Dacidbro Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Grabs look like attacks, so if you're reacting to him moving you could just as easily get counter hit or reject miss yourself. Clearly though I was relying on my reaction speed too much, and need to option select barrier more.
rei-Scarred Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) Well to me it's like oh shit that looks like a throw, but by then I'm already grabbed because 7 frames is unreactable, but I already knew where it was going its not like the first frame I've been grabbed is the first frame I realized the opponent was trying to throw me, hence 20 frames to react. Now that I think about it that'd explain why I tech greens almost as easily as purples because I don't look for that 7 frame throw startup while I'm being combo'd so for those itd feel more like 27 instead of 34. Good luck at SCR though I'll watch the stream if I don't forget. Option select barrier works 1/10 times. You will get TRM every time now and the window for that to happen is huge. I wouldn't be surprised if you could time an AA forcing them to barrier right before they hit the ground run up and grab and force TRM. It's so ridiculous now, but that was kind of lame in CT anyway. The setup I mentioned in my post though would only matter if you were doing this everytime you barrier though which is stupid, but I have had similar things happen to me because i have rapid and barrier mapped to the same button for other reasons lol. Well, by that I mean I use A+B+C to barrier o-o
huey253 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 i think dacidbro should've learned his lesson when spark trolled him and all of socal with TRM set ups to beat that... i was pretty sure thats what you meant though. i'm kinda sad that people have trouble teching throws, i thought dacid just was having a bad game, but if he really can't reaction tech green grabs.....

Any time I attempt to tech a grab and I push 1ABC instead of BC, the only thing that changes is I can't be hit by an attack while I attempt to tech the grab. If I fuck up I fuck up, that's the same either way, but fucking up with 1ABC doesn't hurt, usually. Even then I only use it when my opponent likes grabs and doesn't aim for TRM, because you have to definitively look for it to get it.
