West Coast Canada IV: "Ah yes, 'Guilty Gear' - we have already dismissed that game!"

I dunno, I like my alienware laptop, and I'm sure Mike likes his too.

Anyway word of advice, if Oni and Evil Ryu were successfully unlocked at espot (I left before the arcade operator got there yesterday), do not put up any footage or anything like that on the internet. Turns out Capcom forced Arcade Infinity (the original leaker Arcade) in socal to reset the machine/remove the unlocks for them both. Serious business yo.

mike have you distributed wedding invitations yet? it's actually less for me and more for other people to start deciding whether they wanna come to Tokyo or not, but at the same time, the earlier i get a headcount, the easier the planning will be.

stefan - sorry, I've only distributed one, things were hectic until this last weekend! thanks for the reminder; I'll do that tonight

sandy would not be a bad choice since there's whole thing going on with intel being fgts and pushing out new noncompatible sockets every year or some shit

random food for thought

this wouldn't be super jew, I just jewed where I could if it wasn't cpu/vid and mobo to ensure upgradability....but then since its all socket 1156 stuff it may not be compatible with future cores, though there's nothing stopping you from getting a i7 if you so wish later

I've never upgraded the CPU on my computer. If the CPU is the bottleneck, then the system is probably too old/ghetto to be saved.

I would not recommend the Caviar Green HDD as a main system HDD. I have one and use it for media storage, but it's noticeably slow for anything more demanding than that.

I'm actually looking for a nice gaming laptop... preferably something small for portability, but can also play SC2. this laptop actually looks pretty good. any other recommendations???

I don't recommend Acer cuz their keyboards are crap. You'll find everything to be nice until you realize the computer keeps randomly dropping key presses. I would know, I have an Acer laptop >.>

Here's a bit of insight on how bad they are:

Acer Laptop keyboard: 2$ per

Asus Laptop keyboard: 6$ per

I'm not saying go with Asus, but Acer keyboards are just really shitty

i don't really care about speed, for me it's more so capacity, so i guess that's your perk, makes sense though

i usually just buy like 5 of those to use in a raid array on a home server or something

I never really thought much about hdd speed until I got that caviar green, because it's not something I ever really noticed much.

If you're just using them as bulk storage, they're fine, though.

I really dislike the 1366x768 resolution, especially on a 15" monitor. It just seems odd that you'd have so much powerful stuff inside a laptop, have a monitor 15" big... but then saddle it with such a low resolution. The only laptop I could find that had the combination of small size, good screen resolution, and a half-decent video card (for mobile, anyway) was the Vaio Z... which costs like $2000 base. Hilariously, upgrading the hdd on it because it uses SSD raid costs as much as entire other laptops. Ballers only!

The laptop I'm using now is the MSI GX640. It's got some weird design issues (like putting the exhaust vent on the right hand side wtf), the battery juts out the back, the keyboard and monitor can flex a little, and the Fn and Ctrl keys are in swapped positions (wtf?). On the plus side, it has good performance, a 15" display at 1680x1050 (lets you do 2 pages side-by-side in Office with good readability!), weighs just under 6 lbs., and has an eSata port.

The Alienware 15" laptop I considered for its powerful performance and better build, but the thing weighs 9 lbs. That's more than a 4L jug of milk!

My keyboard isn't dropping presses, but I will say I don't particularly like the keyboard either. They're weird chiclet keys that don't feel too great to type on.

That's weird, I've had the exact same problem with not one, but two ASUS machines (not acer). Mind you they were two of the same model that we bought for work but randomly dropping keys while entering passwords is extremely annoying.

So is mango sentinel going to be a DLC color for Sentinel?

MvC3 is the land of otg supers

I wonder what else Lei-Lei will be able to do with Tenraiha. VS didn't have the extremely tall arenas that Vs. series has, so I wonder if it'll be able to give her a gigantic wall to advance behind the way it could in VS. Maybe the spike balls will always drop from whatever top of the screen the camera view is at. Who knows!

It's probably gonna be a default color out of the box. I mean magneto has his blue color from the MAHVEL BAYBEE video even though no one remembers it.

Both him and Lei Lei look a lot slower now. I liked her airdash in VS series but now it looks kinda goofy.

One thing in general I do like about MvC3 is that they made all the useless supers in previous games more functional, or at least more visually intimidating. Like ... half of Sentinel's supers and pretty much all of Doom's supers outside of photon array.

edit: MvC3 is the land of OTG everything. Like magic series, smash to ground, relaunch into super is pretty much everyone's staple / canned combo. It's a little disappointing to see that, I mean even MB has a remarkably varied combo system per character once you look past the basic double jump combos.

It is a nice touch that they kept in some of his old combos, although the reduce speed may be a determining factor on how good he is as well as no more stompy stomp on the head all day.

MB has wallslam, and by definition any game with wallslam is fun.

But yeah, what with all the combos it has involving delayed juggle hits and reverse beat, it's got a little more to offer. I kind of like how otg -> super makes all kinds of supers somewhat useful (seriously, who ever used Sentinel's electric ball super except to DHC it?)

Sentinel looks like his flight is slower, his moves take longer to recover, and his beams have been realigned to the "yellow beams!!!" aesthetic that plagues the game. The combo which Sentinel did while flying in the reveal movie doesn't look like the full unfly combo, though it does raise hopes for it. His damage overall seems really high though, even for MvC3.

PSP2 guesstimated at $1000. Ballers only!

Sentinel is pretty much more like COTA self than MvC2, mainly because he regained all of his fluid animations again. With the cut animation of MvC2, it resulted in a faster Sentinel mainly because there was less animation to begin with for transitions between frames.

But even in COTA, he was still top tier. lol MSS for his debut video.

Was his flight speed in MvC2 the same as in COTA?

Because his walk speed in MvC2 was still slow as hell, but his fly speed was out of control.
