Arcade Legacy Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Arcade Legacy RANKING BATTLES Season 3 - SSFIV, T6, GGAC, BB:CS, SNK league +more I’m proud to announce that season 3 of the AL ranbats will start on August 14th and run every three Saturdays after. Yet again a slightly different format for this season. I want to keep tweaking it to make it better for those who attend regularly. The new format will have ALL the ranbat games played on the same day. Instead of a set prize of money at the end of the season, you guys will end up making the prize money grow. How this will work is $2 from every admission will go into the pot of the ranbat game you came to play each week. If you play more than one game, you can split that money between two games (so $1 each game). You can still play in all of the games if you wish, but your prize money can only be distributed between two games. Obviously you will want that to go towards the game or games you feel you have the best chance of placing TOP 5 in. That’s right! TOP 5 will get paid at the end of the season! The pot will be split 50/25/15/5/5. That’s alot more money in your pockets. For example, if SSFIV averages 20 people a week (which is reasonable), the pot will be around $200! In this instance, first place will take home about $100 this season as opposed to the $35 from last. Even a game that only averages 10 a week will take home more than last season so I think this will benefit everyone and hopefully get more of you out each week to compete. There will also be end of the season prizes added on to the money winnings and I will continue to give out prizes each week to the top 3 for each game. WHERE: Arcade Legacy 322 W. Crescentville Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45246 513-874-8766 www.arcadelegacyohio.com Weekly Prizes for each game (except SNK league): 1st – Free ticket to AL (which can also be used as TWO Thursday admission) or $15 gift card to spend in the media store 2nd – $10 gift card to spend in the media store 3rd – TWO free beverages of your choice (can be redeemed at a later date) Season Prizes: see paragraph above SNK League will have prizes at the end of the season. They will be posted once they are decided on or obtained. Most likely SNK, KOF, and NEO GEO related swag Cost: $10 regular arcade admission – Ranbats are FREE to enter Games, Times and Dates: PS3 is the default system for the ranbats (except GGAC). If a 360 is brought to the event, I have no problem with it being used if both players agree to it. Super Street Fighter IV @2pm (PS3) Guilty Gear: Accent Core @2pm (PS2) Tekken 6 @6pm (PS3) BlazBlue: Continuum Shift @6pm (PS3) SNK league @4pm Week 1 Garou: Mark of the Wolves Week 2 Last Blade 2 Week 3 Samurai Showdown 4 Week 4 King of Fighters 98 Week 5 Neo Geo Battle Coliseum I have a bunch of nice PS3 sticks available for anyone to use so if you are a 360 player, don't let not having a stick stop you from coming. I will be needing some gear each ranbat. A post will be made the week of each ranbat requesting what is needed. HALF OFF admission to anyone who supplies a requested setup. No TVs will be needed. The Point System: There are 5 tournaments held for each game over the course of 4 months. First place in each tournament receives 9 points, second place 8 points, and so on until eighth place, which receives 2 points. Players who place lower than eighth receive one point. There will be posts in this thread which will show current point standings. At the end of the 4 month season the player with the highest number of points amassed from the 5 tournaments is the season champion for that game. RULES: SSFIV - Winner can switch Ultra GGAC - Gold, Shadow, and EX Characters are not allowed in tournament play T6 - 3/5 rounds, random stage BB:CS - TBA SNK League - TBA Dates: Subject to change if dates conflict with another event August 14th -- Side tournaments are - SSFIV 2v2 random partner selection (PS3) $2/person and TBA September 4th -- Side tournaments are - Mystery Game Tournament - a few non fighters may be included $3 entry September 25th -- Side tournaments are - STREET FIGHTER III: THIRD STRIKE (arcade) $2 and TBA October 23rd -- Side tournaments are - TBA November 13th -- Side tournaments are - Tatsunoko vs Capcom. $2 entry and TBA We will also run side tournaments with seperate entry fees. I’m open to all suggestions. These would be the times to run the obscure or lesser played games. Kart Fighter anyone?

