Hmmmmm it's useful. I dont think its as good in ultimax as it is in BB. Tbh its not all that different from the throw backdash guard OS people were doing before. All you really can do is stagger and trap em on the anti chicken guard. The throw tech makes it annoying to deal with but alot of characters can get really good AA conversions on people jumping out. Def strong tho it just does have weaknesses.

Alright, so at today's meet-up, saw a lot of folks with issues distinguishing the two Sho characters (and seriously why wouldn't there be) so even though it would be smart of me to leave you guys in the dark, let me just clear some shit up.

  • Sho's 236 Rekka = Minazuki's 214 Rekka.   Both are jump cancelable on the second part, but Sho can teleport cancel back to the ground (if he's close enough, his D teleport will put him behind the other player)
  • Sho gets a second Rekka from 214 (it's basically just a shortened version of the other with two parts instead of three. Can also be jump/teleport canceled)
  • Both Sho and Minazuki get Combat Knife; for Minazuki it's 236 A or B, while for Sho it's a charge.
  • The only super that Sho and Minazuki share is their Reversal, Two Hit, Cross-up, Splash Damage, "Get bodied if it's raw" Awakening Super. The only difference between them is that Sho's is (supposedly) air unblockable. Don't ask me how to punish this, nobody really knows yet.
  • Sho only has one other super besides the aforementioned Awakening Super (the dashing one where he beats the crap out of you and he recovers ridiculously fast), whereas Minazuki has two others (the red X blast and a parry super that nobody uses anyway)

I think that's what most people were confused about today. If I missed something, let me know.

What Chris wanted to know about Sho specifically was the difference between their rekka specials.

Minazuki (The guy with the persona):

-3 parts: Forward Slash > Rising Slash > Falling Slash (214A/B>4A/B>4A/B)

-Has to start with Forward Slash

Sho:

-Also a 3-part "rekka"

-Can start at any part (Rising Slash > Falling Slash, or use Falling Slash by itself to end air combos)

The other differences come from being able to cancel their rekkas with specials/DP/supers. The only thing Minazuki uses that for is the DP>Super extension and for dumbass resets with the teleport slash. Sho uses it to cancel his rekkas into his command dashes (ground version goes forward, and the air version goes down-forward), which have hella recovery unless he uses the SB versions or cancels their recovery into the rekka specials. I'm pretty sure he can only use the dash once per string, though, so he can't slash>dash>slash>dash x N. Nevermind, he can.

Didn't see this before:

Saturday is Jet's birthday/gunpla/movie party, but the people who are passing on that might have a meetup. Otherwise, there's a Friday meetup for games.

hey guys, just wanted to give a heads up about our next Fight Club out here in East Texas in a few weeks on November 1st. We'll have BBCP and UNIEL as tourney games, along with some casual setups for +R and P4U2.

I also need to get some training in on BBCP since I'm planning on entering it @ Absolute Battle.

Here's that set I was talking about, Chris:http://youtu.be/jOKmpvV4Tjo

The setup that Ryan mentioned is at 47:02. He doesn't finish the combo, though.

Much obliged. For the record, the damage after the throw RC with the max sukukaja extension (tentarafoo, 214214C, 5AAAA, B crescent x 2, D V slash, B crescent, D shooting star) is 3697 plus like a thousand for the throw and poison damage. It's good, but it's not 6.5k.

The reason why I feel like the meter is better spent on SB moonsault is because it gives you an easy confirm off j. AB that gets like 2500, a knockdown, and is plus on block while contesting a potential 2B anti-air. The only other way to confirm off it is C V slash which is unsafe, and leaves you with really low damage follow ups (in the 1200-1500 damage range). A dash spring into SB moonsault does about a thousand more damage on average compared to the B dash spring BNB.

The C sukukaja combos are all free to burst as well, and the fact that you have to spend all your meter early doesn't help in that regard.

I will concede that it does seem worth it as Yosuke in the Narukami match-up to stockpile meter in many cases; the number two priority after just winning should really be to keep them from reaching awakening, otherwise the risk reward on almost everything just becomes unmanageable solely due to the damage differential.

Also ggs. It's a shame we don't get to play more often. I think I must follow my heart and play Naoto.

Be back in December, I'll attempt to visit other active scenes and post here when I plan to visit. The more I think about it, TX. is freaking huge and the scene is greatly divided instead of all in one area.

Great times at AB!! Shoutouts and GGs to everyone I played in tournament and casuals, I was giving my all in every match :toot:
Congrats to everyone who went on to top 8! It was great meeting a bunch of new people as well. I was noticed by many senpais and feel very honored ;w; I will still be playing Persona of course (y'all should too!!) but I can't wait for Xrd to come out so I can play Elphelt and sign up for tournaments as xX360NoSc0pE420Xx.

PS: There's a guy in the DFW Anime group on Facebook who posted about wanting to have games at his shop on weekends, with streaming equipment and everything. The return of ranbats??? If this sounds cool to you, please check it out and show your interest: http://www.facebook.com/groups/732851360064017/ (the group is private now, so if you're not in it already you may need to wait to be added)

It was fun for my first major! I fell flat on my face and lost immediately but I got to see everyone else play so it's not all bad. Betadood's matches against Sunfish were great, same with his match against Danke. I got to see Chickzama again and met some new people, Sunfish used my stick in grand finals :kitty: , Tomato's rising through the persona ranks really fast, AMB bakery lived up to his name with emergency anime cookies, and Harakiri "hentai all night" made it to the streammm

I hope we get the ranbats going again! Just in time for Xrd too
