Thanks for taking the time to write all that. You know, I had it in my mind that the entire time we were fighting, you were just throwing out st.HK, I didn't even consider you could be reacting with it, since I didn't feel like it was something you could react with. I just thought it was more of a general "stay back" maneuver to put some shit in front of you that beats my moves. I know you did react to CW and what not but my plan then was to try to CW as you walked forward and catch your st.HK.

As far as the Abel stuff, yeah, you are right, but I feel like holding up is as much of a commitment as holding back, as then they run the risk of getting thrown. You pretty much risk the same punishment either way. Opponent blocks... big punisher. Opponent jumps... bigger punisher. But then you say you can react to throws... do you visually see yourself being thrown and hit throw break or are you reacting to the pause > move forward of your opponent? Because if it's the latter then walk forward wait attack would catch you... and I find it hard to believe you can really react to being thrown visually, moreso the cues that a throw is coming I'd think.

I do get what you're saying though. Guessing with moves that won't be punished horrendously is better than guessing with shit that gets you killed. I feel like DPs do cover a lot of bases though, but you give up safety in return for that.

Still... I do feel our match could have gone either way, going back and watching it just now I actually think I just jumped too much and I should have sat on life lead. I think I need to calm down a bit... I get too eager to close out the match and I think that's where you got me, because it looked like I had it in the bag... unless you intentionally lost the first 3 fights to soul crush me.

Also thinking about CW, it's pretty much weighted the same as far as risk / reward as a reversal option as EX psycho. If I fuck up I get swept probably, if it works I get a full combo, corner you, and get a knock down. Long as I don't use it too much or when I could get killed I think it's fine. I generally try to apply the same thought process to flame kick but sometimes it still isn't worth the risk. Without flame kick its hard to make throws scary though, IMO.

But yeah go back and watch our match if you have some time, I know it doesn't have the whole fight but it's got the first 2 matches: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhRdSQzy3l4

I actually think I was playing pretty well till I started jumping too much and moving forward constantly. Maybe if I just mixed up my advances and pulled back for a while it would have gone better. Thoughts?

And yeah I would like to come down and play. I'd actually like to play at the gathering this Friday but Will has REALLY been bothering me lately and I just don't particularly want to be around him. If I could go and just not have to talk to him at all I'd be fine but it is his place after all and I don't want to have to deal with it.

You have 10 frames from the start of the opponent's throw animation (7 frames after getting grabbed) to break a throw. This means that yes, they are reactable...but they aren't at gamefrog, nor are they online. You have to guess in those environments.

So you complain about people who won't go to a gathering because Ed will be there, and you won't go to Wilmington because of fucking Will?

Samurai Spirits Sen has been in my 360 for months now. Because I haven't turned it on.

10/7 frames isn't enough to react man. That's like saying you can react to jabs in Tekken consistently.

And yeah, pretty much. Will has been a lot more personal about his stuff and constantly putting me down any time he messages me. Like I said I'd just rather not be around him.

Also those charts are pretty cool Brent. So much Faust! Also Nero is top in MBCC?"

It's great how Ed is nice to you. It's also really unusual. Not for someone to be nice to you (well...maybe that is unusual too!), but just him being that way even after he's lost to you in games. I think he also might find some camaraderie with you in that you're both somewhat outcast of the main community...and how a lot of the same people that avoid Ed have had issues with you, too. A theory.

This is kind of a reply to one of your blog posts from a while back and relates to the current situation ;p ...and yeah, your Will situation isn't much different than how situations have been with Ed in the past. At gatherings, I've had experiences with him where I had no idea what to do or say from how he was attacking me. This is over now, thankfully (I think).

Yeah, Faust. That character is always good, can't sleep on him. The charts for some games look really good, like 3D and anime games mostly. SBX has six characters! Sagat says UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUR

Yeah it's pretty unusual for people to be nice to me but I attribute that to the area. Couple of people think they can treat me like that and then other people see it and think they can do it too. Generally outside of the gaming community, I don't have a problem with it. I guess that's why it gets on my nerves because I'm used to being around mostly respectful people so then I come in here and everyone's like TEEHEE JON and it gets annoying. Case in point at the cheese gatherings, no one's been corrupted by like random older players acting that way and talking shit about me so everyone treats me normal, it's pretty nice.