GZ-Matthias Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 I'll be missing out on the first day this season so I can go to my sister's wedding, but I'm hoping people put in a good showing for both GG and BB this entire season.
Jetm Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Looking forward to the Blazblue ranbats. Good luck to everyone participating.
Kyle Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Will be in Georgia. Sorry guys. Next one I will be there. MMMMMMMmmmmmKart fighter,
GZ-Matthias Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 What?! Kyle can't make it either. Bad timing... Here's my advice to everyone: The secret is, don't get Hotaru'd! Hotaru Haters Club. Good luck hope this helps!
Circuitous Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Should be able to make this, although I won't get much sleep beforehand. Also it looks like I've got some new blood coming along, too. Played some Tekken and Marvel, but never heard of Guilty Gear or BlazBlue. I talked up GG some and he's pretty interested, so hopefully we can get a bunch of casuals going or something. Also, for Mystery Game tournament, I've got a bunch of not-entirely-shitty doujin games you could throw in.
MacArthur Blunts Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Gahhh can anyone spot me the $10 to get in today? I can bring a PS3/BBCS and a PS2/GGAC+ with me...
Circuitous Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Sorry I didn't make it today. Got sent home from work last night thanks to some weird nerve pain that keeps making my leg go limp. It was hitting me off and on all night, didn't get any sleep. Just woke up around 7. I'll try to make the next one. Don't know if the guy I know from work made it out or not.
JackG Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Sorry I didn't make it everyone. Was looking forward to seeing everyone and playing dem vidya games we all love but got hit with some random sickness this weekend and really wasn't up for going. Anyone have results?
doragonkoroshi Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Sorry I didn't make it everyone. Was looking forward to seeing everyone and playing dem vidya games we all love but got hit with some random sickness this weekend and really wasn't up for going. Anyone have results? Jack G! There you are. I been wanting to fight robots for a couple weeks now. Stop ducking me. Paul won GG, Josh the Funky Dawg got second, Eric the Kamui Moon got third, that's about all I know. Eric said about 13 people came out, but that's about all I know. Also apparently Jacob played, which I approve of. 13 people when I know a lot of players that weren't even there makes me feel good. If Kentucky comes up, and I get some of the sleeping Dayton players out sometime, and Cincy comes through, and with Jordyn learning and maybe some others, we can exceed 20 for sure. Oh yeah, and Cbus Matt and if Sean can ever be brought out again. Also, I don't know what happened to Chippy, but for all I know he's still willing to play. There was basically nobody repping cincy at this. I went to see Temple of Doom in Dayton, Mac had no money, Jordyn is trying to learn this game and wanted to play, but he couldn't get a ride until late, Jack sick. Sad times at Ridgemont High. After party at Mac's with Paul and Eric was fun though. Thanks for traveling as always, Eric. Epic warrant and grave digger matches. Sorry, Jesse. I should be able to make the next one, but you never know with me. What was participation and results for mark of the wolves? Did Dandy J win, or is Funk Doc randomly good at that game too?
Kamui Moon Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 i ran brackets. we actually had 18. results were lol worthy, but good shit to Paul and Josh. 1. Paul 2. Funkdoc 3. me 4. Jacob 5. Avi 5. doragonkoroshi Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Holy CRAP! Look at all the names on there. Lots of people who don't even play. Having all games on the same day really does help turnout. I like. Edit: upon looking at the full results for all games, I notice a couple BB fags that I KNOW know how to play GG a little bit. At least more than a few players on the GG list. Eemba, Xerofaith, JetM, man up guys. I'll play your game when I'm around. Grrr.

I've come this far with BB and damn it, I'm going to go the distance one way or another. You can rest assured that I'll be hopping onto the GG train when the next one comes out... someday. <:3
doragonkoroshi Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 You missed my point. Half of those people on the GG list don't even play. They don't. I KNOW you know more than some of those guys that entered the ranbat for that game. I'm not asking you to even practice. All I'm saying is go ahead and enter the ranbat. I still haven't even played CS since it's come out on ps3, but I intend to enter the ranbats when I'm there. It's not costing you anything.

However, I'm a lazy twat with a one track mind. I'll go ahead and scrub up GG a bit at the next ranbats though, if it'll make you happy.
doragonkoroshi Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Not just me. It will make everyone happy. All the time.

doragonkoroshi Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Oct 16 is season's beatings. Are you still going to do it then? I think everybody will be in Columbus.
