Could somebody give me a main idea or a quick run through of what happen in EX2?

-Kokonoe meets with Relius

-Relius offers to give Kokonoe a Murakumo Unit in exchange for help in making a Nox.

-Tager is created

-Relius' experiment with a cauldron creates a sphere that could spawn another Black Beast

-It's revealed that contained within each Nox is the Black Beast itself

-Kokonoe uses magic to purify the sphere, and thus Nu-13 is created.

-Nirvana kills Relius

-Some guy named Roy witnessed all of this happen, and if you take into consideration details from Carl's CS story, this would make him the third "Architect of Sin"

That's the most that I remember, so I hope this helps.

Anyways, now for a bit of stuff unrelated to what I just posted that I have discovered via CS2's Arcade Mode that could be useful to incite a little discussion, since this topic is pretty dry otherwise.

-Bang comments that Valkenhayn's outfit is similar to that of those worn in Ikaruga

-The reason Makoto wasn't in Calamity Trigger outside of flashbacks was because Hazama sent her to Ikaruga. There she discovered a bunch of failed Noel copies. Oh, and she also knew that Terumi had the BlazBlue, so props to her for being that smart without being an Observer.

-Makoto also comments on having seen Litchi before in the past upon beating her...

Nothing really of note came up during Platinum's Arcade Mode that wasn't already revealed, so yeah, that's all I got for now.

That means Arakune is the third Architect, seeing as how his real name is Lotte "Roy" Carmine.

Actually, Roy is not Lotte, he's Kokonoe's student, I don't think he was the third architect of Sin as Relius tended to look down on him and Kokonoe only brought him to the smelting of Nu-13 so he could run off with all the information if things went badly (and it did)

Hmmm, I still doubt it, firstly, when you see flashbacks in CS, he's never called Roy but he's called Lotte (when other characters refer to him) and secondly, we can assume Lotte is pretty smart whereas Roy in EX2 was just a lowly assistant that both Relius and Kokonoe looked down on, again I refer to how Relius asked Kokonoe what Roy was doing there in the first place, why would he have to ask that if Roy was the third architect?

I didn't know about the material collection stuff I think it's possible that Roy is just somebody seperate from Lotte, it's up for debate really and I'll just wait to see something that 100% confirms that Roy from EX2 is Lotte.

Plus, nowhere is it confirmed he was the third architect of sin

Nirvana did not kill Relius. This is anime-land, remember? Severe slashes to the abdomen are the equivalent of scratching adamantium.

Either that or Relius had a spare body hidden away somewhere, or he wasn't human at all :P

I thought they were already hinting at Relius not been human or 'enhanced' in some way. Based on certain comments about his looks for his age, making Terumi's 'bodys' and all the murakumo stuff he did.

First time I'v seen his concept art, seems he as a robotic arm.

I wonder if any other part of Relius is robotic, or if it's just his arms. :v: I want to take a guess and say that his mask is perhaps hiding something around his eyes which may be robotic.

Well, I have the PSP version, so I can fairly say that these events occurred:

--Kokonoe goes to a boring meeting...leaves, finds out an investigation team at Ikubikuro (sp?) where the Nirvana was supposed to have been picked up was thrashed. The only survivor becomes Tager.

--Relius stops by wanting to use Kokonoe's magic inheritance to jump-start Ignis (though Nirvana assists). At first she refuses, but when he offers her a Prime Field, she accepts.

--Part of the setup requires exposure to the 11th, 12th, and 13th Prime Fields near the Sheol Gate at the bottom of Sector 7.

--They discover that all Nox Nyctores weapons have a miniature cauldron core (namely a mini Black Beast) which is needed in order to achieve stability...this combined with the "spark" of life (Nine's "Snap" spell) is what essentially completes Ignis once she obtains the core of a Nox. The "core" runs rampant for a while, killing Library Soldiers who tried to stop the process, until Ignis and Nirvana block it from killing Kokonoe. She uses her magic to contain it, then Ignis grabs the core on Relius' command. It is here that Nirvana attacks Relius (probably because he would've had Kokonoe and Roy killed). Relius isn't dead however...he escapes the incident, Kokonoe collapses.

--They learn that the 11th along with the 12th was taken to Ikaruga (11th only being used for stability testing), while the 12th would be the actual procedure, and the 13th was taken to Kagutsuchi.

--Kokonoe recovers in a hospital, Tager is no less for wear, and shortly thereafter they learn of Ikaruga's destruction due to the Satellite (Noel's origins) they go to pick up the 11th Prime Field from the debris.

There is nothing that says Roy is Lotte...Lotte is always referred to as Lotte, never anyone else.

Arakune = Lotte Carmine = Roy. There's absolutely no doubt about it.

The English localization of CS simply uses "Lotte" or "Carmine" whenever the Japanese dialogue calls him Roy.

Specifically, in the flashbacks, Kokonoe calls him Roy in private conversation and then uses his full name, Lotte Carmine, when ordering him to be confined to his room. In the English version, she instead calls him Carmine in the private conversation.

Roy makes a bit more sense as his nickname in Japanese, since Lotte is rendered as Rotto in katakana.

The PSP translation of the extra story just calls him Roy, despite the fact the earlier translation calls him Lotte...so I guess there's a discrepancy in the text there...

English voices don't exactly drop the hint either.

Oh yeah, and there's one thing I was going to point out...

There's a subtlety in the dialogue between Tager and Makoto when they "exchange the password" that I think a lot of people missed. When Makoto is referring to how she doesn't want things to change, she's actually referring to Noel being treated as a Murakumo Unit...since it seems that Makoto made a trip out to Ikaruga prior to this and was made painfully aware of what was going on. So when she says she'll make anyone who touches Noel pay...she's referring more to Hazama.

