qwerty Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 also, i think you understand this thread well, chris
qwerty Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 now i know you all know my feelings on ANIME by now, but this is worth getting hype for
Arvoyea Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 now i know you all know my feelings on ANIME by now, but this is worth getting hype for A continuation of Universal Century Gundam after Char's Counter Attack IS something to be hype for. I just need to finish ZZ before I can watch Char's Counter Attack.
qwerty Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 two episodes in and i'm already prepared to call it the best gundam series
Skubator Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 now i know you all know my feelings on ANIME by now, but this is worth getting hype for <video> That does indeed look hype, but how easy would it be to get into for someone not familiar with the UC mythos? Is there a particular show(s) I should watch first, or could I just jump in and pretty much get it?
tastylumpia Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 It's perfectly fine as a standalone series, just familiarity with the background and characters will enhance your viewing experience. Unicorn is definitely the best Gundam series I've seen in a while. While it still has the stock "war is bad, people die when they are killed" cryfest sermonizing, the directing is great, songs are nice, plot is pretty interesting. qwerty, you going down to the SFSU RnC tourney next weekend?

Is there a particular show(s) I should watch first, or could I just jump in and pretty much get it? As far as plot goes, it has it's own thing but you'd probably appreciate the little details more if you watched the rest of the UC timeline first. Personally I've only seen the first two movies for MSG. To be honest, you can just watch this for the amazing fights and come out needing new pants.

Is there a list somewhere? EDIT: Shoulda thought of Wikipedia. That raises a new question though; should I watch them in direct chronological order, or is there some other order that is better? qwerty Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 the only uc's that i'd say are required watching are 0079 (og), zeta, zz and 0083 (stardust memory). char's counterattack is optional but recommended. also, g gundam
tastylumpia Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 the only uc's that i'd say are required watching are 0079 (og), zeta, zz and 0083 (stardust memory). char's counterattack is optional but recommended. also, g gundam This, but 08th MS Team is good too, if not a little cheesy (well all Gundam are, to an extent). I'd recommend the original MSG, but it's kind of long. Just watch Char's Counterattack to see the conclusion of the MSG->Zeta->ZZ chronology. But again, you might not be too familiar with all the characters. G Gundam is the best Gundam.
vanfleihight Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 I downloaded everything and haven't gotten around to watching them. I'd suggest doing it in broadcast order. It gets really weird when you go chronological and the animation goes from good to shit. Plus half the shows aren't related to Amuro anyway.
NegroNInja Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 anyone on dat god eater burst? Just completed it, need some buddies to run endgame missions with :o
Arvoyea Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 the only uc's that i'd say are required watching are 0079 (og), zeta, zz and 0083 (stardust memory). char's counterattack is optional but recommended. also, g gundam Yep, 0079->Zeta->ZZ->CCA->Unicorn. I need to finish ZZ but the shenanigans by Judau and Friends in the show makes it hard to acknowledge it's a Gundam show and not have to cringe almost every episode. I just want to see Char's Counter Attack. I keep hearing how awesome it is. Only reason Amuro got not much screentime or action in Zeta was because of that Beltorchika female he was with. G Gundam is cool.
Shining Aquas Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 What's going on tomorrow/Saturday? Also, I ordered a MadCatz TE, should be arriving next week some time.
ehuangsan Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Ok, I'll host on Sat starting 3:00. if you need my addy pm me. bring setups or we'll just end up doing dumb shit for shots
Skubator Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 (edited) This, but 08th MS Team is good too I've actually seen 08th MS Team. I really liked how they portrayed jungle warfare in that one. also, g gundam I liked G Gundam when it was just robots fighting. Then the actual G Gundam became a part of the situation and I was like "what." And like, what was with the random grey hexagons that made people evil? Shit made no sense. Anyway, my spring break just started, so I guess I know what I'm doing for the next week or so. EDIT: Which series is 0079? I'm not seeing it on Wikipedia. Is that the original series? Eggs&Rice Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 anyone on dat god eater burst? Just completed it, need some buddies to run endgame missions with :o Oh snap, Chris with the OM NOM NOM game! I've beaten the game, but don't have a PS3 to support Ad-Hoc play. But if you're down, I'll be happy to run some missions whenever.
