Linear04 Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Title says it all. I used to play #reload a bit, so I got into AC while waiting for BBCS Now from what I'm feeling, AC feels a lot harder than #r, so what are some of the easier characters to play so I can get my execution down and move on up to harder characters? Feel free to lock the thread if I missed something like this after looking here and Guilty Room and The Foundation
Ichipoo Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Ky and Sol are still the easiest characters to use in every GG fighting game IMO.
HolyAarom Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Potemkin You might also want to give this a quick read.
Digital Watches Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Yeah. Included there is why I really think Sol and Ky are bad choices for "Easy characters." Not the WORST choices (I'd call them both "Mid-easy" to "Intermediate" characters, but definitely not "Easy"), but certainly not the best.
Yggjrasil Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 May's pretty easy if you know how to Charge Partition, otherwise I wouldnt really say anyone is "easy" per-say because Sol requires you to FRC Gun Flame, otherwise you'll be punished brutally for throwing it out.. :3
Digital Watches Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Wait, does may do actual legit charge-partitioning, or is it mostly the hitstop-charge trick? (I honestly don't know, so you should tell me)
Robo-Potemkin Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Faust isn't TOO hard to use it just takes practice.
Digital Watches Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I dunno, faust both has the no-damage problem and the zoning problem, not to mention high-level faust using a lot of FDC work, which is an execution barrier AND a mental barrier, if you're a scrub.
Yggjrasil Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Wait, does may do actual legit charge-partitioning, or is it mostly the hitstop-charge trick? (I honestly don't know, so you should tell me) Her Dolphin loop is hitstop charge actually :/ (5S,5HS,Slash Vertical Dolphin) You have about .5 secs to input 2 in the middle of 5HS, Axl is the same right?
Digital Watches Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Eh. Axl charge combos are much easier than Venom stuff, no idea about may. For the most part you can just hold back through your entire combo, except for 6P/3P stuff, lol. I guess I also use 6H-->Rashou, but that's not even a cancel so it's kind of a moot point. The only instance of input buffer abuse (Not charge partitioning per se, but what charge partitioning tricks generally use) is running charge (Running rensen or running rashousen)
Yggjrasil Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Ive actually done running Horizontal Dolphin before on accident because of the opponent jumping over me at the instant I'm about to let go of the charge, and running Vertical Dolphins make funny AAs.
Kyosuke Kagami Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Don't try starting with Venom, Zato (sama~), Millia or Robo Ky. You'll get frustrated. Ky is said to be "lol ez mode" because his moves are similar to your traditional shoto. However, learning to pressure with him (and that heavily involves lotsa Charged Stun Edge FRC) and using his normals isn't really that straight forward. Most of the asshats that use this statement like to abuse Stun Dipper and Greed Sever coz "lol broken moves".
HolyAarom Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I think the reason some people call Sol and Ky easy mode is because their moves are basic or something like that. I'm not sure how to word it, but I see it as new players winning with basically normals and specials with the overdrive thrown in. It might be the mentality that easy to win with = easy to use, at least when against other new players or the CPU. It might also be that Sol/Ky are just easy to use, but hard to use efficiently. Then again, I could be dead wrong with this.
Digital Watches Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I honestly think there's nothing to the idea that Sol and Ky are particularly easy compared to everyone else whatsoever. People think that because they see "LOL MAIN CHARACTER" and think they're automatically basic. Hell, except for the lack of a jab or a real reversal (Which is an adjustment for some people), I'd say my character is easier than them.
Mahouko Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 wouldnt jam be an easy character to start off with? I mean she has some nice basic normal combos that deal some decent damage. Also no hard imputs with her
Digital Watches Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 That and a lot of really universal options. Jam is definitely my top pick for easy to start out with.
qwerty Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 if you play sf4 and you want to transition into gg as smoothly as possible, pick slayer. big bang upper = ex uppercut dead on time = sagat's ultra 2P/5P = sagat tier jabs 2S = sagat forward roundhouse 6K/2D/throw = ryu forward strong/bison slide/ryu's throw 632146P = focus attack i am totally not even kidding.
Yggjrasil Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 my roommate plays Slayer like he's an SFIV character, its rather annoying.
Digital Watches Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 That sucks. He should be playing him like he's a SF3 character. WITH HUGE DAMAGE COMBOS. AND A REALLY FAST SUPER. So I guess like, Chun Li + Makoto.
Linear04 Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 Lol I tried to do Sol's sidewinder loop, and the only starter I can get it off is with RC'd bandit revolver and even then I was only able to get in 2 clean hits found it kind of surprising because I could often do dustloop in #r Ok, I'll be trying Jam next. I certainly didn't expect GG to be THIS hard compared to BB
Digital Watches Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I certainly didn't expect GG to be THIS hard compared to BB lol.
shezmu Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 "Easy" and "Guilty Gear" should never be put in the same sentence. Anywho, I know from experience that new people should stay away from Millia and I-no unless they're willing to go through hell. The crap Millia and I-no players have to go through is just insane. As for characters to try, I know Eddie is hard, but I heard that you play his match-ups similarly. I'm not sure on that though.
Digital Watches Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Aye, it does seem like character matchups vary very little for Eddie. Of course, PLAYER matchups...
kona Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Ky and Pot are easy. Ky I know from experience. Pot I know from the general consensus.