Ok, thanks for that.

Is it safe to say that Jubei can temporally change to human form?

He's a bakeneko/nekomata afterall I believe, and because of the...x Nine thing...

u mean having sex with Nine? like species difference has ever stopped the japanese before :v:

Joking aside, if you are referring to something in the phase-x novels, disregard this, but i don't believe it was ever even hinted that he can in the game.

No, it was never hinted at all.

But wouldnt that be "common knowledge" by now, just like, even though Valkenhayn sounds/looks like a werewolf, was it ever stated that he was one in fact?

It wasnt stated in game Valk was one but there were alot of subtle hints such as; his wolf 'brooch' and the shape of his teeth. (There were afew others but i cant recall them now)

I dont think Jubei has human form but for some reason I think he has some kind of transformation, like Rei's weretiger or Kliff turning back to his 'bigger' younger self.

We are definately missing some detail, which makes him the 'strongest living creature'

Bump for Continuum Shift Extend. Speculation goes in the speculation thread.

New stuff off the top of my head and from Japanese boards.

- Calamity Trigger's story digest is strictly the canon version of events (true ending timeline).

- Caelica was the previous owner of Nirvana. She and presumably the Six Heroes sealed it away.

- Valkenhayn's a wolf Beastkin.

- Beastkin have extremely long lifespans, which is how Jubei and Valkenhayn are so old.

- Relius got thrown forward to the year 2179 after falling into the Cauldron during his experiment in 2099.

- Bang's nail might be Kushinada's Linchpin. Relius mention's Bang's weapon and says Shuichiro's still a bother.

- The Susano'o Unit has the power to cut time.

- The Tsukuyomi Unit has the power to protect time.

- Relius and Valkenhayn did battle numerous times about 100 years ago.

- Phantom is almost certainly Nine, if there were any questions left.

Relius story mode summary:

It begins with Relius waking up without any memories. He slowly pieces together his memories like arranging books on a shelf, unraveling things gradually and enjoying it. He remembers working with Ayatsuki Shuichiro on an experiment with the Gates of Sheol in the year 2099. Terumi, ghost state, appears and Relius tries to obtain some "context" for the strange situation. Terumi explains that they're now in the year 2179.

Back to the present, 20 years later. Hazama shows up, they talk a bit about sleeping. Relius says he needs to dream in order to reorganize all his data, and says Hazama always looks drowsy. Hazama says it's only because that's how Relius crafted his body. They talk about their preperations for awakening No. 12 (Noel), such as Hazama slaughtering all those Praetorian Guards for their souls. Then they head off.

After they get to Kagutsuchi, Relius takes a detour right away and runs into Tsubaki, examines Izayoi, then gets distracted and leaves for the business district. He finds Tager and Makoto in that museum. Relius recognizes Tager as a man whose entire team he slaughtered not long ago. Kokonoe tells Tager to stand down and teleports Lambda onto the scene. He defeats Lambda with Ignis and thanks Kokonoe for the data.

Hazama calls up Relius and asks him to go into the sewers and investigate Arakune. Relius recognizes him as Lotte Carmine (Roy Carmine). Relius defeats Arakune and Phantom shows up to teleport them away. However, the teleportation is interrupted by an invervention from Rachel. He says she was bold to use the Tsukuyomi Unit, and mentions that the Susano'o Unit cuts time and the Tsukuyomi Unit protects it. She tells him to "leave the stage", they fight, he wins, she teleports away and releases the barrier around them.

However, with the barrier lifted, he realizes that Carl is nearby. Relius asks him what he wants, Carl basically says revenge for Ada, which Relius plays off like she was a willing participant. Relius praises his work on rebuilding Nirvana, and says Carl must have witnessed a certain phenomenon while doing it. Carl attacks with Nirvana and Relius introduces Carl to his mother's new form, Ignis. They fight. Relius wins, but praises Carl for his hatred.

Relius then synchronizes his eyes with Carl's, causing Carl to see Relius's "domain". Everything is black, apart from a single blue light, a dark, inorganic mass, which Relius says is a person's true form. He explains that people are just things, and his goal is to create the perfect human, except that the Master Unit keeps preventing his progress. Carl's then rescued from the darkness by Nirvana. They retreat.

Relius gets a call from Hazama. The smelting process is almost complete, Relius needs to hurry up. He gets to the place and examines Mu with Hazama, saying "so this is what the Master Unit accepted as its eyes?" After Hazama asks him of the quality, Relius praises it, then says they have to hurry to prepare for the Imperator's arrival. Relius leaves Hazama behind and looks at the sky, then says "It's incomplete after all..."

The end.

Alternate ending: He chases Rachel and teleports to her castle, where he attempts to attack her, but she is defended by Valkenhayn. They talk about what twist of fate it is to find each other in the same timeline and have another chance, some 100 years later, to fight again. Relius says it'll be like the good old days. Relius beats him to a pulp and seems disappointed, then tells Valkenhayn to give Clavis his regards in hell. As Relius is about to deal the killing blow...

Hakumen appears, summoned by Rachel. Hakumen says that this will be a more fair fight, but that the odds weren't even. Relius agrees that he will now have a real challenge. He decides to send "her" to fight Rachel, and Phantom appears. Hakumen and Valkenhayn are shocked/appalled to see Phantom. However, Relius has intervened too much, and Phantom teleports him away. Relius realizes he needs to make preparations for the Imperator's arrival, but considers that he was truly longing for victory over Valkenhayn.

So Caelica is the Phase character mentioned in Relius's story mode? Wasn't expecting, but makes a lot of sense in context.

Valk and Relius being old rivals is pretty badass.

Also Relius being ~from the past~ is pretty cool as well.
