4r5 Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 For fun. Not for srsly. I play Low-Tier Queen Mamiya. I can't wait for a PS2 release.
BagLunch Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Quick question for those of you who have played the game: After reading that Toki is super queer and lots of characters have balancing issues, Aside from the undisputed fact that Toki is #1, the tiers for this game have been in such a state of flux since the game's release that I'm not certain how the game is unbalanced among all those who's names aren't Toki. Raoh, Ken, Heart, Yuda, Souther and Shin have all moved up and down the tier list, and even Mamiya and Jagi don't suck nearly as much as their bottom rank would make you think. Rei's star is falling, too. It is not out for PS2, btw, and no date has been announced for it.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 There's lots of movement in the tiers because new retarded shit comes out for characters all the time. Heart was bottom for a while, but now that he's got reliable 100%'s on the whole cast starting from B... he'll be moving up for sure. The only real certainty is that Toki stays top and Mamiya/Jagi will most likely stay bottom. Play the game because it's fun as hell, not because it is or isn't balanced.
tianyuan2k4 Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Seeing Shin droping from semi god status when the game just came out to tier C and Mr.Heart rising from the bottom to tier B, I have nothing to say. Who cares about the tiers anyway. Otherwise, you wont see Msin Roah or Nax Mamiya.
Mr. Mamation Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 everyone has a good chance of winning, its not like you see Rei vs Jagi and your like, oh Rei is definatly going to win. (Toki is the only exception of course, and should be banned until a new version of Hokuto No Ken is made with Toki being less broken)
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 I personally agree about a Toki-free environment just because if you don't, there's just too much Toki going around and too many tier whores playing. Of course I play strickly for shits in this game so mostly it's about the game being more fun without Toki, and you tend to get all walks of characters when people just pick whoever they want.
BagLunch Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Yeah. Game is way too fun to be worried about tiers and junk. If two Yuda's hit each other with their FKO projectiles, what should be their plan of attack since neither can block for a while?
Mr. Mamation Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 each projectile will probubly cancel eachother out.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Yeah, I'm pretty sure the FKO won't even go off in that case, unless somehow they manage to hit each other... then fuck I have no idea what happens, maybe the game goes crazy and it's a horrible Yuda dance party or something. :| Also, controlling the FKO makes that shit really, really dumb. Now even if you eat the projectile from a mile away, you still can't do anything about it!
Mr. Mamation Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 well, for those who have a projectile, they should be able to hit them from affar. But other than that your pretty much screwed.
Duelist Sage Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Odd thing happened to me while playing today. I was playing single player as toki, and I activate the fatal K.O against heart. I messed up the timing so I now I didn't catch him OTG. Instead the moves catches him as he is standing up.
nohoho Posted July 9, 2006 Author Posted July 9, 2006 New Movies ttp://page.freett.com/kuuronn/ 20060701-1.wmv etc. G.X vs Radio Wave and Tante vs. Radio Wave Raoh fest. Links are flakey. ttp://www.filebank.co.jp/guest/kurenaibuta/ folder: douga, pass: hokuto Nax vs. DK series Nax Mamiya <- LTNS!
4r5 Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Instead the moves catches him as he is standing up. So the computer decided not to block?
Duelist Sage Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 I don't think that was the case, cause it happened right during the beginning of the recovery animation, but I guess that could be a possibility.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Toki's IK isn't unblockable so he just didn't block. That is unless it hit OTG, but then the combo meter wouldn't have reset (if it did).
LiteSabre Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 If you have a move with invincibility, you can hit Juda with it as you're getting up.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 I've tried Ken's C DP and it just got IKed. New Movies ttp://www.filebank.co.jp/guest/kurenaibuta/ folder: douga, pass: hokuto Nax vs. DK series Nax Mamiya <- LTNS! Anyone notice that in video dk_vs_nax06 ... Mamiya knocks off two stars by using her CD attack by using it twice in one combo? It's at the end of Round 4. Is there something weird going on there or maybe she's doing something else that I'm missing?
LiteSabre Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 The second CD was a fully charged banishing, which is classified as a different sort of attack from a normal banishing. So it would take off a star.
nohoho Posted July 12, 2006 Author Posted July 12, 2006 More movies at kuuron. 20060705-1.wmv etc. Waneseza Ken, Kuro Rei, Rose Shin, Msin, GX, DK (character choices are guesses - I haven't dl'ed all of them yet) BRUNO you still around? please give me a video about this technique. Heh, I looked for this but I couldn't find it. Could be I trashed the movie file or maybe I imagined the whole thing. I think the technique itself is easy to do. You can actually test it out with any super (at any distance) just hold a button down during super freeze to see how it works. Re: Tiers Raoh -- specifically Msin Raoh -- is actually the winningest character since SBO. Dude has won (or placed 2nd behind Kenshiro) almost every tourney he's entered. Singles and team. He beat Kurenai @ a-cho and @ VIP. Constructing tiers with real world players in mind is more of a long-term approach (IE: kokujin propping dudley up in 2nd tier in 3S, t2ya temporarily boosting zabel to #1 in VS, etc.) but whatever... Msin is hot shit...
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Having a viable 100% and an infinite will do that for you. Honestly I would be surprized if Heart and Ken weren't high tier as they both have fairly viable 100%'s too. Seems to me that even though Toki will always have the best rushdown, now a few other characters can match or beat him in terms of damage output. Ken knocks off 60-70% of your life for 1 boost stock off any random hit these days... Heart... kills you if he has 1 Aura.
nohoho Posted July 12, 2006 Author Posted July 12, 2006 Heart can start some nasty stuff from a guard cancel, too. He has to build meter by getting beat up, though. ^_^ More movies: game41 ttp://game41.web.infoseek.co.jp/movieroom.htm Tourney vids. stage4 ttp://www.filebank.co.jp/guest/stage4/hokuto050504 pass: hokuto Taji Juda vs. Tetsu Rei series YouTube ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfq4E8Pie98 Dig it, Gwyrgyn. Koozebanian Fazoob Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Haha that's gold. By any chance can Mamiya boost her roll to make it roll really far?
nohoho Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 No clue. Heh. Videos from the June 25th Ibaraki VIP tourneys. tianyuan2k4 Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Have you bought newest Arcadia yet, Nohoho? I am going to grab Arcadia #75 this saturday and head to Kongman around 12:30. If nothing goes wrong, I will enter Otakon next month because they got two Hnk setups! We should talk about it no matter you decide to go or not. (I am going to record as much video as possible over there!) Meet me over Kongman if you have time.
nohoho Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 The new issue doesn't have any Fist strategy. Kind of a bummer. There is a post-SBO edition of Tougeki Spirits on the way which should have not only more SBO scoop but also a DVD with a handful of matches on it (!!) -- I don't know if Asahiya Bookstore normally carries those. I'm not sure if I can make it on Saturday but yeah let's get together this week sometime. I hope that you've been putting on more weight; if we can't win at HnK I want to at least sweep the cosplay awards.
