If you make it so that it'll be held on PS3, or at least mix PS3/360, I will be totally down for this; was probably going to pass on Hazbats because they had it listed as 360-only, and I don't want to be perpetually mooching off someone's stick. Don't care much either way about fee as I'm more about learning matchups and practice than making potential lunch money. Of course, a potential job on the horizon may screw over my ability to make it to these at all, so treat my vote accordingly.

I don't care where we have them. As long as we're all happy for the most part. I want to have these ranbats in the place that will best help our community grow. I would suggest that instead of a ranbat, we have a danisen, though. then have a tournament at the end and payout to that. a danisen would lend itself to the free entry / play lots of casuals and learn kind of vibe

this is only if we play at uat, though. i would only expect ranbats from haz. ranbats work perfectly fine there.

the dan system would also work perfectly with seeding for tournaments if they ever get that large.

I agree with Carlos' sentiments on PS3 (ugh Xbox pads). Does it have to be the same day, though? Seems like it could be one day off and not force people to choose between one and the other, in case there's anyone who wants to go to both.

I'm good with ranbats at whatever location, but I think it was really cool of Haz to start hosting P4A so I'm not sure how to feel about "segregating" the community for the game with separate ranbats on the same day.

That's kinda how I feel about it. I know there's a lot of people that are not allowed at haz's place for the p4u ranbats (some i like, like Tristan), but I don't know how wise it is to have the p4u ranbats at a different location just so the people who are banned from hazem's can show. They may have been banned for a very good reason... If they were volatile to the community at hazem's should we go out of our way to include them? I know it sounds fucked up to mention things like this, but I think it's worth the thought.

Overall, though.. I'll play where ever you guys decide to.

I was at UAT and did ok. Fought against the Chie Brigade and then the Kanji Army.

As for the ranbats, I don't know if having mixed consoles would make a difference for P4A like it would for SF4 and Marvel. Playing on Xbox for SF4 really screws me over. At least for this ranbat you don't have to pay a venue AND a tournament fee, so it's pretty good as it is. We should either keep it low or free for now for the entrance fee.

Been a long time since I played GG--forgot I had an account on DL.

Since I am the originator of this idea I figure I should pop in and say a few words about what I am proposing and why.

As Ruben stated, the proposition is to relocate the P4A ranbats to UAT from its previous determined location. There are a few reasons why I feel this will be a better idea:

1) There are some players that are interested in playing P4A that are not welcome at the previous venue. Some are not due to their own actions, and some simply by association. As one of those players I will be honest and say that I am perfectly ok with not being able to attend any events that I am not welcome to, so please do not associate this push as a selfish drive to allow me to play a game I like. However, just note that this does affect anywhere between 5-10 people interested in P4A. More importantly is the next reason...

2) There are some players that are interested in playing P4A that are not as comfortable playing at someone's house. This is the general response I got when asking around at Keith's event yesterday. Most of the players will do it if they have to, but don't necessarily like the idea. Holding the ranbats at UAT would eliminate this. We've done plenty of games at UAT before, its a familiar place that people around all of Phoenix metro do not seem to mind travelling to.

3) No Venue fee. I actually don't know if there is a venue fee currently at the previously determined venue, but there isn't one at UAT.

Now to address some mentioned concerns:

Set ups: P4A standard should be on PS3. As this game has an equal number of PAD players as stick players. This is your community and your game, don't settle.

Stream/community boost etc: This is an insanely valid concern, there are honestly solid benefits on both sides. At the previous determined venue, there are an established set of players already, with many new games like SF4/UMVC3/etc, there is the potential to expand the AD/Anime game community. Key word there is potential. The reality is right now, Keith managed to pull a 42 man tournament. This is a very large turn out and it doesn't even include a lot of the DL guys who didn't make it. That in and of itself is a large community if you can keep everyone there, interested, and playing. It was my suggestion to lower entry fees and make it less about money (which deters players more than it drives players in my opinion) and more about just coming out, playing, learning, and having a good time. We have a high quality stream set up and can do recordings etc.

This all being said, this is your community, and I have no intentions on twisting anyone's arms. If you all decide to continue on with the P4A hAZbats then that is totally ok. I will probably still try to do something at UAT for those who want to go there instead.

