4r5 Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 I figured out why fighting games have sucked recently. So we all know that fighting games are hard to get in to and hard to master. And that they need to strive towards easy to get in to and hard to master. But I think Japan sees this differently. I think they think the problem with the genre is that a person wins and a person loses. And usually it's the more skilled player that wins, and keeps on winning. I think they think this is a problem because if a person keeps streaking, that's one side of the machine that ain't getting any yennies. And if no one can stop the streak, the other side of the machine won't be seeing any yennies either. And so they've added more random ass comeback mechanics to distribute the wins a little bit more evenly amongst players. Daigo will still win a lot, but sometimes he'll just lose. tl;dr Ono is Robin Hood Guaranteed replies on SRK? I need to prep some troll counter-arguments and Ono-Robin Hood metaphors.
