GGs and good times at Mike's. Thanks again Mike for letting me stay over. If anyone decides to visit PR, you're all welcome to stay over at my place.

good shit Ray, seeing you play makes me want to learn that game.

The commentators seemed to not like you though. Who was that, Brian? he always praised your opponents and said shit about you-- what a guy.

also, just beat Catherine, TRUE KATHERINE path too. oh so good. I can't imagine Catherine having any different endings, but I guess it's because of how I answered all my questions. Good story/puzzle game!

When RF chains into 5K or does 2K, it burst baits automatically. When I do that, I eat the burst like a boss.

Brian and I were commentating.

We were both tired, never commentated before, and I can't remember saying anything bad about Ray. What I do remember is, Brian was reading the chat logs during the stream and someone said "Ray is free to cross-ups" and Brian was repeating what was said into the mic, while I clarified that it was hard to react to shortly afterward.

The only "bad" thing I remember saying about Ray was "I don't like how Ray uses EX chicken wing so often".

Actually, I also remember Brian saying if he wonders if Ray knew how to punish certain unsafe shit that other players do with Fei Long. If I managed to offend you Ray, then I truly apologize and did not mean it. I'll work on my commentary in the future (like, drinking WATER, and actually knowing what to say during matches).

Good shit Ray, resetting the bracket against AIR.

yo whatever man ray was in that ass, no one cares what a stream monster thinks nor does it matter anyways

true dat

actually, watch the very beginning of grand finals. ray and air kept counterpicking each other at the character select screen hahaha or was it during winner's? first time we actually had to do a blind pick

good shit Ray

Good shit Ray.

good shit indeed.

Derek no worries, you did an amazing job commentating with Brian, pointing out a lot of unnecessary things that I was doing during the tournament. Even if there was anything taken, I took it humbly as a lesson. I mean it's definitely not enough to see what's wrong with your in just a mirror. NO HOMO LOVE.

Back to Catherine and GG.

stream monster bitches are gonna hate.

I'm actually impressed that you guys stepped up and did commentary. It definitely makes it a whole lot better for the scene. I over-exaggerate when I said "brian said shit at ray". To me, it just sounded like the commentating was favouring Ray's opponents, but I don't even play the game so what do I know. also I'm definitely biased in that I was rooting for ray the entire time.

didn't mean to be a total dick about it. keep up the good work!

wow, so having missed the HP tablet craze I ordered one from B&N at like 3am last night, hopefully it made it through

but news has just surfaced that HP is rumored to be resuming support for webOS, spurred on from the sales

wow. clarence needs to see this, I really can't imagine it being anyone else

throwing in that "good shit ray"

yeah, apparently jack had been dealing with cancer since 2009. hard to believe that it finally caught up to him just after he'd finally made his breakthrough. he will be missed

man peter why you gotta hate, if the table's turned around, I bet my ass that you would've said the same thing. I mean winning a ton of dough really makes you feel that you need to be humble with it, unless you are daigo who wins big tournament like he's eating breakfast.

Jay's just lazy fuck. Even I have more respect to Alexie who would never give up on anything, best training partner ever.

oh no I'm not hating on Fuudo. It's just referencing to a conversation I had with Jay how he didn't games like Mahjong or SF4 as much as say Go or MB/GG, because of the chance and luck, like the example of a 50/50 of a wake up Shoryu, and I was debating that it was "luck" like that that made the game interesting and the "chances" made for a deep game. Fuudo's interview gives pretty good insight into that. He used the skill of reading his opponents habits and tactics to influence his gamble which in the end paid off for him.

GGs!

definitely need some MANGO JUICE to power up next time.

Good shit. I liked that dash forward ultra @ first round of the reset; Goddo Hands reactions!

VF5 Final Showdown getting a console release.

One of the significant changes from previous VF5:

"- Easy throw escape input option selects have been added. You can now hold the guard button while inputting a throw escape (Punch + direction) and you will be able to block and throw escape at the same time."

VF IS FOR CASUAL PLAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hahaha. I can appreciate jay's point of view though. he prefers go to mahjong because if you lose in go (or chess, or any similar game) the only person you have to blame is yourself - such are games of perfect information. I'm a very analytical kind of guy myself so chess is my sort of game (and GG rather than SF, etc.); this probably explains my preference for games with long/damaging combos since if raoh can theoretically murder you via nutpunching every time he so much as touches you, then essentially I'm playing a game that allows me to minimalise the external factors that determine victory. on the other hand, as hype as brilliant moves or zwischenzugs in chess are, they are, inherently, only possible due to the shortcomings of the opponent - in essence, nothing more than human error.

in comparison, being non-dealer in the last game of south round and pulling off the limit hand comeback? that shit is mad hype. also go is ridiculously hard, so fuck go. IS MAHJONG BAY-BEE

and yeah that was an interesting interview. always nice to see inside the thought processes of people who are at the top of their game. my favourite counterpart from chess would be this one interview with kasparov where he was saying how at around move 28 of the game, he had already envisioned a rook move in the endgame - he specifically mentioned something like 55. ... Rc4. that was pretty mindblowing.

I have to say that as time has passed, what I like more in my games is a pseudorandom element that you can hedge against, whether or not it's a game of complete information. Games with draft elements like bridge, draft MTG, LOL/DOTA/etc. have a big element of min/maxing combined with bet hedging, and possibly a random setup component (true in bridge/MTG, not true in LOL/DOTA). Might and Magic Clash of Heroes is one of my most favourite DS games, and it's a complete information game, but it has the element of random board configurations which result in a lot of interesting and diverse planning/counter planning.

Though maybe Mike isn't so much into the hedging and percentages since that's what he does IRL already.

ironically enough chang couldnt you say your job is all about imperfect information? maybe all stock brokers/financial analysts don't play SF because they get their daily dose of random SRKS from stocks

see: efficient market hypothesis

though in my experience only weak-form EMH, at best, holds. imperfect AKA inside information ftw, but enough gets missed that fundamental analysis can still work, especially during down cycles.

it's too bad the earthquake wasn't more severe, I was hoping the market would slip today. (just kidding, glad you're OK gabe!) also, the pseudorandom element in games is essentially yomi; need to go deeper.
