Ted that character is literally flying around the screen and punishing the other player for trying to play the game by charging into their face. They made it worse this game by giving her oki back so she can just run a train on you as soon as she gets one hit. I'm sure she's difficult to get started with but she sure looks awfully uninteractive at higher levels of play.

So how are they getting hit by dash? Are they throwing out a move full screen?

Ted, trust us on this. Tao is the best character in the game outside of Kokonoe. 4k+ easily off a lot of her confirms + oki. Once she's on you, you can't do anything. It's never safe to press buttons. It's never safe to reversal. She goes where she wants, when she wants. Her priority is ridiculous. The only saving grace for characters that manage to get in is that she doesn't have a reversal.

You can argue Litchi, Hazama, valk and maybe a few others as being one of the best, if not THE best. But I think tao is, and so does a large portion of players and Japan. I'll need to look around for it, but I think I saw a matchup chart that showed Tao leading. Similar to this one Japan made for P4A http://puu.sh/2N2nJ

Well. Once you get in with tao, I will agree that it's a one-player-game.

It's a one player game if you guess wrong, in which case, Tao is just mixing you up. She has OPTIONS which is what most Blaz players aren't used to characters having. She can do more than 1 or 2 things from any given move, which, combined with her tricky movement options, means that you have to guess on how to escape. She has ways to bait bursts/DPs/Anti-airs with her movement options, yes, but they aren't necessarily free; the Tao could guess wrong and use an option that doesn't bait those things. She's no different than Chie in that aspect.

A one-player character would be CT Rachel, CT Nu, CS1 Litchi, Arcana 1 Liese, F/UC everyone etc...

She doesn't have unreversable pressure (it's hard to reversal out of) and she doesn't have unblockable setups that let her win the game (CT Rachel, CT Arakune, Kokonoe) that can't be gotten out of. The opposing player just has to guess right.

By one player game, I am saying something along the lines of Narukami or Chie oki. A situation where what you do is not influenced by the opponent specifically. A situation where you can use several pre-determined blockstrings, frametraps, and mixups for a good period of time without much risk. A thing that good Taos do ridiculously well.

This is also something that I believe several characters do similarly. relius and Valk, for example, get to constantly pressure once they get in and rotate through several mixups that the player has practiced. I'm not saying it's too good, busted, broken, needs a nerf, or anything else along those lines. I was just describing what I feel that particular situation is like.

And to be fair, every character does this sort of thing to some extent when they get in. It's when it gets to continue for an extended period of time with many many options, that I feel it's deserving of being described as being like a "one-player-game".

It's just my opinion anyway. My own definition.

I didn't think my remark about "one player" characters would start a whole conversation. Tao has always been stupid, it's just even more pronounced in this game because of her tuna fish oki. If Kokonoe wasn't as dumb as she is, Tao would definitely be the best character in the game.
