catears Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Yeah I get your point, but in CS2 she had great Oki and mix up and all that PLUS the good damage. Of course, we play Blazblue to have fun but this particular thread is a discussion about one character, without this kind of talk there's no point in this thread. Just ignore me anyway - I've played CSE for about an hour in total so far, I'm just sort of shocked at how bad she is initially. I'm sure things will change!
Romeyurhomey Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 >______>.... She's still good. -Staff counterhit is gdlyke -Good mixup/pressure -meter AND meterless oki in corner -Corner carry is good. In CS2 her avg. damage was 3.5-5.5k now its 3-4.5k which is still good Please let me know what your smoking so I can be delirious as well.
Mightfo Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 How is doing "a LOT less damage" not important? Isn't the goal of the game to do damage to your opponent?! I have to rapid cancel if I want to do the same mid-screen combo I liked to do before, the exact same combos I do in the corner do like 1k less damage. Also, thanks Arc for speeding up the general gatlings that really helps fighting online. What the Hell was the point in that anyway? Assholes I do acknowledge that I'm just going through the initial rebalancing shock, but wow she just seems so horrible now compared to CS2. It's the only character in this game I've actually learned anyway so I guess I just have to deal with it haha. keep in mind that the initial rebalance shock was a while ago for most of us when watching footage. she generates ton of meter still, and most characters got large damage nerfs in certain ways. character strength is always relative, and it is not like her neutral is worse, it is actually better in ways, her pressure is still strong as hell, etc. corner damage is fine. Do i think she should have some more damage? Sure. Additionally, I reacted similarly to you at first. You'll get over it, don't worry. Faster gatlings arent a problem if you've played games that have less hitstop, and it does mean that people have less time to react to certain things.
Fugu Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I am personally surprised at how quickly I got used to doing less damage in the corner. The change to the staff projectile has far outweighed losing ~500 or so off of most confirms in the corner.

PS: I really do not like how much more difficult things are - I honestly don't understand the rewards I'm getting for all this work. Bey hey, I'm sticking to it, even if she ends up tager tier in 3 months. That being said, re-learning her has been a real frigging crawl, especially with no one to play. Printed out that list the other day and looked at it. Guesstimation on paper gives her average damage at 3700 - Throw out half the combos you'd rather not do and it's above 4000. That should be the goal. At least 4000 every time. If you're spending meter to get it, at least do one of the 50+ meter combos. Edited February 22, 2012 by Star-Demon
Lord Knight Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 I really, really hate the lower damage. Star demon, launching the stick with D has a bit of recovery (unlike CS1/2, where you recover instantly), but the blockstun/hitstun is the most out of any version of Litchi so far. On air CH, the enemy can't tech until they touch the ground (but it's always been like that). Also, a more accurate damage reduction estimation is that all the optimal combos damage has gone down by approximately 500-700 damage.... the higher end stuff (6B, 6D, 3C, 5C) has gone down by around 700, the lower end stuff has gone down by around 500.
Star-Demon Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Ah - okay. So staff launch has more recovery - I'll have to stomp out the badly spaced staff launches I do sometimes. I've been doing bad kotes, more recently.
TD Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 so this is what l came up with in training mode, just having fun. its not the most optimal combo but its stylish (and thats what really matters... :3 ) so without further adieu 6d loop! (corner) throw 6d[m] d(slight delay) 6a 6b(hold) staff2 dash 6d[m] d (slight delay) chun staff2 dash 6d[m] 3c 2d 6c(2) staff2 6d[m] 3c- does around 2700, 40 something heat gain. fun as hell to do. its suboptimal but its going to be my new throw bnb
shtkn Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 so is anyone going to make a beginner guide for her on the wiki? i made a skeleton for someone to fill it out http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Litchi_Faye_Ling_(BBCSE)
Star-Demon Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 No such thing. Be great or don't play. Trust me, you're only hurting yourself. PS: BHDC
E3vE3 WAZ HEA Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 so is anyone going to make a beginner guide for her on the wiki? i made a skeleton for someone to fill it out http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Litchi_Faye_Ling_(BBCSE) i said i think i know enough about her to do it but the person who said okay neva wrote me back when i gave him my e-mail so he could send me it. @TD you can extend that with a CH 6b in the corner at the start insted of a throw, but i guess that works as well more damage plus more meter)
E3vE3 WAZ HEA Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 heres a combo, CH 3C[M] (set staff 5D) mini dash 5C heald D hatsu slight delay chun (staff 2) 2C[M] 4D dash j.b dj.b jc, D falling j.c (staff 2) 6C(1) tsubain
deadsnake Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 when do u use chun or 6a after the slight hold of 5d]m[? is it the same for both 5d and 2d staff setup?
Romeyurhomey Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 heres a combo, CH 3C[M] (set staff 5D) mini dash 5C heald D hatsu slight delay chun (staff 2) 2C[M] 4D dash j.b dj.b jc, D falling j.c (staff 2) 6C(1) tsubain Is that near corner or midscreen? and yes deadsnake you want to hold D a pinch then use chun or 6a.
deadsnake Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 no, what I meant was, depending on the staff set (5d or 2d) when is it necessary to use chun or 6a after the slight d hold? or is it the same?
E3vE3 WAZ HEA Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 no, what I meant was, depending on the staff set (5d or 2d) when is it necessary to use chun or 6a after the slight d hold? or is it the same? its the same, you hold it for the same ammount of time for both 5D and 2D set, now the move you use after words will determine what combo u get(5D and 2D can use chun after words, 6A is best used with 5D set)
deadsnake Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 i c, thx somehow chun is just a lot easier with 5d set and 6a is....still can't do it yet... :v 6a>6,6d /headshot... but after todays casual, litchi felt much more fun than BBCS2
E3vE3 WAZ HEA Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Is that near corner or midscreen? and yes deadsnake you want to hold D a pinch then use chun or 6a. its mid screen to corner if done correctly when doing the j. b dj.b jc d, the staff will hit however i found that it is possible to be too far and the staff will miss so be careful
Star-Demon Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 (edited) NO LITCHIS IN AMERICA WERE GOOD LAST NIGHT. WE ALL CHOKED. Yo I don't know how to play this char anymore. I'm gonna go to some mountain and meditate. When I come back, I wanna say "LIMITERS RELEASED" and IT ACTUALLY HAPPENS. Edited February 26, 2012 by Star-Demon
Romeyurhomey Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Nobody choked, everyone played really well. If you don't like Litchi or this game, go play a scrub game like Street Fighter.

E3vE3 WAZ HEA Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 FC 6a[m] 5b[m] 6b[m] 6c[m] iad j.b[m](land) 5b[m] 2c[m] 6d hatsu reachii a ippatsu a tanki hatsu 5b 6c(1) 4kote j.b dj.b j.c d falling j.c (staff 2) 6c(1) tsubaine this would be nice to see in a real match but getting a FC 6a[m] seems really unlikely unless your going against a REALLY mashy person
Star-Demon Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 This weekend - I noticed that, when a DID land a hit, that I spend a lot of time looking to see if I have the space to do anything on Hit. Usually not. Not sure what to do once you see something isn't going to work from a distance.
Star-Demon Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Holding a Hate Clinic on Litchi today. Coaching and help welcome. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=195&day=2012-2-28