Also note that we do have P4A casuals almost every friday night on the west side (right now its mostly p4a and tekken to gear up for tag2) so if anyone is interested in coming out for that... you're more than welcome.

Well I think that was one of the main pros to having it at UAT is less money per person and a bathroom that isn't used by 80 people.

TBH, I dunno how people got banned from Haz's but SRK is so full of drama that I can't shake the feeling that people are banned over menial shit.

I would prefer that the ranbats are run on PS3's as well, just because most people that play P4A play it on that system and if we have people bring setups it will be mostly on PS3.

Anyways, I think another big point that Tristan brought up, and I agree with is that P4A is being treated as a placeholder just because they cancelled SFxT, I don't wanna keep playing second fiddle to everything else and I think we should run it ourselves.

Justin, I'm not really understanding the Denisan thing you're talking about, are you talking about a bootcamp type thing? Or just have casuals at UAT? I think we could do casuals and a ranbat on the same day assuming we have enough setups, the plan is still to run a 4 session ranbat season regardless if it's at Haz's or not.

I plan on talking with Keith and Tristan on a Facebook chat at some point hopefully, if you wanna give your two cents I can invite you if you're online.

EDIT: He was typing that response as I was ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

the danisen is pretty interesting. it helps group similarly skilled players. that way no one feels like they're getting rolled by a veteran player.

you have 10 ranks (can obviously be less depending on how many people we have), win 3-5 games straight and you move up a rank; lose 3-5 games in a row and go down a rank, players in the same rank play eachother. it just promotes people playing similarly skilled people, but it only works with a lot of people. it's not ideal for a 10 man scene; 60 people however, is a different story. It is a great tool for determining seeding in tournaments.

this is all just an idea, though. it might be a fun alternative!

Sounds like fun. =D I'm all for this, actually.

Oh right, I worked yesterday so I couldn't make the UAT tourney... right. Although I'm shocked at Kanji winning. Must have DP looped or something, lol.

*insert approval of most of what's been said here*

Hope you guys figure something out, though.

Yeah that actually sounds great, I'm down for a money-less casual thing if that's what people want, but I wonder if Haz would still just wanna do the Hazbats themselves if we're not doing anything money-oriented.

I think a lot of this needs to be sorted out through chat before any solid decisions are made, but it seems like people are down for anything at this point so that's good.

EDIT: Lol Marq, just saw your title.

i'll chat with you (ruben) and tristan sometime and we can figure out if we can flesh this thing out some.

Its important to note that a free tournament with a pretty nice prize, for a brand new game will not dictate how many people will show up at the ranbats. I'm sure the numbers will dwindle just as they always do.

All I have to say about people being banned is that its overblown and the people involved are so childish its become moot to even talk about it. There isn't 5-10 people banned, its like 1-3 people and their best friends choose not to go out of respect. Let's keep it real here.

People not being "Comfortable" playing at somebodies house is the stupidest thing i've ever heard. If you've been playing fighting games for more than a week you know that people's houses are the way to go. There is 0 point in trying to make it seem like we are catering to a new generation of hikkomori players.

Lastly, whatever you guys want to do (Ruben) is cool. The main reason that P4U was added to ranbats was that Tucson wants to compete in P4U but can't handle making two trips. We managed to convince Abe from AIAB to cancel his beloved but dead SFxT and replace it with a new game that alot of the community was getting in to. Realistically though it will be second fiddle because UMVC3 rules the PHX scene in terms of money, players, and what our stream fans like to watch. I don't see why this is a bad thing though because you still get stream time and a chance to prove that AZ has a scene.

Maybe you guys can get so good that people watch the stream JUST for P4U, no reason it can't be possible.

Regardless, it would be best to let hazem or abe know what the community decides so we don't step on toes.

Armando, your post sounds kinda hateful, but it's a moot point since we made the decision, and the decision is MORE IS BETTER

In an effort to not fuck over Tucson we're just going to run the Danisen style meetups at UAT on days that aren't HazBats.

Easypeasy done deal.

Hard not to sound hateful when everywhere I turn lately I've ran into the same whiny stuff from the same people, gah.

Glad you guys settled it already though, that's cool. Look forward to attending some of these things.

Armando, I ran that for awhile, the best thing about that text noise is that people that don't know what Tuturuu is think it's just some standard text noise, those who know give you the thumbs up.

Just don't add the Mayushii desu part.
