Well, there is a few who qualified for SBO :)

oh you know what I meant.... there's like 2 I know that qualified, Ren (IIRC) and Hiroshi.

still, there's gotta be some more Jin players in japan who will make combo movies..... right?

kogatan also qualified , and he is sporting a very good out of the book jin

that's the first time I've heard that name.... are there any recent videos?

Been trying them out and damn, those are some insane timing. Gotta literally press all the buttons as if you were doing a burst as soon as the first hit of the ice hits.

I asked this before in the simple Q & A thread, but it was never answered. Is full-out oki really the best way to approach Jin? I know that Tetsuo uses this approach with great success (and he's one of the few Jins qualified for SBO), but the last time I saw Ren play, he did not, and he was still pretty successful (can I assume that "Len" is the same as "Ren"? If so, he's another qualifier).

I understand there are certain match-ups where you really want to stay in their face all game long, and off of certain starters, it just makes sense to go for Oki rather than damage because you're not going to get much damage to begin with, but for a guy with a "terrible" mix-up game, I just don't see the appeal in full-out Oki all the time.

Is Ren really just that good? Is Ren's approach not working the reason why Dennou and Buppa abandoned ship? Does anyone have any vids of Kogetan so I can see how the third qualifier plays? Thanks.

it depends on how much damage you're losing. If it's like 500 go for the oki. ice resets are good to if you're going for oki. not much else to say.

Dennou and Buppa abandoned because their were better characters and it fit their style better respectively.

In certain situations mid-screen, oki combos are actually his most damaging option (meterless), however, you don't push them as far across the screen, and isn't the corner where we want them to end up anyway?

In the corner, you lose a lot of damage going into oki, however, this is where you can argue where the oki is most applicable.

I guess that's it's all fine and dandy if you sacrifice anywhere from 300-500 damage, I probably won't sacrifice as much as a 1000 damage for oki. Don't forget that you might also catch someone rolling forward or back for a free combo with 2A, 5B, 2B or 5C. If they keep going for neutral tech then you can use 6D for a primer removal or cross-up(cross-under?) with dashing 2A. You're at a favorable position, I say that the bit of damage being sacrificed is worth it even when Jin's mix-up is lulzy at best.

Then again, I won't always go for oki myself in some matches. Getting my opponent near the corner and keeping them in there is my main priority, oki comes second after that as the chances for punishing rolls off 3C oki near the corner are pretty damn high.
