No meter, No charge:

Ground Gatling Chain, 5H(3), 6H, 6P, 5H(3), 6H, 2D

I'm trying to teach GG to someone who really doesn't know how to play. I'm starting him with the basics. He likes Jam and I'm trying to teach this combo but thing is I can't even do this myself. lol is the 6P a link or do you cancel into it from the 6H?

I was actually going to ask about this myself. So the 6P is a link, what about the 2D?

Also, when a move cancels or gatlings into another move when in the move can you cancel into another move? For example if you look at P in the frame data 3 frames startup, 3 frames active, 4 frames recovery. Which of those frames can you gatling cancel? Also, is this a correct interpretation of throwing out P without canceling it? frames 1-3 startup 4-6 hitbox 7-10 recovery?

2D is also a link.

iirc, General rule is that you can cancel on any frame after the frame that connects. So if P connects on the 5th frame (the second active frame) you can cancel on frames 6 to 10.

yup

Is this a real combo Throw, hj.D, 214K, or a tech trap? If it's a combo, who is it easy and hard to connect on?

Do any of the comboes listed in the OP not register as comboes as far as the in game "combo counter" is concerned?

throw, sj.D>... is character specific, if I remember correctly.

Looking really good so far - I'd only ask that you work on the formatting more by introducing more whitespace, bolding and underlining for sections and each move. Make it look really pro. :)

PS: My Jam is getting better. I'm gonna try practicing the things you mentioned. :D

Could someone please inform me as to how in hell's name I link 6H > 6P?

I tend to get it at random times, sometimes it whiffs. I've noticed that the more I mash it out, the less it woks. And if I try to delay the 6P, sometimes it just doesn't come out altogether..

Timing. It's all timing. Go into training mode and practice till you can do it. You're right about mashing though, it'll almost never work if you just mash 6P, so you have to be precise with it.

One thing you could do is press 6H and hold 4 during the move, then learn when Jam starts walking backwards. That exact moment is when you want to press 6P. 6H > 6P is a link so there's no trick to it, just learn it.

Thanks, I'm actually getting it a lot more than before already. That trick works pretty well for me, just gotta get it into muscle memory.

Getting in really depends on the matchup, I don't think I can give a general advice on that, sadly. You really just have to play the spacing game and stay out of their range, wait for them to fuck up and dash in. If it's a specific matchup I'll try to help more, go ahead and post in the matchup threads.

Oh, well, then how about upgrading the jam guide "6A lol good aa i guess" and making matchup Threads? :)

You'd never guess what we've been discussing in the staff forums.

Good good. So much older game stuff and casual writeups that I sometimes wonder if what I'm reading is still legit at this point in the game.

Looking forward to it!
