AFAIK the real draw was the AE tournament. He played a top-rated Sagat in vanilla SF4, and he still uses Sagat in AE.

Hi,

I was wondering what type of scene exists now for in Lower Mainland for BB or GG. Are there ever any meetups or anything or tournaments locally?

Posted

Well the general consensus on BB here is that it fucking sucks, therefore no one in our circle plays it. There is a scene for it in BC but just not here. So you might wanna try elsewhere for BB.

GG, people don't really play anymore but we still play it on occasion. We do have a kind of weekly meet up where we play games but since most of us are working professionals sometimes it's on and off and when we do meet up it's mostly to hang out. You can still come and play GG if you're interested in getting into it.

TL;DR: We're faggots. BB sucks(who the hell even plays that?). GG died. We're niggers. KFC.

See you soon!

Yeah, we don't play BB.

GG scene still exists and the players meet up quite often (though we sometimes just chill and hang out). we used to have lots of GG tournaments... and at some point I'd like to do more tournaments if people are interested. let us know if you wanna play some GG.

ALSO, I'm trying to start a scene in the northcoast of BC, so if you live up there let me know.

Grief Syndrome!!!!!

Didn't know which character to pick at the start. Picked a non-descript dark haired one, discovered she pull mortars/heavy machine guns/pistols/nades out of thin air, and her super is TIME STOP.

Decided to try another character with no apparent weapon on the char select screen. This one summons rifles out of the air, and when mashing the basic attack move, gets an array of them stuck in the ground around her which she grabs and fires and throws away. AWESOME.

Sadly, none of the other 3 characters are as awesome as those two, and one of them is flat out un fun to use without any co-op teammates.

grief syndrome? without searching up the name, based off your description of the characters and their abilities, it sounds like a doujin fighter based off of MAHOU SHOUJO MADOKA MAGICA. I would highly recommend that you watch this show gabe, it's an amazing deconstruction of the magical girl genre (like what evangelion was to giant robots) and was animated by SHAFT, so lots of cool eyecandy all around.

unfortunately, it sounds like a terrible fighter. because there are only FIVE CHARACTERS IN THE SHOW.

speaking of which, gabe, I watched redline with peter and long. damn if that movie isn't sweet! must download BD copy when it comes out.

wow, didn't know mbaacc was confirmed. really wish it was for ps3 instead though!

tramador: we meet up more or less every friday evening at my apartment (which is close to ubc). I am generally always there (what with it being my apartment and all) and I am always up for some gg, since I don't really play ssf4/mvc3. a couple of us still prefer gg (will, torry, etc) over any of the more recent fighters so you'll have people to play. if you're interested, I can PM you my contact info and address!

Grief Syndrome is a 3-player beat-em-up by tasofro. This year and the past year I've actually gotten quite excited about tasofro stuff, what with Dynamarisa 3D (which is actually a game modelled after EDF, so I'm a sucker for it), and Grief Syndrome, which has on one had bg/enemy art that is bizarre and surreal, and on the other hand has the nicely animated and more ort player characters. It also reminds me that tasofro has been around for literally more than 10 years; the first full version of Eternal Fighter Zero was released in 2001, and there were demo versions of it available prior to that. Crazy. I don't know if it's been the same crew all this time, but they're pretty darn awesome.

I never got around to watching Madoka, but the ending for it sounded pretty awesome. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit my time budget at the moment. Maybe it will after I stop watching REDLINE for the 1000000000000000x time.