I think Ed likes me because I understand where he's coming from on some stuff IE: problems with how people act in this community and stuff. I have a pretty live and let live attitude and it just irks me when some people feel like forcing their views down your throat. I also don't make up my mind based on what other people think, I like to not judge and not get my opinions from other people's experiences. So the fact I gave him a chance and made up my own mind, and didn't treat him like he was the black plague (lol) probably garnered with some other stuff resulted in me and him being cool.

I'm not sure WHY anyone would have personal issues with me though, I'm pretty easy to get along with. Just leave me be and I'll leave you be, basically.

Wow, so you don't like it when people force their views down your throat, like the way Ed does? There is no such thing as having a discussion with Edward.

Ed likes you because he doesn't see you as a threat to him, period.

For one, you play games Ed actually cares about and beat him at them. SF4 doesn't count because he can always rationalize it as the game sucking, since that's his default stance anyway. You've also banned him from your household. Overall, you've basically displayed that you won't put up with his nonsense, which automatically puts you on his shitlist. He also thinks you're a smartass, which is true, but unlike Ed, most of the community doesn't hold that against you.

I hold everything against Brent at all times. That smartass white mother fucker.

Ok...this is the one and only reason you get along with Ed. It's got nothing to do with anything he talks about other than the fact that he doesn't hate on you. I seriously don't think you care one way or the other about what he talks about. My op on the subject just from talking to you (aka, don't take this personally). As I've told you before, some people have problems with him based on his manners...well that's my problem with him anyway. And also, you're not black otherwise he'd be telling you WAY more stuff than you particularly want to know...

See this is the thing, you guys are always trying to rationalize it one way or another. But just because YOU say it doesn't make that the absolute truth and really it's just spreading bad blood.

He was bitchy towards me for a while when I was beating him in SSF4 and we just talked it out. I'm sure the same will be said in KOF after I get good at it, or any other game from here on out.

But atleast he's straight forward about the stuff. If he says stuff I can just be like "yeah ok" and that's the end of it. With other people... it's never ending. If you want an example, the last like 900 pages of the NC thread have basically been something along those lines. We've been doing this since the soul calibur thread back in the day. I don't think anything ever really changes.

But if you guys want to know why Ed dislikes some of you, I think it's because well... you get what you give. I don't think Ed dislikes you Blake, I've never heard him speak bad about you that I can remember, and the same goes for Brent. Maybe you got that vibe from him because you were giving off the same vibe. Just treat him like you do anyone else. I think he dislikes Matt and Roski because they both dislike him, and it's sort of like "I'll put on a face for you but in the end I'd rather you not be here" at tournaments and stuff. You might say you're cool with someone but then it's obvious when that's just an act.

I just think NC community would be better if everyone didn't have to be right all the time and this need to put yourself above other people. I'd love to be in a community where everyone was just like... friendly with each other and we all just chilled, played games, and had fun. Nothing complicated. People just gotta stop caring so damn much.

I seriously don't think you care one way or the other about what he talks about. My op on the subject just from talking to you (aka, don't take this personally).

Like in regards to the specifics of what HE says or just when talking to anyone?

This is borderline unbelievable at this point. "At least he's straightforward about the stuff", yeah, sure he is. Ed's just as two-faced as anybody, constantly talking out of the side of his mouth about people. I get tired of being around that shit all the time, he always has a cross to bear about something I don't give two shits about. I can't even mention anything about my family without him going on some tirade about nationality and cultural identity being two different things.

As far as "get what you give", Ed's in the same spot. He gets what he gives. People have tried to be nice to him, tried to be understanding, for YEARS, dude. You're coming in on the tail end of this, where most people have basically given up on the guy, and because he hasn't personally offended you enough yet, you're trying to back him up. You just don't know any better.

Brent is pretty much the nicest guy I know, and Ed talks shit about him (just because you never heard it doesn't mean it didn't happen). Roski is one of the nicest guys I know, who tried his damndest to be cool with Ed, only to put up with a bunch of animosity and sidetalk because Ed couldn't beat him at a fucking videogame and Roski has a better tournament venue. And you have the nerve to say "you get what you give"? I call BS. The door swings both ways.

Speaking of spreading bad blood, I have NEVER felt so uncomfortable other than being at Jason's when Ed is on one of his hate rants. That dude just has an aura of negativity around him at all times.

