I was playing some matches with a friend, I'm Tager, he chose Jin. About halfway through the match, I put out a 2C, seeing him come at me. I don't know what he did, but we double countered. I input 5C to catch him, but I went down. Well, I got back up with no tech or anything and did the 5C and caught him. I went from downed, to up, with no animation or anything. Is this a known glitch, or a rare circumstance?

It's counter mechanics mixed with crumble stuns. It occurs frequently against Jins, in my experience and I absolutely hate it. Even though we trade hits, Jin is still able to recover and continue a CH combo. I've had the same thing happen from Rachel though, which is even more annoying because she leads to a 5k combo. But yeah, it's not a glitch. Don't try to recreate it, because you're trying to match up active frames on an impossible level. It just happens.

Oh I know what he is talking about Kriaser. Its not what you are talking about. If you get knocked on the ground counter hit or not you can press 5C,2C, and etc (whle on ground) and your character will get up and do those moves instantly. If you press 2A while ground your character will do 2A twice. It is not a glitch at all. I found this out months ago and you can recreate it as it is not impossible. Unless of course you never hit the ground to began with from a crumble as Kriaser stated. If it came from a crumble then he is right.

Could this mechanic error also explain why when I got counter hit forked by rachel while I was in the Air, I was suddenly standing in front of her in the super long counterhit fork hitstun? I don't think we traded, but if that's the only way then I guess I'm wrong.

Incredibly similar to what happened... If you were able to move or attack, then yes, it's the same thing.

:psyduck: My bad. If it helps, I haven't been able to do it against anyone else. No, we didn't trade though. It was really weird.

From what I'm reading, you guys are either not getting any sort of wakeup animation at all and go from ground state to standing without animation, or you buffered an input. Holding down an attack button is the same as 5 instances of having pressed the button from what I recall being said, it'd be the same method you'd use for wakeup-reversal inputs between the time you pushed the button and held it and the time you got up with enough neutral frames to attack. That's what it sounds like to me. Of course if you really aren't getting any wakeup animation, then it is a glitch, otherwise normally you'd use A or B for a quick recovery input normally.

That is what happened.

I input 2C, he did j.B or something, double counter. I drop to the ground, but get up instantly and do the 5C to catch him on counter-fall from the 2C hit.

No animation, just got up and 5C'd.

I don't know if this is related, but I recently encountered a "Guard Break Cancel". It was bizarre. I was playing Ragna versus an aggressive Rachel who used Pumpkin, but as they fired pumpkin just as/before I was landing from a jump and as I blocked it, my Guard Broke. But for some reason I wasn't stuck in any Guard Break frames, and was still in control. I'm not sure but I think there's something to do with stuff happening close to the ground that affects recovery times.

It's definitely similar. They're on the same principles, but you merely had your guard broken instead of a double-counter. Both have to do with an event happening, but that event is canceled due to a bizarre circumstance.

It sounds like you entered a crumple state but recovered before you were considered downed.

A little late, but yes. The game I guess couldn't handle what was going on.
