I just got my copy today and I've been playing it since coming home from work..game is dope. I'm on chapter 6 now playing on survivor mode (I figured zealot mode would be too hard to start on). So far I've been powering up my pistol to max firepower... I haven't used my nodes for anything but that lol. I haven't even bought a 4th weapon yet (I'm using plasma cuttr, line cutter and javelin). So far I'm finding the javelin's good for annoying small monsters with its 2nd function

One of the things about the force gun that always bugged me in DS1 is that it's really fun in the zero G areas because it's alt fire turns into a rocket launcher, but one of the most common enemies in zero G are those things with the 3 tentacles that shoot you... and the force gun's grenades are really ineffective against them.

Hearing LeiLei's "Xiexie! Ai yah! Bai bai!" when you call her in makes me think of "What's up! Nothing! Later!" from that SNL roxbury sketch.

I just finished DS2 last night... good game, but I was expecting a bit more. it felt like DS2 was like a big expansion pack of DS1. there wasn't too much innovation, just little improvement.

To be honest, the final battle was a little disappointing. DS1 had that huge epic monster, while in DS2 it was just your girlfriend and little monster kids. It reminded me of Fatal Frame's last boss (actually, a lot of DS2 sound effects reminded me of Fatal Frame). Oh yeah, I guess that regenerating necromorph in the end is sort of a last boss... but in DS1, we've already seen a monster like that. Also, that same regenerating necromorph-- doesn't his face look like DS1's last boss?? maybe he IS that same huge epic monster, just downsized. I think the game could've used more HUGE epic monster battles.

I liked the new javelin weapon... Feels like an overall good weapon for big and small monsters. It deals good damage off the bat, and if you add it's ALT ability, it turns into an AOE with an explosion. On survivor mode, it only takes like one shot to take down a normal necromorph... and if one shot isn't good enough, the ALT ability does the trick. And when you're facing a whole bunch of crazy kid monsters, just shoot a javelin into the floor and ALT it for massive AOE damage.

Game was overall fun... I couldn't stop playing it. But it still feels like it's missing innovation.

much like the original, Dead Space 2’s final boss encounter is another massive disappointment, especially after a tough and testing final chapter that sees Isaac relentlessly pursued for the duration. A better payoff would have been a just reward for an edgy concluding section that puts a serious strain on managing the remainder of your ammunition and health packs, but it fails to deliver on all counts. Not sure whether it's an improvement over Dead Space 1's ending or not, because truth be told, both seem like a bit of a letdown, which is a shame considering the rest of the ride is so exhilarating.

I think that the audio is a perfect blend of a spare, subtle soundtrack, filled with incidental sound effects that keep you constantly on your guard. It adds to Dead Space 2's oppressive atmosphere, while pouring on the terror at all the right moments, and you can't stop receiving the pressure ever once you started playing.

Ah yes, the soundtrack... When that suspenseful music goes on I'm thinking, "oh shit." I felt the game did a good job in pulling in the player into its atmosphere. I've never felt the same kind of on-the-edge intensity from any other game.

I felt the same way with the ending... it looked like they were trying to conclude the story too short. There were too many unanswered questions.

Like, how does beating your girlfriend in your own mind stop a massive alien invasion? I wiki'd it after to gain more understanding and I'm still a bit unsure.

The absolute ending had a funny twist to it (like when he turns his head to NOT find a necromorph)... but yeah, it fell short in the "job well done" department. They needed something... like MGS style ending cutscene.

The final boss didn't seem that final. It felt like a sub-boss before the TRUE boss fight. Like if that regenerating necromorph morphed into a bigger necromorph... and just keeps getting bigger as you kill it, sort of thing.

I actually thought the game completely fell apart in the last two chapters. Dead Space does two things real well, atmosphere and combat, and neither of those things were present in the final sequence where you're pretty much just hauling ass through waves of shit that you can't really stop to kill. I don't know how you guys played that part, but for me it was a lot more annoying that anything. Also yes final boss was awful. Held down trigger for pulse rifle and it was dead in about 30 seconds. Woo.

yeah, the last bit was a grind with a lot of dying. but with fully upgraded javelins, anything is possible. lots of trial-and-error moments and restarting certain parts because I accidentally used too many heals or javelins. If I had known that the last chapter WAS the last chapter, I would've spent all my cash on javelins instead of saving up for "the next suit." I had to use hit and run tactics against the last boss to get more javelins. have I mentioned how fabulous javelins are?

SHOT... BZZZT BZZZZZZZZT.... BOOOM

no worries Long, buy the suit later on when you do Zealot.

I'm now suffering from the orgy of ammunition whoring. Not that I'm really broke to afford any but just saving up for nodes. My only weapons now are Stasis + few critical shots + Limbs of the dead.