Funny how you say nothing really ever changes. Same deal with Ed. Eventually you'll realize it.

Ed has told multiple people (people that "look like him," as he likes to say, which means black people) that he believes that white people should be "eradicated from the earth." When Roski tried to make peace with Ed for the good of the tournament scene, Ed agreed, and they said they would promote each other's tournaments...and Ed talked massive shit about Lucky's the whole time to every new player he could talk to. Ed straight up stole Demo's food at Final Round, and attempted to start a fight with Q and Phil after they called him on it. He then blamed his behavior towards Q on me, who wasn't anywhere near the room at the time this happened.

The stories are endless, but they all end the same.

I must have a higher tolerance for certain types of bullshit or something, I dunno.

But as far as not being personally offended enough with him, a big portion of the community has done WAY more of that than Ed ever has with me in the past, so I dunno what to say. I think he might be the only person I've ever heard stick up for me when people were talking shit about me around here, so I'll atleast stick up for him when I feel like some things aren't right.

Lessee... as far as Brent goes, he does come off as condescending and smart assy sometimes and if you don't know him I can see why it'd bother you. We're all used to it but if you're a black guy who's edgy about white people putting theirselves above you, Brent is like the first thing that's going to set off alarms in your head. You just have to learn not to take Brent seriously and I think if Brent was around more, he'd probably be cool with him.

But yeah, like I said, maybe I have more of a tolerance for it because I get where he's coming from on some of those things.

As far as realizing things never change, it's usually true with most people. There are always exceptions and I think anyone is capable of change but not everyone is willing. I remember you used to be the most annoying / incredibly hard to get along with person ever back in the day Blake, but you've definitely made efforts to be easier to get along with and I respect that. But if I had said "man fuck that Blake guy he never changes" then we wouldn't be at this venture here right now.

Well to be fair, Q is like the emissary of Matt. He seriously has a saddle on your dick.

If I had to guess, it's cause he'd already alienated himself from everyone who knew better and was clinging to a new hope. Or because he had a big enough beef with the people giving you shit (SURVEY SAYS... MATT FRANK - 82 points) that defending you would cause more problems than it would solve. In my short time here, I've gotten the vibe that Ed aligns himself towards people he thinks he can get some use out of. Even EmoPrinny has had to kick him out. He pissed Brent off. WHO PISSES BRENT OFF.

I get where you're coming from. You're clinging REAAAAL hard to the idea that we're all equal and we all have the same motives so clearly we can all just get along if we try hard enough. But that won't happen. I've heard enough from Ed with my own two ears (and not hearsay, which is usually from reliable sources) to see it.

Well to be fair, Q is like the emissary of Matt. He seriously has a saddle on your dick.

NO JON.

See, I'm well aware of this situation. But you want to know a key difference between me and Ed? I accepted that I didn't like how my behavior was affecting my personal relationships with my friends, and thus I made an effort to change. Ed basically refuses to accept any responsibility, and has repeatedly said he doesn't give a fuck, just like the last time I was at Jason's.

It's easy to have a high tolerance for bullshit when it's not directed at you. You know, like having a guy around who you can commiserate with because you're both so "disliked", apparently. Ed has a Bachelor's in psychology, dude. He's pretty good at manipulating people. All he has to do is see that you get picked on and just stick up for you when others won't.

I'll tell you something my dad told me. Brent picks on me a fair bit, and gives me shit about the decisions I make. After a while it got irritating, so one day I was talking to my dad and I told him about it. He told me, "the person who is nice to you and tries to make you like him is not your friend." Your real friends will tell you when you're fucking up, because they care about you. Period.

Ed doesn't care about you. Ed wants you as a crony. And you're doing exactly what he wants, right now, whether you realize it or not.

While I have no personal beef with Ed, I do have to admit I grow tired of his dictating what gets played at Jason's, typically he will play ssf4 so much that everyone gets tired of it and he goes right to online mode without even asking if anybody wants to switch it to tekken or blazblue. He also talks to me about Tekken while we eat and when we get back, what goes back on the tv? SSF4 lol. It frustrates me because I don't want to demand for anything at someone elses place.

Roski definitely reached out and was ignored numerous times, and that's pretty unfortunate since I think we have probably the whackest community out of all the united states of good old America. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, because I would LOVE to see any community that is more fragmented than ours lol
