if you're in the air and you get caught by LustShaker. But the damage from a 10 hit +++ combo lustshaker is big.. o_O I think the damage from Millia's standard ground to air combo is even bigger, and leads to knockdown and a mixup back in to it.

My friend mashes too and owned me.
4r5 Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 We all still beat him, but it's hilarious that he mashes out these kind of combos. Like, what are we doing here practicing in our training modes? We really should just join our DDR clubs and play some Pop n'
HmR.kS Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Oh, just saw that line, after you edit. Thanks for the explaination :D Now I see. So how should I punish Millia players who uses Lustshaker now and then? Thanks!
4r5 Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Hit them as they are recovering from LustShaker. Or hit them while they are in LustShaker. You can even block and punish. And if they are comboing in to LustShaker, then block low till you see the overhead. And be happy they aren't comboing in to something worser.
HmR.kS Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 While they are recovering from LustShaker? I always get caught in LustShaker while I'm in the air. So that means, I will hit the ground after taking tons of damage.
4r5 Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Perrhaps your problem isn't LustShaker, but your overall game. Maybe you need to work on your footsie, zoning, poking, turtling, presure, and all that jazz. Back when, I use to get beat all the time by my friend, who played Chipp. All he did was running 2P*n into either tick throw or sweep. Then the next time we meet, I perfect him all the time. I didn't learn any new combos or anything. I was just became an overall better player, since we last fought. I knew my ranges better, my execution was tighter, I flowed better. yadda yadda yadda FD block to guard against ground based attacks from the air.
HmR.kS Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Yeah I guess so too... Hmmm, any tips about footsie, zoning poking turtling pressure and all that jazz? This is my first arcade game and my first 2D-Fighting game. (And yeah my joystick-controlling-skills sucks too). :D Thanks in advance.
4r5 Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 It would help to know what character you use, and you should probably take that kind of question to the charactor specific forums
Manta Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Mashers generally get killed by poke and turtle counter agression. THis is because mashers generally don't block unless it's incredibly obvious. Basically, don't rush in or go for mixups, instead poke him until he decides to try and rushdown, it's then a simple case of fending off the string until he mashes a punishable move in which case you give him what-for. Also, mashers are suckers for okizime and general pressuring from a distance, so don't hold back when you get your knockdowns.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Yeah, I was going to say... Okizemi is the easiest way to beat a masher. Knock down, throw a gunflame, basic mixup. Usually I just wait until they do something unsafe and punish for it. Mashers rarely use any sort of decent mixup, you can wait for them to screw up.
HmR.kS Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Ahhh I see. So where can I find more information about footsie, zoning, poking, etc? BTW, I use Baiken. :D Footsie means how you position yourself right? Like how far/near are you with your opponent etc.. Thanks a lot guys!
Fenrir Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 I got a stupid question... What the hell is that chart in the rankings (Seen it in my copy of XX and XX#R) thats just completely filled with 5's? Its always been bugging me. It doesnt change based on my versus records, either.
4r5 Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 matchup chart, based of your vs. 2 player. play alot of vs 2p till it changes. make sure you save.
hatorri hanzo Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 cool thanks for the info. i always wanted to know how to change those character rankings. to bad i have no one to play versus against :annoy:
Teyah Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 To beat people who mindlessly mash, you can probably just: 1) Abuse the hell out of 6P 2) Abuse the hell out of (invincible) uppercuts 3) Generic gatling to knockdown, then hit them as they get up, rinse and repeat Examples... (with Millia) Mid-range: 6P -> 6H. Safe enough if it's blocked, combos on Counter Hit. 6P -> 236236S (super). Same as above. Far range: 6H beats many things, as well as knocks down early jumpers (if your masher likes to jump often). If they know to block low on wakeup, just dust/overhead them and they'll probably get Counter Hit / block the wrong way. Another thing, you cannot hit Millia after blocking Lust Shaker, as it leaves her at the advantage. Now these are by no means decent strats to use against decent players, but should be more than enough to beat your average Solscrub.
Fenrir Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Now that I think about it, I was messing in training mode once with Faust and kept throwing out lots of food, and kept grabbing it all, and eventually it said "DEF MAX" or something above Faust's head (Or something MAX, whatever bonus the food gives you). Stupid question one: What does the food do when you grab it? So anyway, after that MAX thing popped up, Faust started flashing WHITE. I was completely confused. I don't even remember if this is real or not, maybe my eyes were tricking me, but I coulda sworn he was flashing white. Question Two: If its real, what does it mean when you're flashing white? So, yeah.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Food gives you more life. I've never seen the flashing white thing before though.
HmR.kS Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Ahh, thanks Teyah. I have another question here in this thread: http://dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?p=24784#post24784 So whoever have some free time and is willing to help a noob out, can you please visit there and reply? :D Thanks!
Manta Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Picking up food items when you have full health will give the message "Maximum" in the same place you see your Counter hit and Recovery messages. It just means you were already at full heath. The background flashes white for a frame whenever you pick up an item. The only time a character should flash white is on instant block or Dead angle attacks.
Twilight child Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 My first stoopid question.... well yeah i know the tiger knee's work on the groundto air.... but when i played arcade GGX (sadly the only cabinet still working) i used ky and tried to do a ride the lightning on the air (yeah i forgot there was still no aerial ride the lightning...) then upon landing ride the lightning was excecuted. i may no be reading most of the threads so i may have overlooked this.. but is the tiger knee applicable to air to ground?
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 You can buffer moves to execute when you hit the ground while you are in the air.
The DMK Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 I've been meaning to ask this but I always knew it was a stupid question. Then I remembered we have a thread for this. Why is it at times that I see someone do a small jump and FD certain air attacks? Is there a particular reason for this? I do typically find after landing they get a grab in. Maybe it's nothing. Might as well ask though.
