Mightfo Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 Looks like i'll have enough money to get a ps3 and still be set for spring. Woo! Any comments on which model/gb/where to buy? If not, ill just got a 120gb on amazon, i suppose. It seems there's a new 160gb out too, though..both 120gb and 160gb are $300..will the former get a price drop? Where would be the best place to buy it? Also, was sort of considering getting an older ps3...awfully big, but due to the power brick being separate, it wouldnt have as much of a heat issue as the slims, and the compatibility would be nice..any ideas where the best place to try and get that would be? Any disadvantages besides size? While I have no worries about the quality of used games usually, buying a used console seems iffy.. Also, I'll actually be able to host saturday despite thanksgiving. Who's up for that?
Mightfo Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 there will never be a bb where litchi isn't s-tier, so that already rules out any credibility =p ilu dustloop

Who's up for that? I would avoid Backward compatible PS3s. They have a frame or two of lag and even used ones cost a ton. I'd suggest getting the old model with a small HD and then buying a new, larger HD to put in. It's not that expensive and you get MORE space. It's also easy to install. Just need a screwdriver.

Who's up for that? I don't know anything about the lag RaveSage mentioned but, just so you know TEs don't work with PS2 games. I don't know how well other arcade sticks function with them. Also, when you get a Triple let me know. I can let you borrow MGS4 and you can truly join the Trey Brotherhood.

While the 1-2 frames of lag wouldnt matter for most ps2 games i'd want to play(mostly non-fightan), and Horis have a lot of compatibility where TEs don't, I think I'll just get slim. More space that way, anyway. Should I just get a 160gb or will the 120gbs start being like $250 or less soon? Will I use that much space because of the "you have to install every game"(am i mistaken about this?) thing or what? Edited November 22, 2010 by Mightfo

Most games use a small amount of HDD space but I have a 40gb and haven't had any problems. You won't use all that space unless A) You decide to install every game for faster loading. B) You put a lot of pics and vids (read: porn) on it. C) You end up playing a fuckton of games on it and legitimately use all that space.

TransientFaith Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 GOOD NEWS: Looks like Arcana Heart 3 will get a European port at least. http://www.mcvuk.com/retail-biz/release-dates Q2 2010 according to this, published by PQube. can i get me some french dubbed fighter girl action
Mightfo Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 can i get me some french dubbed fighter girl action afkawjawfwf i want a german voiced Clarice ALSO yet another fightan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmt09SloUY0&feature=player_embedded#! Based off that Umineko thing! -PC -Release date is January 11th Hype stuff: -Graphics are nice -Interesting system: - The life bar is shared by both characters on the team, as it doesn't change with characters. - Break Limit gauge is your usual guard gauge, it fills when you block moves and you get a guard break when it's full. - The gauge that you fill while dealing damage, blocking moves etc. is your second character's SP gauge, so if you want to actually use the gauge that you filled, you must switch characters. - You may switch characters by spending one stock of your second character's SP gauge. After that, your Assist gauge drops to zero, and you must wait for it to fill to change characters again. - You may burst by spending two stocks of your second character's SP gauge. - The gauge below the timer is indeed the Meta-Field gauge, which is filled with time. You may enter the Meta-Field if your side of the gauge is full by spending 1 stock of your first character's SP gauge (there are probably some other conditions I can't see right now). The most obvious effect of entering Meta-Field is gaining abilities of both of your characters. The gauge is drained while in Meta-Field, and you exit it when it drops to zero. The way you gain meter is interesting, since it sort of encourages a "point character, meter character" setup like KOF. Plus, the meter is the center of why you'd want to switch, since health is shared. Also, interestingly, burst uses your ally's meter, not your point character's. So if you switch and get hit before you can build any meter for the first character you brought out, no burst will be available even if you have meter for EX moves/supers! -Looks like it has gatlings -Looks like guard break is pretty quick, will happen quite a bit -Looks like there's special cancels -No airdashes. While I usually want airdashes, having something with gatlings etc but no airdashes is nice to have every now and then, and helps the ground game -SRK hates it because they're morons Unhype stuff IMO: -argh too much superfreeze in this trailer, though it is a trailer. The movelists on the site indicate that there's like 3 EX moves(or i guess just supers that you will use often, sort of arcana esque) which means superflash might be kind of annoying though, aside from trailerness. I'm interested in playing pretty much everyone I've seen who isn't the main guy(Battler) and the blonde in the large dress(beatrice iirc). Fairly hype even if i'm not very familiar with Umineko. Hopefully this will end up good. Looks interesting.
RaveSage Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Based off that Umineko thing! -PC -Release date is January 11th Finally a game I can practice and enjoy that's not MBAC! The system sounds pretty complex but I'll probably get used to it. Looks like there are robots too. Time to DL this sucker and pull an all-nighter watching it.
Mightfo Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 : Time to DL this sucker and pull an all-nighter watching it. did i miss something edit: holy shit the umineko fighter is already sold out on amiami. i bet that even if the first game ends up being bad, they'll have the money to improve it game by game, much like melty, haha.
Mightfo Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 Yes. oh no i didnt i just assumed you meant the fighting game and not the former umineko stuff because i didnt think that made sense but i guess it kind of does.. i was like WAIT WHAT IS A VERSION ALREADY LEAKED

Also, I put up a little note to a localization company about this game. Hopefully they'll notice it and some magic will happen.
Dannihaag Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) Finished Tsukihime just now. That show made me sad. And that is relevant because.....?!?!?! Frigid is going to try and get a copy of MBAA running on his PC tonight. Could this mean Melty at future meet-ups? Sorry, I shouldn't type when I haven't slept in a little over a day. Really well balanced game with mirror matches that aren't really mirror matches.

Frigid is going to try and get a copy of MMAA running on his PC tonight. Could this mean Melty at future meet-ups? I assume you mean MBAA, not MMAA? I've been able to run MBAA on my pc but i feel like controllers are always a bit wonky when being used on the PC and that setting up joy2key for different sticks coudl get annoying. Melty does own, though. EDIT: NEED A GOOD STICK? http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-Real-Arcade-Fighting-Stick-3/dp/B001GDQRZM/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1290528592&sr=1-1 The hori real arcade pro 3 for ps3 is $60 now. That's the stick I have, its' quite good. Moddable, nice Sanwa stick, buttons aren't the best but they're decent, works with that $20-$30 PS3->360 converter I have. Mightfo Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 Unless something goes wrong, I'll be hosting a meetup saturday. i texted a bunch of people. Confirmed: Zreb Johnny, unless it's freezing or something Nope: Supaa
RaveSage Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Probably not coming unless I get a ton of work done these next few days and even then it's up in the air... Also, when I first saw HARP3s on Amazon for that price I thought they were staying that low forever. :8/: Well, maybe I'll pick one up next year or something.
Mightfo Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 (edited) asdfsdfjkldf MY BRAIN IS SHITTING REGARDING UMINEKO: When you enter the Meta World (of your own will, not the opponent's), you gain the benefits of both of your characters' Special Ability. Also, when you use a regular Touch (switch) as opposed to an Attack Touch (offensive switch) or Damage Touch (burst, defensive switch), the character you tag in gains the benefit of the Special Ability of the character you tagged out. example special ability of the character: beatrice's is "infinite sp" this is in addition to regular tagging simply switching meter that would normally be consumed by tagging this sounds like a great team system. attack tagging looks great for pressure and combos, too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWBsxJP3Nvo#t=0m16s yup, liking how fast guard crush happens Edited November 24, 2010 by Mightfo
jetblaksuit Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Probably not coming Saturday unless bus money falls out of the sky and even then I'll probably just buy food with that 4 bucks.
