I'm not talking about Marvel 2. I'm talking about Marvel 3. I've seen a bunch of videos recently that have gotten me fairly hype to mess with the game, where dudes in training mode show some things off. A few instances had them showing instant overheads with say, Storm, where it looks like you do an air attack extremely close to the ground, definitely instant, and then quickly go down and do 2 lows into a combo. Hit confirmable, leads fine into pressure, instant.

I'm not inherently opposed to that because I refrain from making judgment calls on how games are set up, and advance guard being pretty strong(but not against certain gatlings..?) kind of justifies it, along with a 100% combo basically being 30% in a way, but I'm just saying that's possibly too wild for me to play it really competitively.

I'm way hype for fucking around with it though. Want dem 8-way airdashes.

Sick. (IMO)You should get the Collectors Edition since it comes with ALOT of other things that are price over the $10 dollars extra you would have to pay rather than gettting the Standard Edition.

for the instant Overhead things i think he was talking about setting up unblockables via a low assist timed at the same time as an instant air dash overhead, or overhead assist with a perfectly timed low. etc. etc. It looks fairly simple but chances are people are gonna find even crazier shit to use XD

also the first couple of weeks of mvc3 for me is gonna be finding out which of dantes specials are the most annoying vs every character(Basically seeing which one annoys storm, then magneto, then wekser, and so on.)

But you asked about Marvel 3. Why would I talk about marvel 2...I even said "rent it at launch."

And yeah, I realize marvel 2 is execution heavy.

Also, there's a difference to me between the notion of fighting games being about guessing right and literally a 50/50 block situation all the time (edit: with certain characters. im bald). The latter is less about prediction and spacing and seeing likelihood and is just..complete guess. If hakumen does muugen and does jump cancel cancel blockstrings, you CAN block it if you focus and have decent reaction time. It's not a completely raw, under 15 frames 50/50 situation over and over. Forcing guesses in some instances is fine to me, but a game where all mixup is just complete guesses is not my style.

While it's true unblockables will be easier, I was mostly talking about how defending in Marvel 3 will be extremely hard and more of a raw guessing game than mixup in BB/AH3. I like having good mixup and instances of insane, pure guessing mixup, but not where I get a 50-50 or better guessing game every single time(edit: with certain characters. im bald.) without effort. But maybe i'll change my mind and get into the game. *shrugs* It seems like the opposite of SF4 in terms of the difficulty of defense and offense.

and as cautious as i am about it, i still want dem 8-way airdashes

All im trying to play now is AH3-SSF4-BB-MVC3-VS-JJBA-GG-3S-and KoF13. Not all on a serious level but still there pretty fun to play. I would be interested to see what games you are talking about though.

Yeah, i'm sorry, shouldn't have said shit like "all the mixup is complete guesses," not every character can do instant overheads easily or whatever. That was my mistake, I should have read what I was actually writing.

I'm not hating on it or anything, I'm just explaining why I personally don't feel like I'll take it competitively. Feel free to play it at meetups and yell and shit. I'll probably watch and yell too sometimes. I came pretty damn close to buying the game two or three days ago.

I watched most of that clockwork vs neo moneymatch. That was hype shit. I fucking want to play sentinel.

Many of the people saying shit like this used to post snide troll comments all the time. my favorite was the guy who was acting like the game wasn't anywhere close to as complex as he had heard when he had sat there and watched it for like 2 fucking minutes
